Mythical Three Kingdoms-Chapter 1691 - 1620: Sheni Pei’s Return (Part 2)
"So it is indeed Ye City. Those two must be the legendary Hua Tuo and Zhang Jii. It makes sense; a normal person shouldn’t possess such medical skills," Sheni Pei muttered silently, showing no trace of attack power.
Watching teams of escorts pass by, Sheni Pei silently assessed the gap in strength between the two sides, ultimately letting out a sigh; the disparity was too significant.
"Take me to the Political Office; I wish to see Chen Zichuan," Sheni Pei said suddenly, showing no intention to flee while following Jiangh Wan for a while.
"The Lord and Marquis Chen have headed north," Jiangh Wan replied gently before smiling.
"Who is in charge of Ye City? Is it Lub Zijing or Li Wenru?" Sheni Pei inquired, revealing a hint of killing intent when mentioning Li Youu.
"Administrator Lub is waiting for you at the Political Office," Jiangh Wan nodded slowly, unaffected by the killing intent, as calm as before.
Hua Tuo’s experimental area was close to the Political Office; otherwise, Jiangh Wan wouldn’t have come on foot. Passing through a quiet alley, Jiangh Wan led Sheni Pei to the Political Office.
Seeing it unchanged, even the name, with no renovations or decorations, Sheni Pei inexplicably thought of scenes when Tian Feng, Ju Shou, and others were still around, where they too had discussions here, a group tearing each other apart.
Entering, Lub Su was hunched over his work, while Li Youu silently reviewed documents, evidently distracted, as Wenn Hui, Yang Dao, Zhao Yan, and others were conscripted for high-intensity work, having improved significantly.
"Sheni Zhengnan, have a seat. You all can take a break now," Lub Su said after reviewing a document and ordered a chair for Sheni Pei, almost overwhelming the table and couch.
Wenn Hui, Yang Dao, Zhao Yan, Jiangh Wan, and others responded with a bow, then left, leaving only Lub Su and two others inside.
Lub Su had no concern about Sheni Pei sneaking a peek; regardless of whether Sheni Pei agreed, nothing could be told after seeing these things; refusing would be the same.
"You must be Lub Zijing, and you are Li Wenru? Or just Li Ru?" Sheni Pei inquired after the door closed, an unconcerned soul merely curious why he lost.
"Oh, this is what you want to ask? I thought you were interested in the Yuan Family’s status," Li Youu replied indifferently; having solidified his identity with Lady Tang.
"The Yuan Family of Hebei can’t be wiped out. After my Lord accomplished that task, apart from unexpected accidents, the Yuan Family remains the Yuan Family," Sheni Pei said coldly, having quickly recovered to optimal condition after awakening.
"Indeed," Li Youu nodded. "So we let the Yuan Family return to Yuzhou."
Sheni Pei frowned, surprised by Li Youu’s response; the outcome seemed implausible. Lub Su noticed his expression and handed him a scroll.
Sheni Pei opened the scroll and read through it leisurely; after a while, he asked, "Is this my Lord’s conclusion? But if this is the case, Xuu Ziyuan and Xun Youruo wish to follow. You would stop them? They are not like me."
"Don’t you understand what this means?" Li Youu asked, observing Sheni Pei.
"Give me a reason to settle in the North," Sheni Pei said with a raised brow. "Only then can I understand Xuu Ziyuan and Xun Youruo’s thoughts. While they can contribute to the Yuan Family, they wouldn’t die for it without necessity."
"This is the reason," Li Youu motioned, handing Sheni Pei a small scroll. Sheni Pei opened it to find himself frowning.
As the puzzlement deepened, Li Youu knew Sheni Pei comprehended everything within. Although lacking distinct markings, mountain ranges and rivers lay clear in Sheni Pei’s mind, allowing him to easily understand.
Sheni Pei’s breathing grew heavy, suddenly meeting Li Youu’s gaze. The clarity in his eyes spoke volumes. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"It seems you understand," Li Youu smiled wryly.
"I want a more accurate map," Sheni Pei stated, dropping the scroll; remembering it fully was trivial for him.
"You can have it, but you need to go here," Li Youu stretched his arm towards Central Asia, saying, "As a barrier for the nation."
"The land and population belong to us; we decide the laws, and settle both economy and military," Sheni Pei’s wit had returned completely.
"Impossible, this demand is unacceptable," Lub Su interrupted the discussion between Li Youu and Sheni Pei; such terms were inadmissible.
Ignoring Lub Su, Sheni Pei faced Li Youu, who remained silent for a moment before addressing Lub Su, saying, "Fine, but you must solve those issues yourselves. If it exceeds my limits, I won’t hesitate to wage war again. When fighting under the Han Empire’s banner, full support is mandatory."
Sheni Pei stared at Li Youu calmly, not questioning his schemes there; the map divulged enough information.
"Very well, tell me about the situation there," Sheni Pei inquired, facing Li Youu, while Lub Su already restrained his anger.
For Sheni Pei, full support wasn’t particularly challenging; regarding its extent, it depends on the Central Government’s might. In the Zhou Dynasty, a potent center could nullify a Feudal Lord King; a weakened center ignited ambitions for supremacy!
"I can only tell you that the forces there are complex, belonging to two empires lately, but now subject to three. Our force there is weak, but stable due to combat power, though next year the battlefield size must be calculated by tens of thousands," Li Youu informed Sheni Pei.
"You must bear the name of the Han Empire there. If other flags are raised, even if we refrain from action, you will be obliterated," Li Youu smiled at Sheni Pei. "Additionally, another empire might join the battle there, as current estimates suggest."
Though grim-faced, Sheni Pei showed little fear. In the Central Plains, they had entirely failed, but stepping out offers a glimmer of hope.
"One last question, why as a defeated foe do we still receive power?" Sheni Pei asked Li Youu, prepared with an answer.
"Because you’re outstanding, and we share language and race, wasting scarce top-tier talent would be unnecessary. This advice, from Zichuan, garnered mutual agreement," Li Youu explained to Sheni Pei. "All capable losers won’t be killed outright unless treasonous, but utilized as national barriers or sent where their potential can flourish."
"Quite confident," Sheni Pei mocked.
"But don’t you also approve of the system?" Li Youu asked Sheni Pei.
"Thanks to the system, I avoid a meaningless death. My Lord’s Yuan Family harbors potential for resurgence; why not give it a try?" Sheni Pei said calmly to Li Youu.
"Here’s where Yuan Xiansi might go; it’s up to you to follow or decide otherwise," Li Youu offered a detailed map of the North to Sheni Pei.
Sheni Pei raised a brow, "Where’s the major battlefield? I’ll make a trip there."
"You won’t make it; visiting the battlefield means failing to catch Yuan Xiansi," Li Youu shook his head, aware of Sheni Pei’s intentions but indifferent to them. His role in documenting Han Army’s peak dispels the notion of opposing Han Army.
"Oh, send someone to escort me north," Sheni Pei requested Li Youu, pushing away the chair, feeling less bitter about those present, perhaps due to a near-death experience.
[My Lord, perhaps for you, the Yuan Family is more essential than life itself. I shall fulfill this aspiration, as a new Yuan Family will take root and thrive there.] Sheni Pei resolved silently, then pushed open the Political Office’s door, bathed in sunlight.
