My Superstar Wife Is So Popular-Chapter 856 - 854: Lecturing the Daughter
Jinghen looked at her and gave a playful smile, "If you want to do something naughty, I’m more than willing to cooperate."
Wen Qiao quickly turned her head forward, "I don’t want to, let’s watch the movie."
-
Jinghen really stuck to his word, not bothering Wen Qiao until the movie ended.
After the movie, the two didn’t rush to leave; instead, they leisurely waited until everyone else had left the theater.
Jiang City never sleeps. Even now, approaching midnight, the city’s central commercial street was still brightly lit and bustling with people.
Some office workers were only just heading home after working overtime.
Hand in hand, Wen Qiao and Jinghen walked openly through the streets, weaving through the crowd.
For both, the first date was full of novelty, though Wen Qiao seemed to show it more obviously.
Even when they passed the most ordinary shops, Wen Qiao would drag Jinghen inside for a quick look before coming out again.
Though it was getting late, Wen Qiao didn’t want to go home yet. She dragged Jinghen on an aimless wander, and he followed her lead, letting her guide him wherever.
When it was finally time to head back, Wen Qiao spotted a roadside food stall selling oden, and her cravings got the better of her. She tugged Jinghen along to get some.
The oden stall was very popular, with a line stretching out long, and Wen Qiao peeked ahead with curiosity.
"There are so many people in front of us. We’ll have to wait for a while..."
Jinghen stood behind her, pulled her close to fix her in front of him, holding her from behind, "Stay still for a bit, there are so many people here. You might get knocked over."
Wen Qiao turned around to face Jinghen, pulling open his coat and slipping inside. Finally, she sighed contentedly, "It’s so warm here."
Jinghen wrapped his coat tighter around her, looking down at her tenderly, "Now you realize it’s cold? You wanted to wear those high heels that leave your feet exposed when we left."
"Hey! But I didn’t, did I, so stop nagging," Wen Qiao nestled into his embrace, unwilling to hear Jinghen’s lecture any longer, "You’re going to make my ears grow callouses from your talking. Anybody listening might think you’re scolding your daughter."
Jinghen pinched her waist, a gesture full of affection.
"It tickles, stop pinching my waist!"
Wen Qiao was ticklish, laughed, and tried to dodge to the side, only to be pulled back by Jinghen.
A whiff of a pleasant aroma suddenly wafted into her nose. She sniffed and peeked out from Jinghen’s embrace, searching in the direction of the smell.
Across the street was a stall selling roasted chestnuts, their golden shells encased in brown husks, steaming fresh from the pan. The stall was illuminated warmly with an orange glow, making it look irresistibly cozy.
Wen Qiao leaned on Jinghen’s shoulder, looking for a while, smacking her lips, "I feel like having chestnuts."
Jinghen glanced across the street, "Then why don’t you keep queuing here, and I’ll go get them for you?"
Wen Qiao nodded with a sweet smile, "Okay, thank you, hubby."
Jinghen pinched her cheek playfully, "You always know when to be sweet-talking."
The line at the chestnut stall wasn’t as long as at the oden one.
When it was Wen Qiao’s turn, there were still two people in front of Jinghen.
Wen Qiao picked two must-have radish skewers and two fish roe bags from the oden, along with some other skewers that looked good.
Just after Wen Qiao paid, she suddenly heard a slightly nervous male voice next to her.
"Hi there, miss. Can I add you on WeChat?"
