Chapter 374: The Devil, Baelzor

After we safely and quickly got all of the survivors out of The Pit with the magic quartz, the warriors were preparing to defend against the army that came our way.

Some were positioning themselves next to the cliffs where they would throw large rocks at the bottom, but that was only to prevent the soldiers from climbing the mountain.

We had around 250~ warriors, and there were at least 3,000 soldiers marching towards us, so we couldn’t have our group face them head-on, or they would have gotten overwhelmed.

If it were 3,000 demons that were coming, I would have used my magic to dwindle their numbers—all I had to do was conjure a tornado or something similar. However, they were all brainwashed warriors.

The area inside The Pit was cleared of people, and all the Viking warriors from our small army were outside, positioned at their respective spots to defend the mountain.

Suddenly, while we were still delegating, I felt an ominous presence that was approaching my location at an incredible speed, making me turn around and pull out my bo out of pure instinct.

"Man, you really are annoying..." I muttered at Drakzen, who stood before me at the very top of The Pit.

The warriors around us were quickly alerted and pulled out their weapons. Still, I could see how many of them were trembling, as Drakzen’s presence was pretty intimidating.

To be fair to them, I had already gotten used to facing this asshole, so his overwhelming energy didn’t have an effect on me anymore.

"I could say the same," Drakzen replied, letting out a smirk that pissed me off even more.

I raised my hand to halt the warriors from attacking Drakzen, as I knew that they didn’t have the skills to strike him—and as I got ready to clash with the devil, I felt another powerful entity coming to the top of the mountain.

"Well, well. Is this the sage you were talking about, Drakzen?" said a man with long, white hair and crimson eyes, who arrived using shadows as a way to propel himself in the air.

I could sense an incredible amount of demonic energy coming from the man, and it was a bit similar to the one that flowed out of the brainwashed villagers.

"So, you must be Baelzor..." I muttered, detailing the devil a bit more.

He was wearing a long coat with fur linings, which I knew was nobles’ clothing since we had one single noble family between the survivors we saved, and they wore similar garments.

The nobles in the Northern Empire were different from the ones in the other countries in the sense that they didn’t truly receive any favor from the emperor.

To become a noble in the north, one had to be a powerful and respected warrior and be recognized by the emperor. Still, in the end, it was just a title.

"Hmm, this kid is the one killing my imps?" Baelzor asked Drakzen, raising an eyebrow as he clearly underestimated me.

"Your imps and your other devil friends, too," I mockingly replied, making Baelzor gaze at me with contempt.

Drakzen, on the other hand, seemed like he had a thicker skin since he never really got taunted by my comments.

Right at that moment, Vespera arrived at my side, and Yoru was inside my shadow, ready to come out when the time was needed.

However, after Drakzen snapped his fingers, we heard a loud ’boom’ coming from the foot of the mountain and a figure flying into the sky quite far from us. Once it started flying towards us at maximum speed, we realized it was an Accursed Beast.

It looked like a man with bat wings, and when he got closer to the point where we could detail him clearly, I used my "quick inspect" spell on him.

<Dark Wyvern

Accursed Beast.

Rank "?"

Decaying shadow breath.

Armor-like skin.

Second fastest flyer in the world.>

"A wyvern?" I pondered aloud.

The last time I had seen one of those was when I was 12 years old in End Town, but that one wasn’t even close to being an Accursed Beast.

"Heh, he is a creation that was only possible thanks to you!" Drakzen exclaimed, letting out an annoying chuckle.

"After you took down that wyvern years ago, I absorbed its blood and used it to create a much more powerful version. What do you think!?" the devil continued.

"I think that bragging about your creepy stalking skills is weird..." I replied, wondering for how long Drakzen knew about me.

The devil laughed off my taunt attempt, asking me if I had time to make jokes in such a pinch.

"Pinch? I don’t know what you are talking about..." I replied, getting serious and sharpening my gaze as I released a threatening amount of MP.

"You two are my targets, so this works perfectly for me," I muttered, turning the area around us heavier using gravity magic.

Baelzor looked pretty shaken when he saw my full power and even hunched his back a little from the weight of my spell. Nonetheless, Drakzen was smirking while standing straight as if he didn’t even feel my magic.

I gripped my bo tightly and took a more stable stance, focusing my entire energy on defeating the two devils, prompting the two of them to do the same.

In the blink of an eye, Drakzen and Baelzor disappeared from their positions as they rushed at an incredible speed toward me, with the dark wyvern approaching from above.

With a quick motion, I moved my bo laterally to the side and protected myself against Drakzen’s punch, then ducked to avoid Baelzor’s kick.

Vespera instantly countered and attacked Drakzen with her spider legs, making him take a few steps back while he deflected them and left an opening on Baelzor.

I summoned all of the strength I could muster and waved my bo to the side, hitting Baelzor in the ribs and sending him flying down into The Pit, where he crashed against a rock pillar that crumbled on top of him.

When I caught up to him, I was gently floating in the air, looking down at the devil with disgust as he forcefully moved the debris that blocked him.
