Chapter 2: 2. From Deathbed to Debtor

[Good morning, Asher]

[Welcome to your new life]

[I'm the MILF system, here to help you adapt]

[Let's start with the basics]

[The girl in front of you is Sharon, your sister]

[You've been sick for a long time, that's why she looks like she's seen a ghost]

A female computarized voice echoed in my mind as I hurriedly pulled up my pants. Apparently, I had reincarnated into someone else's body who'd just died.

But wait...

Doesn't that mean I'm not actually related to this so-called sister?

A smirk crept onto my lips, and I suppressed the wicked laugh bubbling in my throat. If we aren't blood-related, then maybe I could—

Geez. I slapped my forehead hard. Get a grip. Have some respect for the guy who owned this body before me. What would he say if he looked down from heaven—or maybe hell—and saw me using his body to hump his own sister? That's messed up.

I let out a deep sigh and turned to Sharon, forcing a wide smile onto my face.

"Hi."

She stared at me as l stared back, noticing how flat her chest was, then, without a word, she bolted out of the room.

I sighed as l flopped onto the bed. As much as I was eager to explore this new world and, of course, start "punishing" women, I couldn't just charge out blindly. I needed to understand this body's origins and the life it came with. I couldn't just stand up and leave, making who ever is related to this body worry. And I definitely couldn't just announce, Hey, your son is dead. I'm actually an old man from another world who died of a heart attack after watching his wife get railed by the garden boy, so now I've taken over his body.

Yeah... that would be messed up big time.

If I didn't want to make things awkward, I had to live like this Asher guy. And, oh... that's the name of my new body; Asher Reynolds.

A few moments later, my pretty—ahem, my sister returned, bringing two more people: a busty, black-haired woman who looked just as beautiful as her, and a man in a white robe.

The woman's eyes filled with tears as she rushed to my bed, cupped my hands, and pulled me into a tight hug, soaking my shirt with her crying.

"My boy... You're back to us. This is a miracle," she sobbed.

[The woman hugging you is your mother]

[She's been worried ever since you got sick]

Oh. So that's how it is.

My mother in my old life had passed away, so having a loving mother in this new life felt... nice. Instinctively, I hugged her back, and to be honest, the warmth of her embrace was comforting.

The man in the white robe stepped closer and extended a hand for a handshake.

"Hey, Asher. It's been a long time."

"Who are you?" I blurted out.

The man's brows furrowed. "I'm Fredrick, your doctor. You don't remember me?"

"I don't," I muttered.

"Strange... Tell me, what do you remember?"

I was cooked. I didn't know a damn thing.

System lady, what do I say? I asked mentally.

The system scoffed.

So much for an assistant!

I might have gotten myself a pretty stubborn system here.

"Uh... I don't remember anything at all." I said to the doctor. He placed a hand on my forehead, muttering some strange words and a bright green light flickered in his palm.

Magic?

So there was magic in this world. Oh, hell yeah! A classic isekai setup. I bet I have some overpowered, infinite skills. I'll have to check them up later.

After a moment, the doctor sighed. "Mrs. Reynolds, your son seems completely fine. In fact, it's strange. He's healthier than ever, as if he was never sick at all. But it looks like he's suffering from memory loss. It may return in time, but for now, he needs care and support to adjust. Treat him like a newborn baby."

Damn it. Why hadn't I thought of using memory loss as an excuse in the first place? Would've saved me the embarrassment. Oh well. At least things were going smoothly.

I glanced at Sharon. She quickly averted her gaze, her cheeks turning red with blush.

Was it because of what she saw when she entered the room earlier?

I turned to my mother and noticed the worry in her eyes. I needed to reassure her.

"Don't worry, Mom. Whether I have my memories or not, I'll always be your son."

Her face brightened, and she pulled me into another hug—tighter this time, pressing her very full chest against me.

After the hug, I decided to shift topics. "So, where's Dad?"

The room fell silent. Mom's face darkened, and she abruptly stormed out, sniffling.

"You idiot! Dad died five years ago," Sharon snapped, crossing her arms. "You shouldn't bring him up in front of Mom, ever! You hear me?!"

"Alright, alright. No need to shout," I said, rolling my eyes.

So, no father, huh? Not bad. That meant I could be the man of the house. I'd take care of Mom, work hard, and give her a decent life.

Looking around the room, it was obvious this family wasn't well off. The bedsheets were old and tattered. The bed itself was barely holding together, propped up by bricks on three corners. The cracked walls only added to the pitiful state of our home.

Fredrick turned to leave. "Alright, Asher. I'll check in on you later. Take care."

"Cool. See you around."

I stretched and stood up. "Alright, Sharon. Show your big brother what I've been missing while I was in my coma."

She scoffed. "First of all, I'm older than you. Secondly, you didn't miss shit. You had nothing to begin with except those childish books over there."

Jeez. Talk about a rude, cocky sister.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Did you cook something? I'm starving."

"Ugh... follow me," she grumbled, leading the way.

I followed her to the kitchen and—yep, I was right. This family was struggling.

She handed me a small piece of bread and a cup of water.

"So... Sharon. Are we... poor?" I asked, taking a bite of the dry bread.

She let out a heavy sigh. "We spent everything on your treatment. Mom sold our house, our property, so we had to move into this dump. Even then, the money wasn't enough, so she borrowed from loan sharks. Now, we're in debt. Over five hundred thousand gold coins."

Damn. They went through all that just for their son... only for me to take over his body.

I clenched my fist.

I'll take care of them. I'd make money, buy them a good house, and give them a better life.

At least, that's what I thought—until reality smacked me in the face.

Making money in this world? Yeah... it wasn't as easy as I imagined.
