Chapter 704: Battle with Barbarossa - Part 2
*Boom!*
Dark power erupted from Barbarossa’s body, accompanied by a powerful shockwave that rippled in all directions.
Leon stood calmly as the blast struck him. He didn’t budge—not even an inch—as if the shockwave had no effect on him at all.
"The Fated One, die!" Barbarossa roared.
*Whoosh!*
He launched himself toward Leon, palm open, revealing a black hammer cloaked in a dark aura. With a savage motion, he swung it at Leon’s head.
The attack was blindingly fast—far too fast to dodge. But it made sense. Empowered by dark power, his strength had increased many times over.
However, to Leon’s Eyes of Chaos, that speed was nothing special. In his eyes, it looked... slow.
Just before the hammer could land, Leon’s body suddenly swapped places with a humanoid statue thirty meters away.
*Boom!*
The statue crumbled to dust. The floor beneath it split apart, then erupted in a powerful blast that carved a two-meter-deep crater.
"Coward," Barbarossa spat coldly. He turned, eyes locked on Leon—who now stood calmly thirty meters away. "So, you’ve already mastered the Eyes of Chaos... Imperfect, yes, but even now, it’s terrifying. Everything Amon Crimson said was true. You are a real threat to our god’s revival."
Leon responded with a faint smile as a sword forged from chaos power took shape in his open palm.
He swung it to the side, narrowed his eyes, and said, "Enough with the pleasantries. Let’s fight for real."
The moment those words left his mouth, Leon vanished—reappearing in an instant, right above Barbarossa.
He twisted his body midair and brought his blade down in a swift arc, aiming straight for Barbarossa’s neck.
Even Barbarossa was momentarily overwhelmed by the sheer speed of the attack.
But he managed to dodge just in time. Seizing the moment while Leon was still airborne, he swung his hammer sideways, targeting Leon’s right ribs.
Yet, as if he had anticipated it, Leon shifted his right leg in the air and murmured, "Hero Technique: Space Step."
*Whoosh!*
His figure vanished in an instant, reappearing five meters behind Barbarossa.
A second later, Barbarossa’s hammer slammed into the spot where Leon had just been—hitting nothing but air.
Still, the impact triggered a powerful explosion that shattered a massive pillar across the hall.
*Whoosh!*
Leon appeared behind Barbarossa and landed a heavy kick square in his back.
*Bang!*
Barbarossa’s body slammed into a large pillar on the right side of the hall.
Leon didn’t pause. He raised his sword and brought it down in a sharp arc.
A blade-shaped wave of chaos power burst forth, hurtling straight toward Barbarossa.
*Slash!*
Barbarossa was too slow to react—Leon’s strike sliced him clean in two. A torrent of thick, black blood erupted into the air like a geyser.
Then, everything stopped. The blood froze midair, suspended as if time itself had halted.
Moments later, it reversed course, flowing back into his body as the two halves slowly rejoined, piece by piece.
The sight stunned Leon—but before he could react, Barbarossa lunged at him with blinding speed and slammed into his body.
*Boom! Boom!*
They crashed through the hall’s walls, tore through the palace, and finally collided with the massive iron gate outside.
*Bang!*
Barbarossa followed up with a crushing punch to Leon’s stomach, sending him flying into one of the towering stone pillars that supported Mount Durnhak’s crater.
"Pfft!" Leon coughed, clutching his aching abdomen.
But before the pain could settle, Barbarossa was already charging again—swift and silent, like a shadow cutting through the wind.
Luckily, Leon had anticipated it. His right eye widened—and in a flash, his body swapped places with a two-meter-wide boulder resting on a mound a hundred meters below.
*Boom!*
Barbarossa’s hammer struck the pillar instead, obliterating it on impact.
Cracks spread like spiderwebs before the entire structure gave way and collapsed, plunging into the churning magma below.
"Damn..." Leon muttered, gripping his aching stomach.
He hadn’t expected Barbarossa’s attack to be that fast or that powerful. Even his physical body—perfectly trained by the Dragon Ancestor—had taken damage.
The wound wasn’t serious, but the pain was sharp enough to send cold sweat trickling down his temples.
But what truly unsettled him wasn’t Barbarossa’s strength—it was that terrifying healing technique.
In all his life, Leon had never witnessed anything that could stop time itself just to mend a wound.
Not even the power of the Evil God’s consciousness had ever felt that overwhelming.
Leon took a deep breath, straightened up, and asked, "Miranda, do you know what technique Barbarossa just used?"
A few seconds passed in silence. Then, two heartbeats later, Miranda’s voice echoed in his mind.
"Master, I don’t know if this will sit well with you, but... it seems Barbarossa has gained access to one of the power laws—specifically, the Law of Time."
Leon’s eyes widened in horror the moment those words echoed in his mind.
"The Law of Time? One of the divine laws? That’s impossible! Only god-level beings—like the Evil God—should be capable of wielding that!"
"As I said, it’s just a theory. But right now, it’s the most plausible one," Miranda replied cautiously. "And truthfully, it’s not beyond reason. Dark power originates from the Evil God’s essence. It’s possible that, over the past seven thousand years, Barbarossa learned to manipulate the Law of Time through it."
The explanation made sense. Leon’s shock slowly began to fade.
"Then—"
Before he could finish, Barbarossa lunged at him once more, his massive hammer raised high and ready to strike.
In response, Leon quickly deactivated his chaos power, reverting to his normal appearance. He stepped back—and in the blink of an eye, vanished from the spot.
*Boom!*
The mound of earth where he’d stood exploded into fragments and collapsed into the seething magma below.
Barbarossa looked up, searching for any sign of Leon—but suddenly, from above, a massive slash of holy power tore through the air, crashing down on him.
*Slash!*
Once again, Barbarossa’s body was split in two. Black blood gushed out like before.
And once again, time seemed to freeze. The severed halves of his body slowly began to reassemble.
But Leon didn’t wait. Gripping the Holy Sword of Zenith in his left hand, he shouted, "Hero Technique: Five Dragon Steps!"
*Whoosh!*
He reappeared beside the still-recovering Barbarossa and slashed across his body in a horizontal arc.
"First Move!"
*Slash!*
"Second Move!"
"Third Move!"
"Fourth Move!"
"Fifth Move!"
From above, below, ahead, and every direction, multiple versions of Leon appeared—each one striking with precision at Barbarossa’s vital points.
Barbarossa’s half-formed body was shredded into dozens of pieces. Chunks of black flesh rained down into the magma, vanishing one by one in the molten heat.
"Did... it work?" Leon muttered, swallowing hard.
A full minute passed—still no sign of Barbarossa reviving. Leon let out a slow breath of relief.
But just as he began to lower his guard, laughter echoed from deep within the molten magma.
"Hahaha! Did you really think you’d won, Fated One?"
