Without predators, the herbivores might overpopulate and consume too much vegetation. If left unchecked, the entire realm could be overrun by them. But with predators thinning their numbers, everything would remain in harmony.

With these sudden modifications, I had to inform everyone.

Exhausted, we gathered in the largest house—my house—to eat together.

"Call me an alley cat again, and my punch will be the last thing you ever see," she warned before huffing and returning to her seat.

Groaning, Adrian stood up, dusting off his fine clothes. "Oh, look at that! Now I’ve got fur on my shirt, thanks to a certain someone in a maid outfit," he muttered before moving to sit far away from Tama.

I sighed. "Alright, chill out, you two. Adrian, eat up, dude. It’s time for us to go—my mom’s probably worried sick about me right now."

The girls lowered their gazes, clearly saddened. They didn’t want me to leave—they wanted me to stay the night. But I had to go home and rest.

Because tomorrow, I had other plans.

That’s right—I’d be visiting Seraphina to gather intel on the location of the second part of the Key of Ascension.

After dinner, Adrian and I made our way home.

When morning came, I jolted awake before anyone else and headed straight to the Divine Church. Upon arrival, a knight greeted me and told me to wait while she informed the Priestess of my presence.

A few minutes later, the knight returned and instructed me to go to the Priestess’s room.

Reaching the door, I knocked gently.

"Come in," came Seraphina’s soft voice.

"You’re here awfully early. Is there a problem?" she asked.

I pulled a necklace from around my neck and showed it to her. Her eyes widened in shock.

She jolted upright, kicking her blankets away.
