My Three Beautiful Vampire Wives can hear my Inner Thoughts-Chapter 119: Overgod’s Disguise
In Faith’s point of view, before any of this chaos unfolded, before the crimson light swallowed the sky and before the grassy area turned into a place of madness, Faith had only one simple wish.
She wanted to see Cain again.
In her private chambers, just days ago, she had stood by the tall arched window that overlooked the dark rosy garden of their childhood.
"Why didn’t he greet me this time that I’m back?" She wondered. "Could it be that he forgot me?"
Her fingers had rested lightly against the cool glass as she watched the petals sway under the night breeze. Her reflection stared back at her, calm and composed as always, yet her heart had been anything but steady.
She had heard whispers from her blood maids.
"Lady Faith, Lord Cain has not been seen for a day."
"He is always away, my lady."
"He usually avoids family gatherings so maybe he won’t come."
Each word had weighed on her.
She had intended to find him, to speak clearly and end the quiet tension that lingered between them for years. She wanted to tell him that he did not need to get along with her sisters to face her. He did not need to prove himself to anyone. He only needed to stand before her honestly.
That was all she had wanted.
Yet no matter what she tried, she could not find him.
And now, instead of meeting him properly, she had been dragged out of the grand hall by this mysterious man.
At first she thought he was nothing special.
A bold soldier with strange tricks.
But after witnessing what he had done in mere moments, calming the Moonshade family vampires that had fallen into madness, commanding a blood orb that swallowed the moonlight, chanting ancient words that bent reality around them, she could not ignore the storm of questions rising in her heart.
Who is he?
What does he want with my family?
Did he have a spy inside Moonshade?
Is he after my sister Cornelia, who carries the Princess Bloodline lineage?
Why did he take me here instead of her?
What should I do now?
Her thoughts raced in circles until they felt almost loud enough to echo in the quiet grassy area.
Then her point of view ended as the present returned.
Faith kept her eyes fixed on him.
He stood a short distance away, breathing slowly after expending so much power. The red light from the fading blood orb had vanished, leaving only the pale glow of the moon overhead. His cloak fluttered gently in the night air.
Suddenly, Cain could not help but look at her.
She’s still beautiful as ever, he muttered inside his head.
To him, it was only a private thought, a quiet confession he did not dare speak aloud.
But to Faith, the message was entirely different. She was shocked. Did he?
But she paused.
He did not open his mouth.
And yet she heard it.
And she’s familiar with it.
Her breath stilled.
She suddenly remembered what her bloodmaids had told her earlier.
"Lady Faith, we met Lord Cain—he is often lost in thought; those near him can seem to hear fragments of his mind."
"At first we thought it was a coincidence."
"But it happens many times..."
"We thought it was just in our dreams, but we spoke about it."
At the time, Faith knew Cain would have joined them if they had really seen him, so she simply brushed off what they told her. However, somehow a strange familiarity seemed to radiate from this man.
Could it be that he is—
Faith’s lips parted slightly as she murmured almost soundlessly, "Could it be..."
Her heart pounded.
Then she heard it again.
Should I tell her it’s me? Cain?
Her eyes widened.
It’s really you, she said gaspingly only in her mind, almost without realizing it.
Cain stiffened for a moment, though his face remained composed. He shook his head faintly.
No. I cannot do that right now. I need to use this identity to make divorce her sisters. That’s it.
Faith blinked in surprise.
He wants to divorce my sisters?
For a moment she felt a spark of confusion, then something warmer bloomed in her chest. She thought back to her earlier resolve. After this event, she had planned to ask her sisters to divorce him herself. She did not want him bound by unwanted ties.
It seems he was planning to do that too.
She lowered her gaze slightly, a faint smile forming.
He truly loves only me.
A soft giggle escaped her before she could stop it.
Very well, Cain. If you are playing a role, then I will play along. But you did not greet me once I came back. Let me punish you a little.
She straightened and looked at him with carefully controlled innocence.
"Do you know Cain?" she asked aloud.
Cain froze.
"What?" he replied before he could stop himself.
Faith tilted her head slightly. "Well, the way you stand, the way you look... you are similar to him. Plus, according to my memories, I have never seen you in the Moonshade family before. So do you know him?"
Cain stared at her for a second too long, then cleared his throat.
"Madam, you are mistaken. I am from the Moonshade family, but I am always away."
Faith stepped closer, her eyes locking onto his.
"Really?" she said softly. "I still remember how Cain... no, my husband... grabbed my hand when we were children. And how gentle he was with me."
Cain’s composure cracked for a split second.
"How did you—"
"Excuse me."
A hesitant voice interrupted them.
One of the Moonshade vampires who had transformed earlier approached, his posture still shaky. His clothes were torn, and faint traces of dried blood marked his collar.
He bowed slightly. "Am I disturbing you two?"
Faith was about to say yes with a sweet smile, but Cain spoke immediately.
"No. What is it?"
Faith only smirked at him.
Cain avoided her gaze and focused on the man. "Tell me. What do you want?"
The vampire hesitated, then asked, "May I know your name?"
Cain opened his mouth without thinking. "Ca—" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He caught Faith’s teasing smirk from the corner of his eye.
"...Cage," he corrected smoothly. "I am Cage Moonshade."
Faith clasped her hands behind her back and leaned forward slightly.
"Oooh, Cage Moonshade," she repeated, dragging out the name playfully. "Hehe."
Cain felt heat rise to his face, though he tried to hide it.
The vampire before them suddenly dropped to his knees with a heavy thud.
"I thought I was dying," he said, voice trembling. "I could feel myself losing control. I tried to kill my friend several times. I saw his fear. I could not stop."
His shoulders shook.
"I thought that was the end."
Another vampire approached slowly, then knelt as well.
"I remember tearing through the grassy area. I remember wanting to rip apart anyone in sight. But inside, I was screaming. I could not move my own body."
One by one, more of those who had been affected stepped forward. Some were still weak, leaning on comrades for support. Some had tears in their eyes. Others bit their lips to hide their shame.
They knelt.
All of them.
"Thank you."
"If not for you..."
"I would have killed my brother."
"I nearly tore out my own son’s throat."
Their voices overlapped, filled with raw emotion.
"You saved us."
"You saved the Moonshade family."
"We owe you our lives."
Faith watched in silence as the grassy area that had been filled with violence moments ago now held kneeling nobles and soldiers alike, bowing their heads toward the man who called himself
Cage.
Cain did not speak much.
He only nodded once.
Inside, his chest felt tight.
It was my fault.
The Blood Moon was his spell. His reckless use of power had nearly destroyed them all, including himself. If he had been slower, if his control had slipped for even a breath, they would have exploded from within.
He swallowed his guilt.
Outwardly, he nodded again, calm and composed.
He needed this.
He needed their admiration for his plan to divorce the two sisters without resistance. He needed goodwill to protect Faith from any backlash.
After a long moment, he cleared his throat. "I saved all of you not because I am a good person or because I am one of your family."
"There is something I need from all of you," he added.
They looked up immediately.
"Anything," one replied.
"What is it?" another asked.
Cain straightened his posture and let his voice carry across the grassy area.
"I am merely a wandering member of the Moonshade family. I never truly wanted to return."
Murmurs spread softly among them.
"But during my travels, I met someone."
"Who?" a noble asked.
"A seer," Cain answered.
The word caused immediate reaction.
"A seer?"
"Those who read fate?"
"They are nearly extinct."
"Yes," Cain continued calmly. "A seer."
He let the silence stretch before speaking again.
"She told me that this plane... the world we stand upon... is about to become a battlefield."
The grassy area grew still.
"A battlefield?" someone echoed.
Cain’s gaze hardened.
"Not a simple conflict between families. Not a minor territorial war. A war that will draw powerhouses from other planes."
Faith’s eyes narrowed slightly.
He continued, voice steady but heavy.
"She warned me that even Emperor level powerhouses might fall."
Gasps broke out.
"Impossible."
"Emperors are near invincible."
"Who would dare invade our plane?"
Cain did not hesitate.
"The ones you fought and killed before you turned berserk," he said slowly. "They were not from this plane."
The grassy area fell into stunned silence.
"They were the first wave."
He looked at them all, one by one.
"I came back to relay this news."
