My Vampire Wives Want My Blood!-Chapter 66- Blood Momentum (Part 1)
Chapter 66- Blood Momentum (Part 1)
"..." Pursing her lips, Fiona nodded her head. His words hit her heart in a way she could never expect. This wasn’t the first time Elio had done such a thing. He had a way to always reach her heart in the weirdest ways possible, whether that was good or bad. His words always hit the point, and she didn’t know whether she liked or hated that.
In any case, she felt rather relieved. This was the first time in her life that someone understood her and her struggle. This was the first time someone had truly seen her as the person she is and not the prodigy Vampire Hunter and the heir of the Vaylor clan.
It felt surreal. She didn’t know how to feel about it and if she even deserved such a thing. She had accepted long ago that this was her, a cold and ruthless person who does everything with the sole goal of destroying the Vampires and eradicating their existence.
"Happiness... Huh..." Fiona muttered as she closed her eyes. She was still not sure what she was supposed to do to achieve this happiness, but she at least saw it now, and while she doesn’t think it is extremely necessary... She would be lying if she said that she didn’t want to experience it at least once in her life.
She wanted to know what it tasted like for a brief second and then go back to her eternal duty.
For a few minutes, the two sat in silence again, just resting and waiting for help to come. Elio expected it to take a while, so he didn’t do much aside from focusing on trying to recover his energy and heal his injuries.
As he was like that, channeling his energy quietly, he suddenly heard a noise. Quickly, he looked up and straight into the depths of the cave. His eyes turned wary, and he clenched his fists.
"Did you hear that, Fiona?" Elio asked. The girl nodded faintly. That noise wasn’t water droplets as before, but rather a ruckus, a noise only something alive would create.
"I’m going to borrow your sword, Elio said as he picked up the heavy sword and unsheathed it. Then, he stood up and walked slowly toward the source of the noise. After moving a dozen meters away from Fiona, he stopped and stared around. There was nothing out of order around him.
’Hm? What was that noise? I can’t see anything?’ Elio frowned. After waiting for a while, he decided to turn around and head back. As he was stepping back, Fiona suddenly spoke with the loudest voice she could possibly muster.
"Eli...o... Behind... you..." She said with a pained look as she coughed a mouthful of blood.
"Huh?"
Before the boy could realize, his senses kicked in, capturing the presence of something that was flying toward him at high speed. Without wasting a single breath, Elio turned around as he dodged the attack by rolling to the side at the very last second.
All he saw before that was a very sharp tip, reflecting the light from the outside world. It passed mere inches away from his head.
"What the hell?!" Elio winced in pain as he landed on his back before he rose from the ground. There, flopping its wings was a considerably large creature. It was covered in black fur from head to toe and was almost the size of Elio’s head.
It looked like a bat, but far uglier and more disturbing. It had one eye, sharp fangs, and a terrifying, long stinger protruding out of its lower body. The way it flapped its wings created a sound like that of a wasp, except far stronger.
Staring at Elio, it flew again, fast as a flash, as it aimed its stinger at his face, ready to stab his eye.
The boy quickly channeled his energy to the extreme, enhancing his reaction speed as he swung his sword. Surprisingly, the boy was still almost as fast, if not faster, than the creature.
*Swish*
Even with his clumsy swing, he still delivered a terrifyingly precise slice. The monster couldn’t dodge it in time, and the sword severed it in half with ease. Blood splurted out everywhere before the monster fell to the ground.
Seeing it fall dead, Elio exhaled a shocked breath. "What the hell is this thing? A bat?"
’It attacked me out of nowhere. This is definitely not an earth creature...’ He muttered. ’I wonder if it heard us from the inside.’
"Cough, cough!"
Fiona’s coughs snapped him out of his daze and made him rush toward her in a hurry. "Are you ok, Fiona? Fiona!"
’Shit, she has coughed so much blood out.’ Elio clenched his teeth. Even though she had been able to stay conscious, that didn’t mean she wasn’t dying rapidly. The fact that she was able to hold on for so long was shocking, to say the least. Now, seeing her cough up parts of her lungs with her blood, Elio’s heart sank down to his stomach.
"I’m... fi..."
"Don’t speak. Just conserve your energy. Help is on the way." Elio said as he rubbed her shoulder. "I need to get some water to clea-"
Before he could even finish that sentence, Elio’s senses picked up another alarming silhouette flying toward him.
’More?!’
However, much to his horror, he sensed another one the next second, then another one, and another one. A swarm quickly accumulated, and it was all heading toward him from the depths of the cave.
His face paled, and his heart raced. He didn’t even have the time to think before he saw the black cloud of monsters appearing in the vicinity, all aiming for him.
"You have got to be kidding me..." He muttered. Standing there, alone, against this giant swarm... Elio could only mutter in disbelief.
It was only at that moment that they realized that their battle was far from over... They were, in fact, facing the threat that would pose them the greatest challenge.
