My Werewolf System-Chapter 1199: A Deal With The Vampires
If Gary was being honest with himself, the offer didn’t sound like a bad deal. The vampires were already engaged in a war with Lupus, using the Altered Hunters as their primary force.
Apart from a select few in the Altered Hunters, they weren’t exactly allies to Gary or the Howlers. So, if all he had to do was make a delivery—a task he had done countless times before—it wasn’t out of his realm of expertise. As a werewolf, he could handle it, and it would give him a chance to check up on his friends.
Of course, Gary wasn’t naive enough to believe it would be as simple as it sounded. Nothing ever worked out that way for him.
"The Altered Hunters plan to send in a support group," Lucien continued. "We plan on sending in a few of our knights as well to assist in the delivery."
"Knights?" Park questioned. "Like, those people in full suits of armor?"
Numan immediately shook his head, looking at Park as if he were an idiot. But how was he supposed to know the rankings or the inner workings of the vampires?
"We won’t be sending in just any vampires," Lucien clarified. "The ones you’ve fought so far? Let’s just say they don’t compare to the ones we’re offering. With this team, you would join them as new recruits. It would serve as a double bluff against Lupus and his group while attracting as little attention as possible. As I said, this arrangement benefits us both, and I believe it’s a perfectly fair deal."
Gary tapped his fingers on the table, deep in thought. He honestly didn’t know what the best move was. If he declined, the vampires would likely find another way to get the armor to the Altered Hunters. That much was clear.
Refusing them would only damage whatever fragile relationship they had with the vampires.
Before he could give an answer, he felt a sudden kick to his shin. He turned his head to see Kai staring at him with a knowing look.
"Can we discuss this in private?" Kai asked. "I know you have good ears, but I’d appreciate it if you stepped out while we talk."
There was no protest from the vampires. Lucien simply stood from his seat.
"Since we were the ones who approached you, it’s the least we can do."
Lucien and the other vampire leaders exited the building. Through the window, they could be seen standing outside, waiting patiently. Once they were out of earshot, Kai motioned for the group to move downstairs.
"Damn, that was intense," Park exhaled, rubbing the back of his head. "But there’s no way you’re actually considering this, right, Gary? I mean, from what they said, you wouldn’t be able to take all of us with you—it would attract too much attention. But if you go alone, it’s way too dangerous."
The others in the room shared the same concerns. It had taken all of them, plus outside help, just to take down Harvor. If Lupus was on the same level—or worse, even stronger—then sending Gary alone was suicide.
"I understand where you’re coming from, Park, which is why I wanted to bring something up before you make a decision," Kai interjected. His tone was more serious than usual. "I just got back from Notsburg… and Midwak is missing. If you ask me, I’d say there’s a 99 percent chance that Lupus and his pack took him."
The room fell into a heavy silence.
For one, they all knew how powerful Midwak was. He was a werewolf constantly trying to match Gary’s growth, believing he could one day take the Alpha position from him.
The second reason for their silence… was the secret only the pact members knew.
Kai continued. "I can see you’re all thinking the same thing. We don’t know if Midwak will reveal our weakness to them or not. But the fact that they specifically targeted him means they see us as a threat. Maybe they want information, maybe they’re looking to dismantle us before we get stronger. Either way, this situation has just become a lot more dangerous.
"In two weeks, the full moon will rise again. If Lupus knows our weakness, he won’t wait. He’ll strike then, when we are at our most vulnerable."
The weight of Kai’s words pressed down on everyone.
"Given this new information," Kai said, "the vampires’ offer might actually be in our best interest."
Gary leaned back in his chair, thinking it over. In a few days, he could bite Xin again to make her the Luna. That would grant them certain benefits—but would it be enough?
No, not yet.
This was a rare opportunity, one that the vampires didn’t even realize they had handed him. Twice now, they had failed to see the full picture.
Gary had to take this chance.
And maybe, just maybe, he could squeeze something more out of it.

The group returned to the first floor, calling the vampires back inside. Lucien and his people walked in with a confident air, clearly believing they had done enough to persuade Gary.
Gary took a breath before speaking. "We’ve discussed it, and there are still a few things I’m worried about. First, what happens after Lupus is dealt with? By helping you here, I want to ensure the safety of my people. I need your word that the vampires won’t turn on us after this."
Lucien smiled. "Believe me, after seeing what you’re capable of, the last thing we want is to fight you. We’d much rather have an alliance with an Alpha than go against one. As long as Lupus is taken care of, you have my word—we will not attack you or your people."
Gary studied Lucien’s expression. A vampire king’s word… Was it worth trusting? He didn’t know how much weight those words carried, but it was better than nothing.

"Alright," Gary said. "Then there’s just one more thing. I have a condition. If you can agree to this, then I’ll accept."
Lucien raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And what condition would that be?"
Gary leaned forward, ready to lay out his final demand.
