Chapter 145: Overgod’s Massage

The storm of magic had swallowed everything.

Fire, lightning, ice, blades of wind, waves of dark energy, and countless ancient spells had crashed together above the crown of the Devouring Blood Tree. The sky itself seemed to have collapsed under the weight of that violent rain of destruction. The explosions had been so loud that the ground shook again and again like a wounded beast trying to stand.

For a long moment, the battlefield had been nothing but light and thunder.

Then it stopped.

Now only smoke and dust filled the air.

The branches of the Devouring Blood Tree were hidden behind thick clouds of ash and broken mana. Pieces of burned bark drifted down slowly like black snow. The ground around the massive trunk had been torn open by the violent force of the attacks. Cracks ran across the earth like spider webs spreading outward.

The Emperor powerhouses stood below, breathing heavily.

Many of them leaned forward slightly, their shoulders rising and falling as they tried to catch their breath.

Their robes were torn.

Their armor was cracked.

Their hands trembled from the effort they had just poured into that attack.

The horned Emperor wiped blood from the corner of his mouth and stared upward.

"Is... is he dead?" he asked hoarsely.

No one answered.

The snake humanoid narrowed his eyes and stared at the cloud of dust hanging above the tree.

The old rabbit gripped his bone staff so tightly that his knuckles turned pale beneath his fur.

"Watch carefully," the rabbit whispered.

The dust had not even fully settled yet.

The thick gray clouds still floated above the battlefield like a heavy curtain.

Fragments of broken mana drifted through the air like sparks fading after a great fire.

For several seconds, nothing happened.

The Emperors waited.

Their eyes never left the place where Cain had been standing.

Then suddenly—

A faint glow appeared inside the dust.

At first it was only a small flicker.

A tiny spark of red.

One of the Emperors frowned.

"What is that?"

The red light grew brighter.

It spread slowly through the cloud of dust like dye soaking into water.

The gray smoke began turning red.

At first only a few small streaks of crimson appeared among the dust.

Then more followed.

Thin threads of red energy drifted outward.

The air began to vibrate.

The old rabbit’s ears trembled.

"No..." he whispered.

The glow continued spreading.

The dust cloud darkened as the red color deepened.

Light crimson turned into deep crimson.

Then deeper still.

Soon the entire cloud above the Devouring Blood Tree looked like a giant storm made of blood.

The red aura inside the dust grew stronger and stronger.

It pushed outward slowly.

The air trembled like it was breathing.

A low humming sound filled the battlefield.

The sound felt heavy.

Oppressive.

Like the heartbeat of something ancient waking from a deep sleep.

The snake humanoid took a step backward without realizing it.

His forked tongue flicked through the air as he tried to understand what he was feeling.

"This pressure..."

The horned Emperor clenched his fists.

"No one could survive that."

But even as he said the words, his voice lacked confidence.

Because the red aura was still growing.

The dust cloud twisted slowly as waves of crimson energy pushed through it.

The air around the Devouring Blood Tree grew thick and heavy.

Several followers behind the Emperors began stepping backward in fear.

One of them whispered.

"Something is coming..."

Then suddenly—

The red aura exploded outward.

A violent wave of blood mana burst through the dust cloud and spread across the battlefield like a rising tide.

The remaining dust turned completely dark red.

The cloud was no longer gray.

It looked like a storm made of blood.

Then the dust slowly began to fall.

Small pieces of burned bark and shattered mana drifted toward the ground.

The Emperors stared upward without blinking.

Their breathing slowed.

Their eyes widened.

As the red dust cleared...

A figure appeared.

Standing calmly at the top of the Devouring Blood Tree.

Cain.

He stood there completely unharmed.

His long black vampire coat flowed behind him in the heavy wind created by the fading explosion. His pale skin looked almost luminous beneath the dark red sky. Crimson veins still ran across his neck and arms like glowing rivers beneath his skin.

Not a single wound could be seen on his body.

He stretched his shoulders slowly.

Then he looked down at the stunned army below him.

For a moment, he simply smiled.

The smile looked calm.

Almost grateful.

He raised one hand and touched the side of his neck.

Then he spoke.

"Here," Cain said casually.

His voice was relaxed.

Almost cheerful.

He tilted his head slightly and pointed to the side of his neck.

"Attack me here."

The Emperors blinked in disbelief.

Cain rolled his neck slowly as if loosening stiff muscles.

"I need a good massage."

Silence fell across the battlefield.

The horned Emperor stared at him with wide eyes.

"What...?"

The snake humanoid’s pupils shrank.

The old rabbit’s mouth opened slightly.

Cain looked at them patiently.

"Well?" he said with a small smile. "What are you waiting for?"

The Emperors felt a cold chill run through their bodies.

They were Emperors.

Rulers of worlds.

Destroyers of kingdoms.

Yet at that moment...

They felt fear.

Not the kind that came from a powerful enemy.

This was different.

This was the fear of facing something they could not understand.

The horned Emperor suddenly roared.

"DON’T LISTEN TO HIM!"

His voice broke the silence like thunder. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"He’s mocking us!"

Rage exploded inside the army.

"Kill him!"

"Destroy him!"

"Attack!"

The sky erupted again.

Emperor powerhouses leapt into the air one after another.

Blades of lightning cut through the sky.

Giant fireballs roared toward Cain.

Storms of wind howled as they raced upward.

The attacks slammed directly into Cain’s body.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

Explosions burst around him again and again.

Flames covered his shoulders.

Lightning struck his chest.

Blades of wind slashed across his neck.

Yet Cain did not move.

He stood there calmly while the storm of attacks crashed into him.

His head leaned slightly to the side as if enjoying the sensation.

"Ahh..." he murmured.

Another bolt of lightning struck his neck.

Cain closed his eyes for a moment.

"Yes. Right there."

A blade of wind slammed into his throat.

He smiled wider.

"That one was nice."

Below him, the Emperors attacked with everything they had.

They screamed while unleashing spell after spell.

Firestorms roared.

Ice spears exploded.

Thunder shook the sky.

Yet Cain continued standing there like a statue made of iron.

His expression looked almost relaxed.

Occasionally he rolled his neck slightly.

Sometimes he stretched his shoulders.

To him, their attacks truly felt like nothing more than a rough massage.

The snake humanoid shouted while unleashing a storm of venom blades.

"DIE ALREADY!"

The blades struck Cain’s neck repeatedly.

Cain sighed softly.

"You’re trying too hard," he said.

Minutes passed.

The storm of attacks slowly weakened.

The Emperors’ breathing became heavy again.

Their arms trembled from exhaustion.

One by one, their attacks slowed.

Then finally...

They stopped.

The battlefield grew quiet once more.

Cain slowly cracked his neck.

A loud pop echoed through the air.

"Ahh..." he said calmly.

"Finally."

He stretched his arms slightly.

"That was a good massage."

The Emperors stared at him with hollow eyes.

Then Cain turned around.

He pointed at the center of his back.

"Now," he said with a relaxed voice.

"Attack me here."

The horned Emperor screamed in fury.

"YOU MONSTER!"

The Emperors attacked again.

This time their rage burned even brighter.

Blades slammed into Cain’s back.

Lightning exploded across his spine.

Firestorms burned around his shoulders.

The snake humanoid launched himself forward and stabbed Cain’s back with glowing venom blades again and again.

The attacks continued without pause.

Yet Cain stood there calmly while the storm crashed against him.

Occasionally he stretched his shoulders.

Sometimes he nodded slightly.

"Yes," he said with a satisfied tone.

"Right there."

Another explosion slammed into his back.

Cain sighed in pleasure.

"That one was good."

The Emperors attacked until their arms felt heavy as stone.

Until their mana ran dry.

Until their breathing sounded like broken bellows.

Finally they stopped again.

Their bodies trembled from exhaustion.

Their eyes looked dull with despair.

Cain slowly turned around.

He rolled his shoulders once more.

Then he smiled at them.

A calm, relaxed smile.

"At least," he said softly.

"All of you are still useful."

The Emperors stared at him in silence.

Cain gestured toward the massive Devouring Blood Tree behind him.

"For my Devouring Blood Tree."

He chuckled quietly.

"That was a relaxing massage."
