Chapter 160: A Day Is Too Long

Hearing his cold voice that boomed into her ears, Alyssa flinched visibly, appearing much more docile and fearful than she had been a few minutes ago.

Well, it was to be expected since Aaron was no longer tied and suppressed under the effects of narcotics anymore.

He now stood at a height that she couldn’t even dream of.

"W-We will be attacking the stealth tribe first, it specializes in assassinations and stealth so we need to be wary of getting ambu–"

"Lady Alyssa." Aaron smiled widely, his words dripping with slight sarcasm, "I didn’t ask for a war council meeting, I simply asked for the directions."

"Ah..." She trailed off, coughing and standing on his palm before looking around herself, appearing like a cute little soft toy.

"I am so high... I can see so far..." She whispered under her breath, turning to look in all four directions before nodding firmly and extending a hand in one particular direction.

"There." She said briefly.

If he didn’t want her advice, then she had no reason to give it either.

Despite the annoyance of getting forced onto a mission he never asked for, seeing her pouting like a child, Aaron’s face cracked into an amused smile.

He grabbed her with his left hand, making her squeal out in panic, shouting that he cannot hurt her or he will die of poison!

When threats didn’t work, she resorted to begging, requesting him not to hurt her, please.

But Aaron turned a deaf ear to her cries, feeling amused when he thought about her reaction after she realized that he was simply shifting her resting place.

He had a need for both his hands on many occasions, so it wasn’t particularly safe for her to be lounging on one of them.

Ignoring her desperate cries for her life, Aaron gently plopped her down on his right shoulder, even going as far as to tap on her red mushroom cap lightly.

It made her stagger as she closed her mouth, finally realizing that she was overreacting a little too much.

"Uhm, I always trusted you... sir. I am simply afraid of heights. Yep. That’s it." She nodded to herself many times, speaking in a small voice.

"Aaron. You can call me Aaron. I believe you." He replied amusedly, "And I wanted to ask about this weird narcopaste that your mommy gave to me."

"Sir Aaron." Alyssa nodded dutifully, patting on his linen shirt twice before sitting down gently.

Her legs hung down his shoulder and her body bounced high with each stride he took.

It surely looked funny, but Aaron had no intentions of bullying a cute little mushroom girl that felt so innocent.

If there was someone he should mess with, it would be the great elder!

So without wasting any time, he sent a mental command to his nanobots, causing a thin black belt to pop out near Alyssa’s waist, tightening around her dress and planting her firmly onto his shirt.

She seemed to be surprised and unsure about the seatbelt at first, but after she noticed its effects, she quickly ate back her complaints.

Instead, she picked up the topic that he had asked her about.

"The Narcopaste is indeed a secret recipe of the great elder, which is known to be effective in increasing the narcotic resistance of other people and creatures of different races.

Or well, that’s what she theorizes, as we only had the liberty to test our results on a black raven. It proved to be effective."

"I see, what about the delay in that poison? I really would destroy your entire tribe if I found out that you were lying, Alyssa."

She nodded her head furiously like a pecking chicken, "It’s true! The poison will be delayed due to the increase in your narcotic resistance, but as she said, the poison is too strong and will not get cured, simply delayed."

She had repeated the same thing twice, but in her defence, it was a really important thing that Aaron needed to know.

If by any misunderstanding he thought that the poison would get neutralized with the Narcopaste, he would not hesitate to betray them!

Aaron simply hummed in response, looking around himself as he noticed the slight changes in the surroundings.

The surroundings were completely infested with multicoloured mushrooms, growing in such large quantities that he felt sick looking at them.

Each step was a cause of death for countless mushrooms, each of them exploding into a mist that travelled up Aaron’s nose.

But Aaron was not the stupid newbie anymore as he took out a vial of Narcopaste, quickly drinking one to prevent any mishaps from occurring on this ’trip’.

And learning from his past mistakes, he converted the texture of his nanobots into a mirror and looked at his face and eyes, breathing a sigh of relief when he saw his eyes were fine.

In addition, he also formed a thin porous mask out of nanobots to cover his face and nose.

"Well, how far away is it?" He asked in boredom, snapping Alyssa out of her daze.

"The stealth tribe lives nearly 1–3 months away for us, sir Aaron, however with your speed we should be able to reach it in only a day or half!" she said excitedly, glancing around herself like a child who got to go out of her home for the first time.

Despite the surroundings being made out of only two things, she didn’t seem to mind it at all!

She enjoyed each and every mushroom, playing a mental game with herself to count how many different kinds of mushrooms she would see today.

"Well, a day is too long, Aly." Aaron smirked widely, turning to look at Alyssa, "Hold my shirt tight and if you puke on it, I will be burying you for the golden shroom myself."

"Hu– HUHHH!? AHHH! SLOW!!!"

Alyssa’s screams were the only thing left behind in the wind as Aaron leaned low and took off like a dart.

His aim was to reach that stealth tribe within an hour.

No matter what.
