Chapter 464: Chapter 208: Spring Has Arrived, Again the Season for Everything to Revive_2

"Hmm, tonight I’ll go find Veronica and shoulder the responsibilities of an heir, to expand the Lando Family’s lineage, aiming to have at least one child per year."

"..."

Austin’s old face lengthened, and after a long pause, he said, "In two days, it’s the birthday of Financial City Mayor Angelo. You’re coming with me to the banquet. Remember, it’s someone else’s birthday party; we are guests, not the stars. Watch your mouth."

"Can I bring a secretary?"

"Only I can!"

Asserting his authority as the head of the family, Austin then teased, "I remember your birthday is on January 11th, just five days away. Aren’t you planning to do something?"

"Forget it, just get it over with. I’m not interested in my own birthday."

Wayne shook his head. January 11th was the birthday listed on his identification documents. Considering his identity as a double agent, that birthday was probably fake; it made no difference whether he celebrated it or not.

Besides, navigating was never easy. Should a collision set off a chain reaction, it could result in great loss.

Austin watched Wayne with interest, his lips curling upward slightly, planning to invite a few ladies over to their home for a dinner party on the 11th.

The location would be at the young master’s villa, a private gathering that would definitely be interesting.

-------------

January 8th.

North District of Lundan.

An upper-class evening banquet was held within a luxurious manor, the afterglow of the sunset lingering, faint mist emerging in the air. The night had yet to fall, yet brilliant lights had already illuminated the magnificent grounds.

Passing through the manor’s gate, one encountered a meticulously manicured garden, adorned with elegantly shaped sculptures scattered here and there, guardians of tranquility and beauty.

In the distance, at the end of the manor, was an evergreen hedge maze, dimly lit, perfect for couples seeking private moments.

Entering the banquet hall, a string of crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, their soft light reflecting off the luxurious decor, casting a romantic shadow across the grand space.

On the buffet table, exquisitely shaped silverware was neatly arranged, holding an array of delicious dishes. The guests, dressed in splendid attire, mingled and conversed cheerfully, their laughter and music intertwining, filling the air with an elegant melody.

Mayor Angelo, the host of the manor, had gone to great lengths to create a romantic atmosphere, even sprinkling many petals on the carpet and inviting a live band to play.

However, the exquisite murals on the walls and the verifiable array of ornaments still gave away Angelo—he was not deeply cultured, not a traditional Union Jack noble, without much substance to speak of.

In fact, as Austin had mentioned, the current Mayor of the Financial City’s election involved an extremely complex web of interest groups.

The father and son entered the main gate, followed closely by Megan, and soon saw Mayor Angelo.

A somewhat portly middle-aged man, meticulously dressed with a vintage sense of style in his attire.

"Austin, I’m really happy to see you tonight."

Angelo said with a smile as he reached out to shake hands with Austin, his gaze landing on Wayne and praising, "As expected of the Lando Family’s heir, I see your reflection in him."

Then came a barrage of praise: like father, like son; the family legacy would continue, and so on.

Wayne kept a smile and didn’t refute, nor did Austin offer any explanation.

Let it be. Anyway, no one would believe the truth even if spoken.

Austin had a solid status in Lundan, a re-elected former Mayor of the Financial City. Wherever he went, crowds of people gathered, with Wayne by his side receiving endless praise.

Beyond the accolades, there were young noblewomen asking for Wayne’s autograph, unwilling to let go after a handshake, proving once again the influence of the King Kong movie.

Wayne kept a polite smile throughout, not triggering any first love mechanisms, conducting himself as a perfect gentleman.

Since Angelo was the host of the dinner party, Austin didn’t want to overshadow him. After making the rounds with Wayne, he settled in a corner with his drink.

Soon, a murmur traveled through the crowd.

Curious, Wayne peered over, sensing the arrival of some big shot.

His eyes were good. Through the crowd, he saw a blonde figure in a white suit, attractive and well-mannered.

"That’s Prince Edward, the Queen’s eldest son, about your age," informed Austin.

"Should I go over and introduce myself?"

"No need, our loyalty is to the Queen alone. It’s not his turn yet."

"Understood."

Prince Edward interacted cheerfully with the surrounding nobles and tycoons without being overly intimate or distant, managing to charm everyone with a measure of respect.

The nobles and tycoons didn’t dare to disturb the Prince’s leisure, exchanging a few words before excusing themselves. Before long, only age-appropriate young ladies remained by the Prince’s side.

After all, he was a prince. Even betrothed, his allure remained undiminished.

Having greeted the noble daughters, Prince Edward, with a glass of red wine in hand, approached the corner and saw the Lando father and son, his face lighting up immediately.

Austin raised his glass and went forward, engaging in conversation with Prince Edward, sticking strictly to business matters, causing the prince some frustration.

Wayne listened from the side, realizing that the prince had his own ventures in the business world, investing in securities companies and even owning an auction house.

Since the constitutional monarchy, the Royal Family had retreated behind the scenes, handing over power to the government. However, members of the Royal Family were still expected to attend significant diplomatic and other major events, funded by the government, which was considered the regular work of the Royals.

Such significant events didn’t occur every day, so the Queen encouraged the Royal Family to venture out and look for work, not to sit at home all day draining taxpayers’ money. Following his mother’s orders, Edward had stepped into the financial arena.
