My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 519: Let’s Go Together
"Sis-in-law, sis-in-law, stop staring at me like that," Leon Rivers raised a hand to block Melody Thorne’s gaze.
Melody Thorne walked down the steps towards Leon Rivers, kicking the sofa lightly, "Leon, is there a drug that can make a person faint just with a wave of the hand?"
Leon Rivers replied, "...Do you think you’re in a historical drama?"
Melody Thorne rested her chin on her hand. "I was just thinking, as a woman, I’m never truly safe anywhere, and I don’t even have anything for self-defense. If I were to get captured or injured someday, wouldn’t I have to trouble you?"
Leon Rivers scratched his head with one hand. "Jared has plenty of guns, aren’t those more formidable than other self-defense tools?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"I want something that can make someone faint but not kill them."
Leon Rivers remained silent.
This young lady must be given whatever she asks for. Leon Rivers took a few needles and a small bottle of medication from his toolbox and handed them to her, "Just dab a bit each time you use it. It will cause a temporary shock to a person’s nervous system, like what happened to Sheryl Lancaster’s arm that day."
Melody Thorne accepted it with satisfaction. The exterior was like a lighter, so she wouldn’t hurt herself. If someone like Stella Seymour, who was good at fighting, appeared again, she wouldn’t have to rely solely on words to win.
"Thanks."
"Sis-in-law, use it sparingly," Leon Rivers called out as he watched her back.
Quinn Family study.
Melody Thorne went to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee for Jared Quinn before heading to the study. She gently pushed open the door, and inside, the man standing by the window was on the phone, speaking in English.
Melody Thorne could mostly understand as she quietly walked to the desk, listening intently to Jared Quinn’s conversation.
Listening to the discussion Jared Quinn had with the person on the other end, Melody Thorne’s nerves began to tense.
The gist was that there’s another issue in Crestfall that needs his attention, and Jared Quinn’s plan is to travel there in the next couple of days, reassuring the people there not to worry.
After hanging up the phone, Jared Quinn came to his senses, noticing his young wife staring blankly at him. His tall figure slightly stiffened, then he walked over, "Bold enough to eavesdrop on my secrets? Hmm?"
"You’re going to Crestfall?" Melody Thorne raised her eyebrows, a layer of worry tinging her clean, porcelain features. "Your last injury was because of Crestfall. Why go again this time?"
"There’s some trouble with business over there," Jared Quinn pinched her little nose, indicating she shouldn’t worry, "I’ll be back soon this time."
"I want to go too," Melody Thorne’s eyes exuded determination.
"Hmm?" Jared Quinn retracted his hand, his deep, black eyes like the abyss, ready to swallow her.
His gaze grew darker.
Both of them knew that Crestfall had always tried to get Melody Thorne back. For now, they’ve exercised patience. If Melody went with him and leaked the information, it was highly likely she could fall into the hands of the Seymour Family.
"I mean, if I go with you and your itinerary is kept secret, no one will know we’re there, right? Or do you think my presence would be a burden?"
Melody Thorne looked up at the tall, enchanting man in front of her. They stared at each other, neither willing to concede.
"Determined to go?" Jared Quinn’s deep eyes, like a newly formed storm, began to churn.
