Chapter 97: Worldshift Breach(III): Clearing Out The Trouble (Bonus)

Due to Amplification, each bullet moved at double its normal speed and power. The shots rang out like thunder, tearing through the air and striking their targets with pinpoint accuracy.

The creatures shrieked and stumbled as bullets riddled their bodies. Some managed to evade by diving to the side while others abandoned their chase entirely to regroup.

But Finn’s bullets were normal projectiles. They weren’t artifacts or enchanted rounds, and while it hurt these monsters, it still wasn’t enough to kill them outright.

Smoke drifted from the revolvers’ nozzles as Ethan descended and landed close by to Anna. He glanced at her briefly and gave a small nod, as though reassuring her it was okay to let her barrier drop now.

Anna hesitated for just a second before lowering her trembling arms. The bluish barrier dissolved into motes of light as she collapsed onto one knee beside the crying girl.

Ethan dropped to one knee beside the injured girl and raised his right palm over her wounded leg. A soft green glow emanated from his palms as he activated Lesser Heal.

With his Amplification trait doubling the effect of the Tier 3 healing spell, the magic worked faster and more efficiently than it normally would.

Her wounded flesh began knitting itself back together as the girl’s sobs quieted into shaky breaths. But right then, Ethan noticed movement in his peripheral vision.

They were getting surrounded.

More of those creatures had emerged and were slowly closing in from multiple angles.

Nina remained in front of them defensively, her shield raised and her sword ready. Her eyes tracked every single creature as they moved, calculating threats and distances.

Ethan glanced at both girls; the exhausted Anna, who could barely keep herself upright, and the recovering Mallory student, who was still trembling from pain and fear.

He quickly assessed their body stature and weight, running calculations in his head. Could he pull this off?

Then one of the creatures lunged forward with its weapon raised high. But without giving it another thought, Ethan grabbed both girls by the hands and all three of them vanished in a burst of smoke.

In the same instant they disappeared, Nina spun around in one fluid motion and swung her Longsword of Pythos in a wide arc. Flames erupted along its edge as the blade cleaved the lunging creature clean in half.

The other monsters shrieked in unison and threw themselves at the half dragon summon.

Meanwhile, Ethan and the girls reappeared roughly a hundred meters away in another burst of smoke.

The reason he had to assess their weight beforehand was due to the limitations of Albedo’s Short Distance Teleport skill.

The ability could only be triggered if the total weight being transported didn’t exceed twice that of the user. If either girl had been too heavy, or if both combined had pushed past that threshold, the skill wouldn’t have activated at all.

Both Anna and the Mallory student were still dazed, blinking a few times in confusion as they tried to process what had just happened.

Ethan turned toward the injured girl and asked quickly, "Can you walk now?"

She nodded shakily and he helped her to her feet before guiding both of them even further away from the battle raging nearby.

Back on the battlefield, Nina was making quick work of the creatures that came at her in waves.

A single horizontal swipe of her flaming blade cleared out three monsters at once, with their bodies splitting apart mid-charge before collapsing into burning flames.

She flung her Shield of Pythos like a frisbee and it traveled in a deadly circular pattern through the air.

The shield’s edge sliced clean through the limbs and torsos of these creatures, carving its way through the horde before returning to her raised left hand.

And caught it effortlessly without breaking eye contact with the remaining monsters.

The few creatures that were still alive began backing away slowly. And although it was hard to tell from their expressions, that very action signified one thing..

Fear.

Nina’s gaze then turned toward the one that was clearly their leader: the taller creature holding the proper sword and chain.

She pointed her blade directly at it and motioned with her free hand for it to come forward.

The creature stared at her for a long moment before finally letting go of the chain attached to the Lupamancer’s head.

It took one step forward, then another, before suddenly blitzing towards the half dragon summon.

The creature moved with shocking speed as it closed the distance between them in an instant, raising its jagged sword and bringing it down with tremendous force aimed directly at Nina’s head. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

However, the crimson tempest raised her Shield of Pythos above her head just in time to catch the strike.

CLANG!

There was an orange glow on the shield’s surface as it absorbed the full brunt of the attack with almost no scratch appearing on its body.

In the next split second, Nina thrust her longsword forward in a vicious stab aimed at the creature’s torso.

But it reacted quickly and leaped backward, creating distance between itself and Nina’s blade.

However, the summon didn’t give it a single second to recover.

The moment the creature’s foot touched solid ground, barely steadying itself, she launched forward at such blinding speed that she broke the sound barrier.

BOOM!

The shockwave rippled outward as Nina closed the gap in an instant and swung her flaming sword horizontally toward the creature’s torso.

It barely managed to raise its own blade vertically in a desperate block attempt.

But the sheer strength behind Nina’s swing carried enough force to send the creature flying backward like a ragdoll despite its successful parry.

It crashed into the ground hard enough to leave a crater before bouncing and managing to roll back onto its feet in a defensive stance.

There was no way this creature would have lasted even this long if it hadn’t been at least A-Grade in strength.

The creature let out a shriek of frustration and rage as it glared at Nina with those weird looking eyes.
