Chapter 91: High Blood Pressure 2/2

The vampires sprawled across the marble floor could barely breathe.

Their bodies were pinned down as though an invisible mountain had descended upon them.

Veins bulged along their temples. Their fingers clawed against the smooth stone, nails scraping uselessly as they tried to push themselves up.

"What is this... what is happening?"

"My body... I can’t move..."

"Why can’t I stand?"

One of the younger vampires coughed, his cheek pressed hard against the floor. "This is Blood Pressure, right? It has to be Blood Pressure!"

"But that’s impossible!" another shouted, his voice trembling. "We are in the Blood Condensation Realm. Lady Cornelia is only in Blood Infusion Realm, eleventh stage. Even if her bloodline is strong, her realm is lower. How are we being suppressed like this?"

"That kind of pressure should not affect us!"

"I can’t even lift my head!"

"It feels like my bones are being crushed!"

Several of them attempted to circulate their blood energy, trying to resist the overwhelming weight pressing on their bodies. The moment they did, the pressure increased, as if mocking their effort.

"This is wrong!" someone cried out. "Normal Blood Pressure can only suppress those of lower realm being. It weakens the body, yes, but not like this. Not to this degree!"

"My vision is blurry..."

"I feel like my heart is being squeezed..."

A female vampire groaned, her voice strained. "It is not just pressure. It feels like... like my blood itself is being ordered to kneel."

The words sent a cold chill through those who could still think clearly.

Blood being ordered to kneel.

They were vampires. Their blood was their pride. Their blood was their power. For it to feel like it was bowing without their consent was terrifying.

"This is not normal Blood Pressure," one whispered hoarsely. "This is something else."

Meanwhile, on the raised platform, the ancestors struggled as well.

Their cultivation was in the Blood Foundation Realm. Even if some were only at the first or second stage, they were still far above Cornelia in pure realm. A few of them were even at the fourth stage.

Yet they too felt their bodies grow heavy.

One ancestor tried to rise from his seat, only to find his knees trembling violently. He slowly sank back down, his hands gripping the armrest tightly.

"What... is the meaning of this?" he muttered. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Another elder turned his head stiffly toward him. "You feel it too?"

"Yes."

"I thought perhaps my old bones were failing me."

"This is no illusion," a third ancestor said, his voice grave. "My blood is responding to her."

"That is impossible," the first ancestor snapped quietly. "Blood Pressure follows realm hierarchy. It should not suppress us to this degree."

A long silence passed between them, broken only by the heavy breathing of those below.

Then one of the older ancestors narrowed his eyes.

"Unless," he said slowly, "it is not ordinary Blood Pressure."

The others looked at him sharply.

"You mean..."

The words hung in the air like thunder waiting to strike.

"That technique has not appeared in the noble vampires for generations," one ancestor murmured. "It is said to be an advanced manifestation of bloodline dominance. It does not follow realm rules strictly. It suppresses blood purity and dominance, not just blood realm level."

Another elder’s hands trembled slightly. "But she is only at Blood Infusion. Even if her bloodline is pure, to display High Blood Pressure at this level..."

"It means her bloodline potential is terrifying," the oldest among them said quietly. "It means her foundation is far deeper than we estimated."

They fell silent, exchanging looks heavy with meaning.

"This girl..." one of them whispered. "She might become the pillar of the Moonshade in this generation."

"Or more than that," another added softly.

On the floor, the younger vampires were still struggling.

"I cannot believe this..."

"We were mocking earlier..."

"Her Blood Pressure suppressed even the ancestors!"

"Do you understand what this means?"

One of them suddenly forced out a shaky laugh, half hysteria, half awe. "We just experienced High Blood Pressure. The legendary kind!"

"Shut up, you fool," someone hissed. "You sound excited."

"I am excited!" he shot back despite being crushed to the floor. "This is history! This is something recorded in ancient scrolls. It is said that High Blood Pressure can even suppress those of higher realms if their bloodline purity is inferior!"

Another gasped. "So that means... Lady Cornelia’s bloodline is..."

"Beyond what we thought."

"Incredible."

"Terrifying."

"Beautiful."

"I can’t believe I’m being crushed and yet I feel honored."

"Are you insane?"

"Maybe!"

Laughter broke out, strained but real.

Even under pressure, awe began to replace fear.

Cain stood in the middle of it all, his expression calm, but his thoughts were far from peaceful.

He looked at Cornelia carefully.

Disappointment flickered in his eyes.

So she used it.

His plan had been simple. Let the clan continue to doubt him. Let them think he was weak. Let them plot quietly. Let them trouble him later. That way, he could observe, calculate, and eliminate problems one by one.

But now?

After this display, who would dare?

They would cower.

They would swallow their intentions.

They would hide behind false smiles.

He cracked his neck slightly, a faint sound echoing in the tense hall.

Something has been strange since yesterday, he thought.

Ivira had grown bold.

Now, Cornelia has become even more headstrong.

They were acting with a confidence that felt different.

What is giving them that confidence?

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Then a thought struck him.

Don’t tell me...

Can they read my mind?

His heart skipped a beat.

No.

If they could truly read everything, they would have already controlled him completely. The blood pact bound him. If they issued direct orders, he would not be able to resist.

He would become their puppet.

Like a dog.

So what is happening?

Cain felt a rare flicker of uncertainty.

Could it be they sense something about me?

Could it be that they know I am not ordinary?

Do they know I am an Overgod reborn?

Or are they simply kind hearted and stubborn?

The last thought almost made him laugh internally.

Or are they just kind hearted that’s why they didn’t control me?

In this vampire family?

Still, he could not rule anything out.

Fine.

Let’s test it.

Cain forced his mind to quiet down.

He stopped thinking in clear sentences. He suppressed structured thoughts. He let his mind drift blankly, focusing only on the sensation of air entering and leaving his lungs.

Meanwhile, Cornelia’s heart pounded.

He became aware.

The thought flashed across her mind like lightning.

Did he notice?

Did he realize I can hear him?

Her palms felt slightly cold.

There is nothing wrong with what I did, she reassured herself. I did not release my blood pressure without reason. I used it to protect my marriage. To protect his dignity.

Still, the timing...

She took a slow breath.

No. I must make it look like an accident.

The crimson mist around her began to thin.

She pulled her blood pressure back into her body slowly and carefully. The weight pressing on the hall lessened little by little.

The vampires on the floor gasped as the crushing force faded.

They rolled onto their backs, coughing, gulping air.

Cornelia widened her eyes deliberately.

"What... what is going on?" she asked, her voice filled with confusion.

She looked around, her brows slightly furrowed. "Ancestors? Uncles? Why are you all on the floor?"

Her tone was innocent.

"I... I am sorry," she said quickly. "I did not mean to offend anyone. I felt my blood reacting and lost control for a moment."

Cain’s gaze sharpened.

Too smooth.

Too deliberate.

The ancestors slowly stood up from the floor. Their movements were measured, dignified, but their eyes were no longer the same.

They looked at one another.

No one spoke at first.

It felt as though time had paused between them.

One ancestor adjusted his sleeve quietly.

Another cleared his throat.

A third narrowed his eyes slightly, then gave the smallest nod.

In that silent exchange, messages passed.

You felt it too.

Yes.

It was High Blood Pressure.

We must not show anger.

This is a blessing.

We have found a treasure.

Their gazes softened when they turned back to Cornelia.

One of them even allowed a faint smile.

On the floor, the younger vampires suddenly burst into cheers.

"Holy shit!"

"That was real!"

"I can’t believe it!"

"We just experienced High Blood Pressure firsthand!"

"Do you understand what that means?"

"It means Lady Cornelia’s bloodline dominance is monstrous!"

"Even the ancestors were suppressed!"

"Not just suppressed. We were flattened!"

Another laughed loudly, sitting up and wiping sweat from his forehead.

"I always thought High Blood Pressure was exaggerated in the scrolls. That it was some old legend. But this... this was real!"

"I felt my blood trembling!"

"It was like it recognized her as superior!"

"That’s not normal suppression. That’s bloodline dominance!"

"Our Moonshade family is blessed!"

"Yes!"

They looked at Cornelia with new admiration, even reverence.

Some even bowed deeply despite just recovering.

Cornelia blinked, acting surprised.

"I... I truly did not mean..."

"It is fine!" one vampire shouted happily. "It proves your strength!"

"It proves our future is bright!"

"We are honored to witness it!"

Their earlier fear had transformed into excitement.

Cain watched all of this silently.

Then, slowly, Cornelia turned her head.

Her eyes met his.

For a brief moment, everything around them seemed to fade.

The noise.

The cheers.

The whispers.

It was just the two of them.

Cain kept his mind blank.

Empty.

Still.

Cornelia held his gaze steadily.

And then—

In that instant—

He saw it.

A flicker.

A tiny reaction in her eyes.

A response not to his expression.

But to the absence of his thoughts.

His heart skipped.

He widened his eyes slightly.

Cornelia you–

You really read my mind!?
