Chapter 178: 178. Business opportunity

I led Kira and his sister to a private space behind the arena stands and opened a Dimensional Door. It shimmered to life as we stepped into my realm, emerging in the heart of my personal town. The moment we appeared, a familiar scent of sweet earth and ripened fruit washed over us.

We headed straight to the orchard.

"Still can’t get over this place," Baji murmured, letting out a low whistle.

The orchard stretched beyond sight, a vibrant tapestry of color and life. Trees arched high with thick branches weighed down by mangoes, crystal-skinned berries, and nectar-dripping pears. The very ground sparkled with dewdrops that shimmered like sugar diamonds under the ethereal sun.

Baji paused beneath a golden pear tree and raised a brow. "Didn’t we clear this section four days ago?"

"We did," I replied, casually plucking a mango. "But fruits grow fast here. The energy in this realm accelerates everything. It’s why this place thrives like no other."

Baji blinked at the golden apple grove ahead. "We could live off this place for years..."

"We could sell off this place for years," I corrected with a smirk. "And that’s exactly what we’re going to do."

Kira glanced at me sideways. "You sure you’ve got time to sell fruit before the next match?"

I flashed him a grin. "A true merchant doesn’t let a chance to sell slip by—not even during a tournament."

Baji laughed. "Now that’s merchant talk! These fruits would fetch a fortune in the capital. I like a man with a business mindset." She gave me a teasing look, licking her lips slowly.

I swallowed hard.

Quickly, I bought a set of crates from my system store and began placing them down. As we started picking fruit, I tried not to stare too long at Baji—who was dressed to kill in tight black leggings, a simple pair of slippers, and a crop top that showed off her belly. Her red lip gloss gleamed when she smiled, and her curves... well, let’s just say they made fruit-picking feel a little sinful. With every stretch, her... assets bounced like they were in their own marketing campaign.

Twenty minutes later, we had four full crates: one of mangoes, one of golden apples, one of pearl fruit, and one of rich purple grapes. We left the rest untouched for later.

I opened the Dimensional Door again, and we returned to the arena grounds. As we approached, several people caught sight of Baji—and instantly perked up.

"That’s her!" someone exclaimed. "The strange fruit lady!"

Within moments, a line started forming. People buzzed with curiosity and excitement, eager to get their hands on the colorful produce. Fruits in this world usually sold for one bronze coin each. We were charging five per fruit—and though people complained, they still handed over their money without hesitation. Which meant we got a gold coin per two fruits.

The grapes, however, weren’t for sale. Baji had her eye on turning those into wine.

Our little pop-up stall quickly turned into a minor sensation, drawing a crowd so large that people began shouting over one another.

"Wait your turn!" Baji called. "We’ve got plenty, but don’t shove! If we run low, we’ll restock!"

They didn’t really listen—until the crowd suddenly parted like a wave.

Seraphina approached, regal as ever, flanked by the Guildmaster and the Duke. Her eyes locked onto me as she reached out a soft hand, smiling.

"Hey... Asher," she said.

I took her hand gently, feeling that familiar softness I hadn’t touched in what felt like forever. "Hey... Priestess."

She laughed softly. "Drop that. You know my name, don’t you?"

Behind her, murmurs rippled through the crowd.

"Why’s the Priestess being so friendly with him?" "Don’t you know? That’s Asher—the guy who saved her last time she went missing!" "Him? Seriously? Doesn’t look like much..."

I ignored the noise and kept my eyes on her, still holding her hand longer than I should have. But who could blame me? Her skin felt like the clouds wrapped in velvet.

"I was planning to check on you this weekend," I admitted, finally letting go. "Didn’t expect we’d meet like this."

"You can come tonight," she said softly. "I’ll be free."

Damn... My heart skipped a beat.

She turned to the crates. "These are what caused the commotion? People were saying some mystery woman was selling the most divine fruits."

I cleared my throat. "Yep. She’s my business partner. Baji."

Baji smiled and extended a hand, greeting Seraphina. As they chatted, I glanced past Seraphina at the Duke—and Liloth.

She wasn’t meeting my eyes.

Strange.

Liloth was never shy. She was fierce, almost intimidating. But now, she stood like a puppet—reserved and quiet. My eyes drifted to her right wrist... and froze.

She wore a strange bangle. Not the same as that which nullified curses which Draegonoth wore... but they were eerily similar. Same black-steel shine, same rune-like etchings. Could it be from the same crafter? The same magic?

I was pulled back by Seraphina’s voice.

"These are... safe to eat, right?"

"Perfectly safe," I assured her, handing her a golden apple.

She took a bite and gasped.

"Goddess above! Is this... food from the heavens?"

The Duke grabbed a pearl fruit and took a bite. His eyes lit up. "Delicious!"

"You try one, dear," he said, offering Liloth a fruit.

She took a bite, nodded, and murmured something under her breath. Even she looked surprised.

"I want more of these!" the Duke declared. "In bulk. And of course, I’ll pay."

I didn’t want to do business with the likes of him—but money’s money.

"I’ll deliver to your estate after I’ve stocked up." I said, forcing a polite smile.

He nodded and walked off with Liloth beside him, who still hadn’t looked me in the eye.

"I’ll see you tonight," Seraphina whispered before turning away, lifting the sides of her flowing white dress as she walked. Heads turned, and whispers followed her like a royal breeze. I couldn’t take my eyes off her either.

After she disappeared into the crowd, back to her VIP seat, we resumed selling—but it didn’t take long before we sold out.

That’s when the loud voice of the announcer boomed across the arena.

"Attention! The Round of 16 elimination matches will begin in ten minutes. All participants to your seats!"

Kira and I moved toward the students’ section. I scanned the crowd and spotted Sharon sitting with my waifus. I waved, and they waved back with bright smiles. I searched for Mom but couldn’t see her. Only Ivy stood alone. She blew a kiss.

I caught it and blew one back. No matter what, Ivy still had a special place in my heart.

After all... she was the first to taste my Rod of Judgment.
