Chapter 501: The Infernal Flame Crawler

Seraphina had jumped in surprise—she’d only tossed out a fireball on instinct, not expecting it to actually ignite Karaxes like that.

Just as she was about to ask what the hell had just happened—

Ethan suddenly shouted, "Everyone! Break their armor with physical attacks first!"

"Then hit the exposed soul cores with Fire Magic—burn them out!"

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM—

The moment Ethan’s troops got the message, they unleashed their full strength and charged straight at the armored demon soldiers.

From there, the battle turned into a breeze. The heavy-hitters smashed through the demons’ armor, and the mages followed up with fire spells to incinerate the soul parasites hiding inside.

It didn’t take long before the entire enemy force was wiped out.

Ding!

"Congratulations, player Valkarion! You’ve successfully defended the Castle in this siege event. Rewards: 2 million Dungeon Reputation, 50 billion gold, 2 million units of each core resource, and 800 Tier-13 Legendary Units (random or specified)!"

"Congratulations, player Valkarion! You’ve leveled up—now Level 80!"

Ding!

"Congratulations, player Valkarion! Your Hero Unit, Green Dragon Seraphina, has reached Level 82! Divine Ascension complete—evolved into a Greater Deity and received the Blessing of Greater Divine Power!"

"Congratulations, player Valkarion! Your Hero Unit, Green Dragon Cicero, has reached Level 82! Divine Ascension complete—evolved into a Greater Deity and received the Blessing of Greater Divine Power!"

...

Ethan was practically buzzing with excitement.

Finally—a win.

And with rewards this massive, he could keep the war machine rolling, funding future battles with the spoils of this one.

Even better, now that they’d figured out the enemy’s weakness, his troops had taken minimal losses. This was a clean, decisive victory.

...

"Damn it!"

"Damn it all!"

Meanwhile, deep within the shadowy throne hall, the Dark Sovereign trembled with rage. She hadn’t expected even Karaxes—her strongest subordinate—to be destroyed.

"This is outrageous! Who the hell are these people? How are they this powerful? Someone—anyone—go kill them for me!"

But none of the witches in the room dared to speak.

The Dark Sovereign shot to her feet—only to be yanked back by several thick tubes connected to her back, anchoring her in place.

She had been born from the Dungeon itself, and needed a constant flow of its energy to survive and grow.

She’d been seriously wounded before, and after Ethan destroyed one of her avatars, her body had weakened even further. Right now, she could only stay here and absorb power to recover...

In her current state, she couldn’t leave the chamber at all.

If she did, her body might collapse entirely.

Just then, the ground cracked open—and a bizarre creature burst up from below.

WHAM!

It looked like some kind of monstrous anteater, but its entire body was wreathed in flames. It had three heads, each one radiating a different elemental aura.

"My Sovereign," the creature growled, "was my brother Ignarok... killed?"

The moment she saw him, a flicker of relief crossed the Dark Sovereign’s face.

"Vulkrith... you’re finally awake. Yes. Your brother was slain by those invaders."

She raised a crystal orb, revealing Ethan’s image—and his current location.

The moment Vulkrith saw Ethan’s face, his eyes blazed with fury.

"Unforgivable! Ignarok was my blood brother—same mother, same father. I swear I’ll avenge him!"

As he spoke, Vulkrith—the Infernal Flame Crawler—began to shimmer and fade.

He didn’t need a portal or a vortex. His elemental mastery allowed him to tear through space itself.

In the blink of an eye, he vanished without a trace.

After Ethan’s army scored a massive victory, they didn’t slow down—they pushed deeper into the Dungeon.

The deeper they went, the more stray monsters they ran into. Taking them out earned small rewards—not much, but hey, loot’s loot.

As the army carved its way forward, they suddenly came upon a vast, hellish landscape of molten lava.

Ethan frowned. According to the scouts, this area was supposed to be a grand hall. Now it looked like the inside of a volcano.

He took a steadying breath and stepped forward to investigate. But just as he neared the lava’s edge, something leapt out—a grotesque creature with eight limbs flailing in all directions.

It wasn’t particularly strong or high-level, but the sudden appearance was enough to make anyone jump.

Ethan casually flicked his wrist—and the thing disintegrated into nothing.

Seraphina rushed up behind him. "Master, are you okay?"

"I’m fine," Ethan said, shaking his head, eyes locked on the lava.

That thing was weak, sure—but the energy radiating from the lava itself was... off. Twisted. Wrong.

RUMBLE...

RUMBLE...

Just as he was about to step closer for a better look, the lava began to churn violently.

Then, with a massive splash of molten rock, something erupted from the depths—

The Infernal Flame Crawler, Vulkrith.

"So you’re the ones who killed my brother," Vulkrith snarled, his voice like a furnace roaring to life. "Today, you’ll burn with him."

Ethan’s pupils dilated. He instinctively took several steps back.

The power rolling off this thing was insane—way beyond Karaxes. And that guy had already been a nightmare.

This one? This one was something else entirely.

Ethan immediately pulled up the creature’s stats.

"Holy shit..."

Ethan’s jaw dropped.

This was, hands down, the strongest Dungeon King he’d ever faced.

And unlike the others who served the Dark Sovereign, Vulkrith wasn’t just a brute or a spellcaster—he was both. A deadly hybrid of raw physical power and devastating magic.

Before Ethan could even process a plan, Vulkrith lunged forward, his body glowing with the same molten intensity as the lava he’d emerged from.

"DIE!"

"Inferno Flames!"

Every step Vulkrith took radiated blistering heat, warping the air around him like a mirage from hell.

Ethan grabbed Seraphina and yanked her back, retreating far enough to escape the searing heat radius.

There was no way they could take this thing head-on. Not with that kind of health pool and damage output. They’d have to fight smart—find a weakness, exploit it, and pray it worked.

But what Ethan hadn’t expected—was how fast Vulkrith was.

For something that size, he moved like a damn blur.

There was no time to dodge.
