My Wife Might Be a Saintess-Chapter 49 - 48: Senior Sister, My Box Was Stolen
On his way, Jiang Zuo held a pitch-black coin. Its surface was covered in countless fine patterns that formed the character for "misfortune."
The reverse side depicted a cage, but there was nothing inside it.
"The Misfortune Coin. I can’t believe I got it so easily." Jiang Zuo put the coin away.
The Misfortune Coin, as its name implied, would bring misfortune to people.
However, this Misfortune Coin wasn’t high-level yet. It was incapable of causing any deadly bad luck, but it could definitely make someone buy instant noodles only to find a seasoning packet missing.
Right now, Jiang Zuo was heading toward the Holy Land’s local base of operations.
To put it bluntly, it was where the Holy Land Saintess lived.
Soon, Jiang Zuo arrived at a residential area full of villas. The Saintess naturally lived in a villa. The Holy Land wasn’t short on cash, and a villa was large enough to be fully outfitted with an Array.
Jiang Zuo didn’t even need to look at the house numbers to know which villa belonged to the Holy Land.
He walked up to the villa with the most powerful Array and glanced at the house number. As expected, it belonged to the Holy Land Saintess.
With a single glance, Jiang Zuo could tell that there was an Illusion Array, a Killing Array, a Trapping Array, and the most basic of Defense Arrays.
’Such a crude Array.’ Jiang Zuo scoffed. In his eyes, these things were practically useless.
Without a second thought, Jiang Zuo walked right in.
Jiang Zuo moved through the layers of Arrays as if strolling on level ground, treating them as if they didn’t exist.
In the time it took to cross the yard, Jiang Zuo was already inside the villa.
The villa’s living room was spacious, but there was no one around, nor were there any Arrays.
Jiang Zuo stood beside the sofa, leaning against a cabinet, and scanned the area for anything suspicious.
Unfortunately, everything seemed perfectly normal. There was nothing special.
’It must be in one of the rooms, then?’ With that, Jiang Zuo tossed the coin.
A moment later, with a CLINK, the coin landed straight on the cabinet next to him.
Jiang Zuo looked baffled. He carefully examined the cabinet. It wasn’t very tall, only about a meter high, with a cloth spread over the top and a lamp placed upon it. Its color scheme really did make it look like a matching piece of decor.
Jiang Zuo walked around it and confirmed that the cabinet was indeed about a cubic meter in volume.
A cabinet of this size was a bit out of place here.
’So this is the Balanced Glass Cabinet? But... where’s the "glass"?’
Jiang Zuo knocked on it a few times and discovered it really was made of wood. He then removed the lamp and pulled away the cloth.
Only then did Jiang Zuo notice a seam on its surface. The outer coloring was just a disguise.
With a wave of his hand, Jiang Zuo stripped away the disguise. The Balanced Glass Cabinet was now fully revealed before him. Of course, it still wasn’t a "glass" cabinet, but a rainbow-colored one.
With a sigh, Jiang Zuo stopped fussing over whether it was actually glass. He saw a small plaque on it, and after picking it up for a look, he broke into a smile.
Property of Jiu Xi. Do Not Touch.
The corners of Jiang Zuo’s mouth turned up. He felt an urge to laugh. He had assumed it belonged to the Holy Land, or perhaps the current Saintess.
But he never would have imagined that this thing actually belonged to Jiu Xi.
Without the slightest hesitation, Jiang Zuo stowed the Balanced Glass Cabinet away. Then, the Misfortune Coin appeared in his hand once more.
’Now that I know Jiu Xi lives here, it’d feel like a waste not to do something for her.’
Jiang Zuo started heading upstairs. He wanted to find Jiu Xi’s room.
Jiang Zuo wandered around with the coin for a long time, but he still couldn’t find any trace of Jiu Xi.
He had no information about the current Jiu Xi. The knowledge from his past life was completely useless—in fact, in this life, it was simply wrong. It would be a miracle if he could find her with it.
Jiang Zuo frowned. ’Do I have to rely on pure luck?’
After a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Zuo went to the first-floor bathroom and stuck the Misfortune Coin in place.
After making a few arrangements, Jiang Zuo turned and walked out of the villa.
His setup was simple: the Misfortune Coin would affect the first person who entered the bathroom.
Even if Jiu Xi wasn’t the victim, Saintess Jingyue would be. In any case, it wasn’t a loss. As long as someone close to Jiu Xi suffered, it would eventually affect her.
Jiang Zuo left the villa. He had originally considered altering the Array to make them suffer a bit, but he was afraid they would become too wary and decide to move out.
If no one used the bathroom then, that would spoil his fun.
Back home, Jiang Zuo took out the Balanced Glass Cabinet. The rainbow-colored box was sealed on all six sides.
After feeling around for a moment, Jiang Zuo found a small Rune. This Rune was encrypted, but encrypted Runes were useless against him.
With a mere wave of his hand, Jiang Zuo replaced the initial password with the most complex encryption the cabinet could handle.
An ordinary person would find it nearly impossible to open.
As Jiang Zuo unlocked the cabinet, the rainbow colors began to fade. Eventually, five of the six colored faces vanished, leaving only the bottom panel.
Inside, Jiang Zuo saw a multitude of things. Countless Arrays and Restrictions were fused together, much like a chemical reaction. These Arrays and Restrictions had somehow transformed the mundane into the magical, creating what amounted to a miniature ecosystem.
A balanced ecosystem at that, one compatible with innumerable life forms.
’Whoever made this must have gotten a perfect score in biology. I can’t say for sure about physics, but they definitely aced chemistry too.’ Jiang Zuo truly admired the creator of the Balanced Glass Cabinet.
’Studying really is important. But what’s crucial is knowing how to apply what you’ve learned.’
Jiang Zuo had originally thought about trying to replicate it, but now he saw it was far more difficult than he’d imagined. That would have to wait for another day.
After activating the Balanced Cabinet, Jiang Zuo planted the Ice Crystal Wood Lotus inside, soil and all. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Once he was done, he could feel a faint chill emanating from it. He then closed the Balanced Cabinet and stowed the box away again.
With the Ice Crystal Wood Lotus settled, Jiang Zuo placed the Moon Lotus on his bedroom windowsill. The spot received frequent moonlight, which would make collecting Moonlight much faster.
Afterward, Jiang Zuo went out to the balcony. All that remained there now was the Profound Iron Wood and the Holy Beast Descendant Egg.
Jiang Zuo picked up the egg and found it was even warmer than before. It was probably about to hatch.
After a moment of thought, Jiang Zuo placed the Sun Flame Stone next to it. It should hatch within the next two days.
He had planned to ask if anyone in the group chat wanted it, but he’d gotten sidetracked by Chi Xue Child and completely forgot.
’Now that I think about it, I’d better wait until it hatches.’

「The Outskirts of the Immortal Spirit Cave Mansion」
Beside the giant vine, Su Qi suddenly shot to her feet and cried out, "Senior Sister, this is bad!"
Jingyue, who was still studying the vine, replied nonchalantly, "What is it now? Did your husband call?"
"No," Su Qi said anxiously. "I’ve lost my connection to the Balanced Glass Cabinet! It’s been stolen!"
Jingyue: "..."
She looked at Su Qi in surprise. "Your Cultivation is that high? You could even sense the imprint being erased?"
Su Qi retorted, "Master was the one who placed the imprint for me. The connection was always there, but it just suddenly vanished."
Jingyue "oh"-ed, then said, "Just imagine your husband took it. You’ll probably feel much better."
Su Qi sat on the ground, dejected. "That was a wedding gift from Master. It was meant for emergencies. Jiang Zuo is a normal person; if something happened to him, I could put him inside it and then go ask Master for help."
"I knew it. You don’t care about the box itself. You’re a lost cause. Still, whoever did this is pretty bold, daring to steal from us."
