My Vtuber System Wants Me to Stream in a Dungeon?!-Chapter 41: Retired Paladin Invaded Alien Planet and Abducted a Child
Chapter 41 - Retired Paladin Invaded Alien Planet and Abducted a Child
After midnight, all system’s skills and livestream cooldowns reset. Parita continued her stream, unaware of the time in the outside world. She booted the same game to capture more oil-generator insect aliens.
Neutrophils and Sparrow joined the stream as fellow players. However, Andean didn’t show up, but a new subscriber took his place.
In place of Andean was a tall person with an odd-shaped helmet. It didn’t seem to fit for a regular human but someone with a long head or large jaws of a lizardman.
Bald Eagle
The name gleamed in gold even though she was a new player.
Parita stood at the center of her spacecraft lobby, staring at the three players. She glanced at the floating names above their heads and sighed. She ignored the glowing name and the background of the vampire-reptilian woman.
"Welcome back and welcome, my... new toilet disciple, I guess."
Neutrophils and Sparrow snickered as they looked forward to retrying the mission. As for the newcomer, she looked around the ship’s interior and admired the equipment. Ignoring Parita and others, she stormed toward an NPC, who gazed at the crowd with a wary look.
"You there." The new player revealed her deep voice of a lizardwoman. "Teach me about this place. How do I change my equipment and weapons?"
Even though the enigmatic hxlldiver wore a ridiculous helmet, was very tall, and spoke with an odd, reptilian accent, the democracy officer responded with a calm voice.
"You may use that console to manage your weapons, suits, and the store. In case you wish to switch your strategems, head to that console in the lobby."
"Console?"
The reptilian shifted her gaze and located both consoles. She walked straight to the loadout setting console to switch her starting weapon. Instantly, she noticed that she had a limited choice, and she couldn’t find the weapon that Parita had been using in the previous stream.
Bald Eagle turned to Parita and pointed at the console.
"Goddess, can you come here for a second?"
Parita tilted her head. Facing the reptile’s frank tone and straightforward attitude, she was slightly taken aback. She cooperated regardless, since they gave her money.
"What up?"
Parita peeked at Bald Eagle’s loadout screen and noticed that the lady had the starting loadout settings.
Bald Eagle then pointed at the incendiary shotgun in Parita’s arms. "I want to use your weapon. I saw you fight yesterday, and I want to try it."
If Bald Eagle had asked this question yesterday, she would have told Bald Eagle to farm some credits and purchase the items herself. Since Parita played the game using the system’s "VR" mode, she could do something that the game never allowed players to do.
Parita passed the shotgun and the ammunition packs that she was carrying to the reptile.
"Here. Give me your guns and ammo. Let’s trade."
"Oh? That simple?"
"This typically would have been impossible because charity isn’t inherently capitalistic or democratic. But hey, it’s my ship, and I do whatever I want."
Parita turned around and gave the ship’s officer a meaningful look. The NPC snorted and pretended not to look at them.
Bald Eagle grinned, but the oversized helmet concealed her expression. She traded her weapons and ammo with Parita and bowed.
"I shall remember your donation."
"You sound like a priest or a cultist. What are you?" Parita scrutinized Bald Eagle.
"I am a paladin from the Eagle family. I’m also cursed by the blood, but I am already walking the path of light."
"???"
Parita scratched her helmet, confused. She turned to look at Neutrophils.
"Eagle family? Do we have a mafia clan in our city?"
The retired paladin shrugged and explained. "I see that you’re clueless about the clans. The Eagle Clan is a group of adventurers, officials, and military soldiers who lived through the previous Bloodscorch War. The lass here got bloodscorched during one of the battles. Fortunately, her faith and purity saved her from the corruption."
Parita rolled her eyes. "I don’t get it."
Sparrow coughed and summarized. Lady Bald Eagle is the vice leader of the Eagle Clan, which also operates directly under the Ikol Church. Every member of the group has been bitten by a hunger and survived."
Parita paused for a long time as she glared at Neutrophils, who imprisoned her. She inhaled deeply and asked in a deep voice.
"And why am I imprisoned if being bitten is fine?"
The reptilian lady laughed. "No, I’m definitely not fine. I’m currently suppressing the cursed blood with holy water and garlic. I still need to drink animal blood once in a while to maintain my strength, though."
Parita was still confused. Fortunately, Bald Eagle summarized it in a version that Parita could understand.
"In short, I’m now a vampire."
"Oh, a vampire paladin. I see. I see..."
Parita and everybody paused for 10 seconds. Everybody waited for her response, but Parita’s brain encountered an error. After her brain cells registered the information, she came back to her senses.
"Wait a second. A lizard, a vampire, and a paladin? And you freaking use holy water and garlic on yourself? I mean... WHAT?!"
"To be precise, I drink holy water and eat garlic for sustenance. Blood and raw meat are junk food to me."
"...A reverse-vampire who drinks holy water... Okay, I get it. Cool D&D character concept."
Parita smacked her visor. She had a headache due to the bizarre information. After a deep inhale, she shifted the conversation.
"Have you guys been watching my stream? You know the drill, right?"
Neutrophils and Sparrow nodded. Bald Eagle also shrugged. "Tell us what to do."
"Let’s warm up properly this time. I’ll set the difficulty low so that you can get the right idea of what we’re doing."
Parita entered the bridge and chose a new world to invade. Instead of jumping onto the meme planet, she picked a neighboring star — Estanu.
This star system was once a famous tourist spot for casual players in Parita’s world. Whenever this star was accessible, over a hundred thousand hxlldivers gathered here to liberate it. New and experienced players found this place fun and relaxing.
The star itself was a barren wasteland, but it had fewer hazardous events. The visibility was clearer, cleaner, and easier to navigate.
Parita dropped the difficulty to level 7 so that the local monsters wouldn’t be summoned infinitely.
The group knew what to do. They dropped to the star.
Unlike the last time, Sparrow and Neutrophils restrained themselves from unleashing hell and attracting countless insects from the entire planet. After reflecting on their past blunders and the prior broadcast, they requested support weapons. Everybody got a machine gun each.
The primary mission was a simple eradication mission. They simply had to kill a certain number of enemies within the time limit. However, they would be overrun by the endless horde of bugs.
Parita came ready. She dropped a few rocket launchers and a resupply backpack for the others. Since she didn’t need guns, she tossed her rifle and magazines to the ground. Parita took the annoying helmet off and walked straight toward a rising behemoth.
Without looking at her teammates, she warned them.
"You can fight however you want. But if someone dies, you should use the reinforcement strategem ball. Don’t get drowned in the moment, alright?"
Neutrophils and Sparrow chuckled. "Understood."
The fat behemoth, a beetle-like giant insect, charged straight at Parita. She raised her left arm and stopped its charge. Grabbing its face with one hand, she crushed it. The giant bug froze for a few seconds and collapsed.
"Scary." Sparrow chuckled. "Has the curse gotten you or was that your normal strength?"
"It’s called the nut-cracking grip." Parita flexed.
Neutrophils laughed. "Keep your hands away from my balls, then, lady."
"As long as you don’t go after my skirt."
"I’m over 300 years old. Hell, I’m older than some of you elves. I’m not into children."
Parita looked at Neutrophils, stunned by the revelation. She asked him. "Can all humans live as long as you?"
Bald Eagle coughed and explained. "Nah. Lord Neutrophils is an exception. Grand paladins receive the blessing of the goddess Ikol. He’s basically a demi-god. He doesn’t age, and he’s immune to all diseases."
"..."
"And if he passes the Trial of Blind Faith, his appearance will revert back to his prime, and he can self-resurrect once. All injuries will be instantly healed."
’Well, damn. Where can I sign up? Can I join the paladins?’ Parita thought.
DING
[You have a system. You don’t need other deity’s blessings.]
’...Boo. Why not?’
[Deities aren’t honest. Your lifespan may be shortened if you accept a deity’s blessing, especially Ikol.]
[Also FYI, Ikol is Loki backward.]
"..."
Parita flinched and paused to contemplate the local culture and religion. While standing still, emerging monsters attacked her. Her skin was grazed by their claws, barbed arms, and mandibles, yet they didn’t leave a mark.
’Say, how many gods and goddesses are there in this world?’
[NDA. I can’t tell you that information.]
’Which god realm are you from? Asgard? Olympus? The Underworld?’
[NDA.]
’Come on. Can’t you give me a hint?’
[...No.]
’Stinky!’
[I take a bath three times a day. You don’t.]
’Hey! I DID take a bath this morning!’
Parita pouted and turned around, backhanding a brood commander that had been gnawing on her head and shattering it on impact. She peeled the bug’s head out of her broken helmet and punched several insects in front of her, venting out frustration.
.
.
The mission was easy. The trio got to play to their heart’s content. The extraction ship descended to pick them up. The horde of monsters didn’t bother pursuing them.
Sparrow, Neutrophils, and Bald Eagle looked at the passenger ship with a skeptical look and refused to board the ship. They looked at Parita, waiting for her instructions and reactions.
However, Parita didn’t hop on the ship right away. She leaped to the border of the area and snatched two confused scavengers by their heads and dragged them toward the ship.
After Parita got on the ship and put the abducted bugs on her lap, Sparrow and others gave Parita a weird look.
"Why are you taking them?" Sparrow asked.
Parita grinned. "Aren’t they cute? Oh, do you know that these guys taste like lobsters?"
"Lobsters... what?!"
Bald Eagle exchanged glances with Neutrophils. They copied Parita and snatched one basketball-sized monster each. They boarded the ship, imitating Parita. Only Sparrow sighed deeply and boarded the extraction ship without taking extra souvenirs.
The hatch closed automatically, and the ship ascended. The mission was completed.
.
.
When Parita arrived at the ship, the others vanished, having been sent back to the real world.
As the system had promised, Neutrophils, Bald Eagle, and Sparrow returned to the real world with souvenirs, aka the game’s weaponry and ammunition that they carried over from the last mission.
Neutrophils regained his senses and found himself in his workshop. He looked around him and spotted a new set of armor, weaponry, and ammunition that he had used in the game.
In addition, there was a dead bug nearby. It was the monster that Neutrophils had taken with him.
