My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit-Chapter 268 - 252: Second Entry into the Black Mist Council
This now makes four problem children.
And all of these problem children come from the Otherworld.
The good news is that White Crow and Little Dragon Lady get along especially well. Back then, they played snowball fights together and chased down people to gnaw on the Bread Knight.
Although White Crow went a bit crazy later and turned into a lunatic loli who talks about purity while hitting people, she should still be able to play with the Little Dragon Lady somehow.
As for the other one...
"Boss, boss, I'm Siam, a cat beastman. You can call me Siam Meow. I'm the woman who's going to become the first strategist of the Celestial Kingdom in the future!" The cat-girl, barely 1.2 meters tall, confidently pointed her thumb at her chest.
Xue Dili: "..."
He looked pitifully at his aunt who was washing dishes at the moment, his eyes full of plea for help.
"Aunt, why don't you take care of the kids? Anyway, whether it's one sheep or four sheep, it's still shepherding," Xue Dili asked tentatively.
Aunt: "..."
She rubbed her hair with a headache and was even more distressed seeing the two little girls with obvious beastman features.
"Why don't you find a wife and dump all these troublesome things on her?" Aunt sighed and said.
Xue Dili: "..."
Even back home, they're still pushing me to get married!
...
After much busying around, Aunt eventually decided to temporarily take care of these kids.
She deliberately asked Xue Dili for some children's books, historical stories, and various educational books.
And the kids' basics are completely different; she did a little digging.
Little Dragon Lady is at a kindergarten level, only able to speak basic sentences, and even now she's not fluent in speaking.
Fafnir is at a middle school level. Aside from struggling with math, she's similar to a middle school student, and having memorized so many ideological and political texts, her grades in liberal arts are probably not bad.
As for White Crow and Siam, these two newly arrived beast-eared maidens are at an elementary school level. They've never been to school but know some basic words and arithmetic, and they learn Xue Dili's language relatively quickly.
Thus, the first Otherworld problem child classroom began.
Thankfully, with Aunt around, Xue Dili was able to relax; otherwise, the situation would have given him a splitting headache.
Having four Otherworld lolis living at home...
...
The afternoon classes finally ended, and in the evening, Aunt made a big pot of rice and seven to eight dishes. In Xue Dili's living room, the four lolis sat in a crowd eating dinner, and even Little Dragon Lady learned some table manners.
Fafnir became the loli king of the four small ones. Seems like her animal affinity works with the beast-eared maidens too.
Then after dinner, the four little ones rushed to the TV simultaneously, and Xue Dili only heard them shouting over there.
"Orb... watch Orb..." said Little Dragon Lady.
"Watch Tiga, it's better." said Fafnir.
"Sea Tiger, I want to watch Sea Tiger! Or any battle of other world-shaking powerhouses!" This was from the two new beast-eared maidens.
Xue Dili: "..."
These two kids were thoroughly polluted by the Old Demon Emperor and now turned into lolis who only know bliss and brawling.
Thankfully, Sea Tiger has not been made into an anime, or else it would have been a disaster.
With a headache, Xue Dili returned to his bedroom on the second floor and closed his eyes.
But he suddenly realized that it might be time for the Black Mist Council again, so he got up immediately and opened the Modifier.
The Faceless Mask was damaged, but it didn't matter because now the Modifier can directly pull up similar functions from the background. This time, unlike before, Xue Dili didn't get dragged into the villain group unprepared.
This time, his main task was to find out who among them enslaved the Giant Dragon, preferably forming some connection and obtaining some intelligence.
In the current intel, all that is known is that the Apostle is a woman, but her exact identity, information, and other details remain unclear even to the dragons.
Just knowing that the being started acting at least 65 million years ago and has survived till now, and their strength should be around Quasi-Tier Six...
Quasi-Tier Six... to be honest, above Tier Five already involves world powers or Venerable King Fragments; he could never imagine what a world above Tier Six would be like.
Like when the Great Sage taught him, he never imagined what situations above Tier Five would be like.
He took a deep breath. Although to get above Tier Five involves fighting for world powers or using Venerable King Fragments, regular beings at their most powerful are only at Quasi-Tier Five.
To get above Tier Five, as he knows currently, one is by absorbing the corresponding Venerable King fragments or obtaining parts of the Venerable King's power, like the Evil Eye with Fantasy Manifestation.
The second is world powers, like Zeus of Greece, and the Giant Dragons; all Violent Dragon Gods are only Quasi-Tier Five, but once they reach the Dragon Tomb, they become genuine Tier Five by relying on stolen parts of the World Consciousness. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Back then, Xue Dili could only wield Tier Five power with the support of World Consciousness.
The original power of the Violent Dragon God was to completely control the World Consciousness, then after exhausting the World Consciousness, to cultivate hundreds or even thousands of Tier Five warriors, attempting to see if this native army could kill that Apostle on the local planet.
This was only possible with the boundless support of the World Consciousness itself, even to the point of self-detonation, that there was the slightest chance.
Xue Dili's drowsiness disappeared entirely, and he immediately began preparing. He still had an emergency communication device in his hand, but he didn't know if the Interstellar Corps could stand against the Black Mist Council.
It seemed that the Interstellar Corps was slightly weaker than the Black Mist Council. After all, the source of income for the Interstellar Corps was to help other World Consciousnesses solve problems, receive their rewards, and then sign long-term contracts for joint development with them.
On the other hand, the Black Mist Council directly plants trees on each planet, forcing those World Consciousnesses to their knees, then harvesting them like crops over and over again.
It's like the difference between righteous and evil cultivators in the Cultivation World. The Interstellar Corps is a faction of righteous cultivators, gaining cultivation resources by completing commissions for others, accumulating resources slowly, and facing considerable risks while handling inter-world disasters. The Black Mist Council, however, is like the evil cultivators, dragging their commissioners into the Myraid Souls Banner (Divine Wood) and consuming every bit of them.
It seemed that the strength and coverage of the Black Mist Council were even greater than those of the Interstellar Corps.
Xue Dili took a deep breath, his stance naturally aligned more with that of the Interstellar Corps, as they were willing to risk their lives to help others, even though they were also responsible for the recovery of Venerable King Fragments.
But given the various troubles caused by these Venerable King Fragments, it's probably for the best if they are recovered. This kind of power is a devastating blow to most civilizations.
And as Xue Dili pondered, for a moment, that suction from the endless void gradually pulled at his soul.
Xue Dili understood, the Black Mist Council was about to begin.
This time, without the Faceless Mask, he used the Modifier to layer his soul with countless disguises, then took out a copied Faceless Mask, and as the rotating white mask covered his face, he followed the guidance from the void and entered the Black Mist Council.
The endless mist still enveloped everyone, as if located in the void. He looked up, seeing no stars, and unable to determine his location by the trajectory of star charts.
But at least, this was within the Cosmos. Xue Dili had calculated, the basic physical constants had not changed.
"This Parliament has no fixed agenda, conduct your trades and do as you please. We all tread this same path for the True God of the Primordial, for our Venerable King. Uphold your sense of self, and remember who you are." The leader at the main seat spoke.
Xue Dili sneered.
What they say sounds grand, but in essence, it's all about interstellar colonization.
In fact, they are less than colonizers, more like an interstellar concentration camp, harvesting the lives of other civilizations like crops, hanging them on the Divine Tree to absorb their energy to produce fruit for their own ascension.
They may speak of great principles, but the most extreme form of evil is to commit evil wrapped in a glorious facade.
Don't listen to what they say, look at what they do.
And soon, members began free discussions, Xue Dili perked up his ears to listen to some of the news they considered trivial, yet to Xue Dili, these might be quite useful.
"Have you heard? Recently, another civilization broadcast its coordinates to the entire Cosmos."
"I saw that, really interesting, broadcasting directly to the entire Cosmos."
"Who's going? Has it been decided?"
Besides discussing recent "yields," the group also talked about how to open up new worlds, and the recent event of a civilization broadcasting its coordinates to the entire Cosmos.
The so-called yield refers to the fruit they harvest from the lives of other planets, and the so-called expansion is about seeking new civilizations and planets to parasitize, establishing new "orchards."
For them, a cruel mass biological extinction seemed as casual as asking if they had dinner.
As for that civilization broadcasting its coordinates to the entire Cosmos...
Xue Dili focused his intelligence gathering on this, as he certainly didn't want another civilization to fall victim; he was determined to lend a hand.
"Hey, newcomer, you probably don't have your own pasture yet, do you?" someone suddenly asked.
Xue Dili looked at the person addressing him.
Concealed by the Black Mist, Xue Dili couldn't make out their features, but from the tone and posture, they seemed to be a woman.
"Interested in developing this civilization into your own pasture? Breed those bipedal sheep, and then harvest them," she continued.
"What's the price?" Xue Dili asked simply.
"Everyone gets a share, providing everyone with a fruit, that pasture is your territory, that's the rule here."
Xue Dili took a deep breath.
According to the Dragon Race's harvest timeline, it would take about five thousand to ten thousand years to harvest just once. Even from the perspective of an antagonist, agreeing to this would mean working for these people for a hundred thousand years before getting his own yield.
It's truly shady.
No, there's a second trap, which is that the first Apostle to arrive must face a World Consciousness at its peak.
From the Dragon Race's historical records, there have been incidents where Apostles lost against the World Consciousness, so he would also have to contend with a peak World Consciousness?
It really is a trap, worthy of a villain organization.
Xue Dili remained calm, saying blandly, "Do you have basic intelligence on that world? Let me have a look first."
A piece of intelligence was given to him for free, as this was just a pre-negotiation. But when Xue Dili took a look, he was momentarily stunned.
"The local civilization calls itself — the Super Iron Curtain?"
Xue Dili: "..."
