My Servant System-Chapter 1349 - 1348: Group Onslaught (12)
Kat PoV
Slipping under the spear thrust, I tried to dart forwards and stab the Dog Goddess in the gut, only to be met with a sweeping kick that threatened to take me off of my feet.
The attempt to leap over it left me open to the retaliatory swing back of her spear, almost catching me in the side and batting me off to the side like I was a baseball, though I was saved by my incredible lover as she erected a wave of flames between me and the golden spear.
As I landed on my feet the Dog Goddess snarled and tried to sweep my legs out again, enduring the flames that had caught her spear and hoping to pounce on top of me and get rid of me as soon as possible.
Her movements were getting quicker and quicker the more we exchanged blows, her fur getting lit on fire the faster she began to move while the ash surrounding her snout thickened with each rapid breath she took or growl she let out.
The Dog Goddess was seemingly warming up - figuratively and literally - with each attack she unleashed, while on my side the magic I was using to keep up was slowly draining the longer this went on, meaning I was on a timer and she was getting stronger naturally.
Of course I also had a second person helping me while there was only this black skinned, red furred bitch standing in front of us, but the size of her was technically equal to our combined size as well, so...
Anyways, the moment I dodged the second leg sweep Leone came to my rescue again, a barrage of bolts slamming into the Dog Goddesses chest to push her back and give me the freedom to reset what I had been doing.
"You need to be quicker, Kat..."
"Would you like to be the one fighting this Goddess-esque monster in close quarters combat? She isn't exactly an easy thing to fight against, just so you are aware!"
The soft chuckle that came from behind me made me a tad irritated, though that faded away and shifted over into my own amusement as I shook my head and shook out the jitters that came from almost being caught twice in rapid succession.
When the Dog Goddess let out a snort that sent a wave of ash and embers my way I was left wondering if it had been an attack or just a distraction as I stepped around it, maneuvering around that wave and keeping my eyes on that spear of hers that always seemed ready to make a move whenever I least expected it.
"I do seem to recall having superior reflexes, so perhaps that might not be a terrible idea..?"
The musings of the Vampire as she watched that spear stab towards me once again flowed into my ears, distracting me a little but also giving me a bit of an edge as I bat that spear aside and slipped closer to the Dog Goddess.
Getting into her guard, I slashed my Falcata across her abs once again to open an even larger wound for Leone to access before kicking off of her and creating some more space between us as I waited to see if my now talkative lover was going to be a larger help now that there was some blood to work with.
"You are far more talkative in this form than normal. Is that a side effect, perhaps? Something that comes with this influx of power..?"
As the Dog Goddess smacked her palm against the wound though I had to let out a sigh as another of our opponents made it difficult for Leone to utilize her fancy ancestral magic; flames exploded from the Dog Goddess' palm as she cauterized the wound right away, and the moment I saw that I sighed.
"Also... maybe your new powers have a bit of a flaw, no? Seems like everyone loves to stop themselves from bleeding as soon as possible... who would have thought?"
Leone gave me a hiss before she slung another bolt at the Dog Goddess, one that swished just past my head as she made a bit of a point, all while we were still in this fight that could swiftly take a turn for the worse...
"They are not flawed. It is just that one of the more beneficial use cases for it seems to be harder to make use of against higher level opponents. This just means I need to find a new source of blood to make use of..."
The way she said that made me shiver a little, but I kept my eyes on the Dog Goddess and waited for her to raise her eyes back to mine as she finished dealing with the wound I had inflicted, causing my lips to curl as she let out a low snarl again.
As I darted forwards to meet her in combat once more I noticed that another projectile streaked past me to help, but this time instead of radiating heat or casting a radiant glow on us both, this was just a streak of red that had that oh so familiar scent.
It was a thin sliver of red liquid that sliced through the black skin of this monster, revealing her flesh and making her growl as she continued to apply pressure to me; our weapons locked together as I caught her spear, providing the perfect opportunity for Leone as she continued to attack from afar.
"Don't go cutting yourself too much now!"
Even as I pushed up against the golden spear and furred muscle of this opponent I still found it in me to quip with Leone, relishing the distraction and finding some strength in that as I held the Dog Goddess back for my lover.
Another projectile buried itself into the Dog Goddess' stomach, cutting up her side and allowing her blood to spill out onto the sands below, drawing another snarl from her maw as she was injured once again, though the sense of danger grew for her as she noticed what she was being hit with.
And because of that I had to create a shield around myself as the Dog Goddess parted her jaws and breathed out a giant plume of scalding ash onto me, forcing me back and allowing her to pull away from me as she turned towards Leone.
Being blinded and somewhat burnt from the sudden attack, I wasn't able to intercept the Dog Goddess immediately as it bounded past me and towards the Vampire, who immediately prepared to defend herself as the black skinned Goddess rushed at her.
