Chapter 734 -735: Courage (27)_1

As soon as Jing Haohao had said that, Cong Rong’s voice came over the phone in a particularly anxious tone, interrupting her, “Where are you guys right now?”

“Jiangshan City People’s Hospital.”

“Wait for me there, I’m coming right away.” After Cong Rong said this, he promptly hung up the call.

Jing Haohao, clutching her phone, waited outside the operating room for about half an hour before she saw Cong Rong hurriedly rushing over with two doctors.

Jing Haohao quickly stood up. Cong Rong made a “hush” gesture directly at Jing Haohao and said to one of the older doctors, “Director Zhang, we’re relying on you.”

“Mr. Cong, rest assured.” Director Zhang responded, then, accompanied by the other doctor, immediately swiped his card to enter the operating room.

Jing Haohao and Cong Rong barely spoke. Jing Haohao kept her gaze lowered, her hands tightly clenched into fists.

Cong Rong stood nearby. He seemed calm, but the constant shaking of his legs betrayed his deep worry.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Cong Rong looked at his wristwatch. It was already 2 AM. He saw Jing Haohao sitting across from him, her complexion sickly pale, and proposed, “The doctors I found are the best in the whole city. You have nothing to worry about. You seem extremely fatigued. Why don’t I take you home to rest?”

Jing Haohao shook her head.

Cong Rong stopped speaking, silently waiting with Jing Haohao for the operation to finish.

The entire corridor was serene. The lights outside the windows gradually dimmed, the atmosphere intense and serious.

It wasn’t until 4 AM that the door of the operating room was pushed open. Jing Haohao and Cong Rong both stood up and asked in unison, “How is he doing?”

Director Zhang, who appeared slightly worn out, removed his mask and said to Jing Haohao and Cong Rong, “The surgery was very successful. He’ll be fine after some quiet rest.”

Upon hearing this, Jing Haohao felt her legs go weak and nearly collapsed to the ground.

Liang Chen was then transferred to the ICU.

Cong Rong’s anxiety eased, he turned to Jing Haohao again, “Now that Chen is stable, you’ve been awake all night, and your clothes are tattered. Hurry home and change into something fresh. Liang Chen has been given anesthesia and won’t be awake for a good while. I’ll stay here, you go home. Wash your face, eat something, then come back. Don’t let yourself pass out before he wakes up.”

Jing Haohao considered this for a moment, then said, “I’ll go home to change my clothes and buy some breakfast to bring over.”

Cong Rong said, “There’s no rush. Chen won’t wake up for at least another four or five hours. Take a moment to rest.”

Jing Haohao didn’t speak, she just nodded and then left the hospital.

At four thirty in the morning, Jiangshan City was especially quiet and cold.

Jing Haohao stood by the roadside, hailed a taxi and went straight home.

The gate to the residential community was closed. The light of the guardhouse was on, and the middle-aged guard was lying down on the table, as if he were sleeping.

Jing Haohao knocked on the window. The man lifted his head, saw Jing Haohao, came out, and opened the gate, “Miss Jing, why did you come back so late?”

As soon as he finished speaking, he noticed Jing Haohao’s disheveled look and furrowed his eyebrows, “Miss Jing, what happened to you? Were you in some trouble?”
