My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 75: Better
Chapter 75: Better
As Elian and Bianca stepped through the Flame Swallow Dungeon, he noticed she was skipping. Ever since they met Fluffy, Bastion and Silent, Bianca has been in a really good mood.
Elian’s mind began to wander, wondering what their life might have been like if they didn’t go to the Snow Wolf dungeon. It was only because they ran into Sera and the Beacon party that they did. He saved them on a whim, yet Bianca’s joy now was a direct result.
Seeing her happy makes me glad we decided to go there. You really never know what each day will bring.
Who would’ve thought the ice-cold angel he met in the Ant Dungeon would smile like this? Knowing he helped cause it... that felt rewarding.
"It feels so nice to have people worry about you," Bianca murmured.
Elian nodded, "Agreed. Get used to it, the days you can just go on your own have ended. Now Fluffy, Mother-in-law, Father-in-law and I will always fuss about your wellbeing. Be sure to behave yourself now, oh Witch of the Frozen Night."
"Is that so? Right, I should consider this my new norm now, huh?"
"Yep. You won’t get rid of us that easily."
Elian then felt the hand grasping his tighten. He also noticed Bianca rest her head on his armor.
"Elian."
"Bianca?"
"I want to thank you," Bianca said in a quiet voice.
Letting her speak her mind, Elian remained silent.
"Ever since I met you. My life has been so joyful and full of color. I experienced so many things I never had before. Things wanted for a long, long time." She stepped in front of him and looked up.
"I truly thank God you were born, Elian. I mean it."
Bianca’s face came closer, her eyes closed. Elian felt her kiss touch his cheek. Her lips were soft, cold, and trembling. When she pulled away her face was flushed. She grew restless and began to stammer.
"I-I am not some loose woman who does this for everyone, okay?"
Cute.
"This is a reward. A-And a promise. I felt like I have done nothing but receive from you. So, prepare yourself. From this point on, I plan to do all I can to gain your favor. By this time next year, I will have you eating out of my hand," Bianca vowed smugly.
"Did you just say out loud that you plan to seduce me?"
"W-What? No! It’s not like that! I just...I..."
Enjoying Bianca’s panic, Elian pulled her close and returned a kiss to her cheek. His eyes however eyed her lips.
"Do your best. I look forward to what you will do," he teased.
Two hands slammed into Elian’s face, trying to force him to look away.
"Elian you idiot! Don’t look!"
Chuckling, Elian gave her a moment and scanned the Flame Swallow Dungeon. What he saw was a different world. It was for lack of a better word a serene autumn paradise. The ground was red from what looked like thousands of leaves scattered along the floor.
Gorgeous trees covered in shades of red, orange and yellow stretched as far as the eye could see. The soft sunlight gave the ethereal forest a near mystical allure. It was a place that made one doubt that it was even real.
While the Snow Wolf Dungeon had its own serene and quiet beauty. This place felt warm, nostalgic and comfortable. Elian felt his body relaxing unconsciously. But then...
[Talent: Adamant – activated. Elian Reed is now immune to fear and psychological effects so long as the Talent remains active.]
What? I was under a status effect?
"How deplorable. While the Wolf Dungeon had a mana restriction curse. This place has a Curse of Compromise?"
Hearing Bianca’s words, Elian grew confused.
"Curse of compromise?"
"It’s a mind-numbing curse. It reduces your ability to make sound decisions and greatly reduces aggression."
"Isn’t that a good thing?"
Bianca glared at the forests. "It is when you are trying to keep the peace. But if you are being attacked, nothing can be more deadly."
"I guess everyone has their own way of fighting. Let’s investigate, how do you want to do this, Bianca?"
She pointed up and smiled, "I’ll go up top and scout. You just head forward, when I find the Knight, I will guide you to it."
"You just want to play with your sniper rifle don’t you."
"Can’t deny that. But it is faster if I investigate from the skies," Bianca shrugged.
"Hmm. How will we communicate? Can you hear me from above there?"
She blushed as she looked away, "That won’t be a problem."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
She made a deep sigh, then placed her dainty hand on Elian’s chest.
"Elian, our soulgems are inches away from each other and melded at a molecular level. Your words and your surface level thoughts. I-I hear them..."
"What? You do? Then you have been spying on me this entire time?"
Bianca took her ponytail and played with it, "Spying? No, I didn’t...I mean I did but it’s not like that! I didn’t mean to keep it a secret, okay? I-I just missed the time to tell you."
Is this why she wanted to separate from me before?
The witch then nodded her head.
"You heard that?"
Nod
Elian felt a migraine coming on. Due to Adamant being active, he couldn’t even get angry. So, he just decided to part the matter and move on.
"For now, that is convenient. We will coordinate better as we can talk without minding distance. But we will need to talk about this in the future."
"Huh?"
Seeing her confusion, Elian chose to be direct. "Bianca, I mean this gently, but it’s creepy. As much as I adore you learning you have been reading my thoughts without my consent make me feel weird. But we do not have time for that now. The dungeon comes first."
Bianca’s face grew crestfallen. If she had wolf ears they would be dropping on the floor right now. Finding her adorable, Elian walked closer and pressed his forehead on hers.
"I am not angry Bianca. I know you did not have a normal life. Neither did I. We will learn together and work through all the issues. What matters is I wish to be with you. Do you feel the same?"
"Yes," she said shyly.
"Good. I’ll be going now."
"Ah, Elian!"
Bianca’s call made him turn back.
"Please do not forget that you have a face now. You do not have armor covering it. Create a new helm that protects your cheeks, lips and nose, okay? I don’t want to see you hurt."
Elian’s eyes grew wide. It was a fact that he forgot. Bayonet, his horn protruded from above his forehead; he didn’t actually have any armor protecting his face. Her concern over his wellbeing felt nice.
With a single thought, he formed an onyx-plated Corinthian helmet.
"Better?"
"Yes. You look dashing," she praised in a fluster.
Bianca then vanished and began her scout.
Typical, running away now, are we?
Knowing Bianca could hear him sparked all sorts of mischievous plans. Most of which involved putting her in embarrassing situations just to see her squirm.
Flashes of light came overhead. Despite it being sunny, beams of burning plasma raced forward. The fact that the beams had shadows showed how dense they were.
Elian noticed that all of them were being fired towards the east. Lowering his shoulders, he dropped Cinderglass onto his thrusters and raced towards the same heading.
KRZZZZZ—THOOM!
The sound the Fralhame Lance made was unique. However, the beam hit way earlier than you would hear the sound. Thus, to the ones being sniped, it was the same as completely silent.
Elian continued to barrel through the forest knocking trees that unluckily were in the way. When he entered a clearing, he saw a gigantic bird cage. It looked like a sanctuary for endangered species. There were hundreds of birds packed together.
"Bianca, are those..."
"Yes. They are all Flame swallows. They looked drugged—unable to even fight back."
Elian was about to ask who was keeping them captive, but then saw a large number of humans drinking, and laughing at the base of the cage. There were watch towers that seemed to circle around the cage.
Strangely, none of them were manned. When he finally saw a person on the farthest watch tower, a lance of light sheared through his skull. The human’s corpse slumped away from sight in the next moment.
"I have neutralized all the sentries. You should have no issues taking out the rest. Although the moment they see you, the Church will too. What do you wish to do? Should I just finish them all off?"
At her question, Elian remembered the words of Bastion.
"I agree with her, let them know we are coming. We will kill them all anyway."
"Let them know, huh?"
He couldn’t help but smile.
"I’ll go. Let’s see how fast they react."
