Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength-Chapter 537 - 534 Smooth Work
Chapter 537: Chapter 534 Smooth Work
Standing in the shadows of the street,
Ronald personally witnessed the influence brought about by Bapulor’s identity.
Not to mention taking action and having a bout with this cult magician, the fellows who came as representatives to talk in the room didn’t even have the slightest thought of resistance.
After the initial shock and tension, he just kept nodding and agreeing with Bapulor, not uttering a single "no."
At that moment, Ronald felt an incongruous sense of discord in his heart.
While walking on the road, he had learned about the situation of this group of people.
They dared to cause trouble in Springs and even secretly planned to trouble Queen Dantrian. But now that Bapulor had shown up, they had no courage left.
That... actually seemed quite similar to keyboard warriors.
They had a lot to say, and plans popped up as quickly as a slap on the bottom. But as soon as someone confronted them in real life, each one became more cowardly than the last.
A quarter of an hour passed.
Bapulor’s negotiation came to an end.
He even cursed each of the four people in the house to ensure they would truly leave Springs.
When brought before Ronald, this cult magician was naturally quite smug:
"How about that? That’s one down."
"I told you, I’m quite confident in my negotiating skills."
"..."
Ronald managed a forced, insincere smile:
"Indeed, I’ve never seen such a way of negotiating, truly formidable."
Bapulor nodded in satisfaction:
"Let’s go, on to the next one!"
"..."
The route for the night was to circle the city clockwise.
After dealing with the first fence-sitter, Ronald and Bapulor’s actions went smoothly; the following two houses were handled without direct physical confrontation and were ’talked’ into proper compliance.
Only at the third house did the others seem to have a particularly unique source of information.
They were more afraid of Ronald’s presence than Bapulor’s identity as a head cult magician. Bapulor was quite concerned about this and asked a lot before he unexpectedly learned about Ronald’s feat of displaying his lightning control abilities.
So, on the way to the fourth caster’s stronghold, Bapulor was very interested and deliberately brought up the subject:
"Ronald, can you show me?"
"That spell of yours that can summon lightning?"
"..."
Ronald’s mouth twitched slightly.
Bapulor, this guy, really didn’t treat him like an outsider, casually asking about such a secret piece of information.
Since obtaining the "Rain Mist Divine Hammer," Ronald had always been careful to protect the information about this original spellbook’s magic because the element of ’rainy weather’ was rather troublesome.
Ronald had thought about acquiring related spells for himself.
But spells that changed the weather... They were rare, powerful, and very distinctive, making them extremely difficult to acquire proactively.
And such deliberate actions, in the eyes of those with keen interest, were equivalent to exposing the casting limitations of the "Rain Mist Divine Hammer," a highly dangerous behavior in itself.
So Ronald put aside the related plan for the time being.
After all, unseen landmines were more of a threat than visible enemies.
Facing Bapulor’s inquiry, he naturally refused directly:
"It’s my trump card; it’s not something to use casually." freēwēbηovel.c૦m
The cult magician cautiously continued:
"Just once, to take a look, that’s not okay?"
Ronald raised his voice:
"No!"
Bapulor’s voice lowered:
"Alright..."
The conversation ended there, and it was rare for Bapulor to actually understand Ronald’s feelings.
Silence prevailed for over half an hour until they reached the position of the fourth caster, where the cult magician spoke again:
"This one is from the Northern Ice Glacier Research Association."
"Right now, those inside are Death Soldiers cultivated by this organization. If we don’t take them out, we probably won’t be able to deal with them."
Ronald slightly bowed his head, as the hellish black mist was already entwined around his hands:
"So—I’m the one to make a move?"
Bapulor stepped back with a smile:
"Then I shall watch with anticipation."
With these words, the tone for the battle was set. Ronald’s gaze quickly swept over the house before him, and his first reaction was to adjust the scouting with the "Fury" power. There were a total of three Death Soldiers from the Ice Glacier Research Association, all of them inside at that moment.
And they were different from normal humans.
Although these three were lucid, their emotional fluctuations were noticeably low, even approaching an abnormal level of development.
"Negotiating with such people... indeed seems hopeless."
Musing quietly, Ronald swung his hand towards the house. The mist—a mixture of ’violence’ and ’Rage’—instantly turned into a straight line and slipped through the gaps of the windows.
Crack—
The caster closest to the window was immediately hit by the mist.
Inevitably robbed of all ability to move.
Unfortunately, the other two were farther away, so the situation was not quite the same.
Upon noticing their comrade’s sudden immobility, the trained Death Soldiers naturally wouldn’t remain indifferent. Spellcasting was activated almost reflexively, a thin yet solid layer of ice forming over both their bodies.
Then, as the black mist surged forward, it too encountered resistance from the layer of solid ice.
In the pitch-dark room, the two rigorously trained casters, assured that they wouldn’t lose their ability to act immediately, exchanged looks the next second.
"An ambush!"
"I’ll take the lead, you cover the rear."
Immediately, a formation was established, one in front and one in back. The two well-drilled individuals burst through the front window of the house, even beginning to prepare new spells to counter the enemy.
Unfortunately...
The moment they left the house, the spell Ronald had been reciting came to an end:
"The greatest advance in productive power, as well as the increased dexterity, skill, and judgement displayed in the work process, seem to be the results of the division of labor..."
The Invisible Hand suddenly descended.
Even though the spell’s most reliable window was but a moment, it was enough to tear open a gap in the solid ice encasing both men.
Next, the entwined mists made contact with their bodies.
With only a couple of snaps, these two Death Soldiers followed the footsteps of their comrade.
As Bapulor witnessed Ronald easily dispose of the enemies with a single face-to-face encounter, he walked up the stairs, genuinely impressed:
"Impressive, Ronald, you’re truly amazing!"
"To deal with these three Death Soldiers safely, I reckon it would take me a good ten seconds. And you, you’ve already taken care of them straight away in a single encounter, aren’t you a bit too impressive?"
As Bapulor finished speaking, he also approached the two Death Soldiers.
He simply squatted down, his magic power-coated palm plunging down.
Splat—
A sound uncharacteristic of the human body followed.
The palm of the cult magician easily penetrated both their bodies and then crushed their hearts.
It was then that Bapulor turned back and gave Ronald a beaming smile:
"I’ll go take care of the one inside the house."
"It will just be a moment."
