Myths Reawakened-Chapter 282 (2): Your Fianc Is Amazing
Wayne, Veronica, Silvia, and Senna went through the teleportation circle and arrived deep in the Frozen Land. There were more and more Church of Darkness camps around them. The camps were small-scale with limited personnel, but they had stockpiled quite a large quantity of supplies. They were happy to trade with outsiders, provided the prices were right.
Wayne found the Church of Darkness resembling NPCs in the Frozen Land. With money, they could buy equipment and supplies, and the church members were all accomplished mages in their own right, as if the church had stationed them here in case Thoggua broke the seal and awakened.
After the five goddesses sealed Thoggua with concerted effort, the other goddesses had only left knights to stand guard, but the Church of Darkness alone had stationed members. In comparison to the other goddesses, the Goddess of Darkness now held an elevated position in Wayne’s mind.
Again, as expected of the teacher in charge of discipline. She was so determined and responsible that the school nurse, PE teacher, music teacher, and history teacher could not compare.
Boom!
Green vines pushed through thick ice and snow as the four climbed out from underground, bracing against the cold wind. Senna politely stuffed the ice back in place and looked toward the distant black mountains stretching into the distance.
“That’s the Land of Seal, the former battlefield of the gods. If you focus your senses, you can detect the power of the chosen knights.”
“Indeed. Anyone with eyes can see,” Wayne quipped. The black mountains were enveloped by warm sunlight, cool moonlight, and surging vitality. The three powers created dazzling ribbons of radiance like the aurora, floating in the dark sky.
“Let’s go. We’re close.”
Senna led the way. Fierce winds whipped the black robes they were wearing. In the blink of an eye, they were swallowed by whiteness.
Half an hour later, a portal pulsed with light at the edge of the mountain range. Two Darkness mages guarding the gateway conducted their routine inspection.
“I am the Oracle High Reverend of the Church of Nature, here at the command of the Nature Knight.”
“A moment, please. We need to verify it.”
“Please hurry. The Nature Knight is waiting for us.”
Wayne passed through the magical barrier and went deeper into the aurora. The world before his eyes was lush with green and vitality, a stark contrast to the icy world outside.
Two different-colored lights interwove in the sky, rendering the dark dome a deep blue tone, infusing the forest covering the mountain with two entirely different energies. One was a passionately warm color, and the other was a serene, tranquil cold color.
The green forest took root and grew vigorously in the magical soil. Frozen droplets hung from the tree branches and reflected light, sparkling like stars. The two powers complemented and amplified each other.
Wayne breathed in the warm air, feeling the absolute balance between Nature, Sun, and Moonlight.
Surprisingly, there were dark elves active in the Land of Seal. Their long, slender elven ears, beautiful features, dark skin glowing with mysterious luster, and markings of faith on their cheeks all indicated what they were.
Wayne turned to Senna. Didn’t she say that the faiths were supposed to be incompatible? Why would the Sun Knight and the Moonlight Knight tolerate this many dark elves?
Senna didn’t answer. She had merely stated the facts about their faiths: light and darkness had always opposed each other. That was for certain.
The current situation could be explained. Thoggua, the ancient god’s vassal, would pose an absolute crisis that impacted the entire Chosen Land. Compared to the countless lives that could be lost, it made sense that the two chosen knights would set aside their aversion to Darkness. Besides, the Church of Darkness had been following the rules.
It didn’t take long for the Darkness mages guarding the gate to verify their identities, grant them passage, and direct them to the small cabin where Nature Knight Moula resided. They even provided a simple map of the Land of Seal.
“The area marked as a forbidden zone is off limits. It isn’t because we’re worried about you damaging anything, but you losing your lives,” the two mages warned.
Senna took the map and passed it to Wayne after a glance. He memorized it before handing it to Silvia and Veronica.
They had only just arrived, so they were curious about everything around them. Veronica caught pixies flapping their wings in the woods with her sharp eyes. They busily roamed through the forest, tending to every plant, loosening the soil, and watering the flowers. They were utterly absorbed in their busy work.
Veronica’s heart melted. She stood rooted to the spot, and Wayne had to drag her away.
“It’s natural for girls to like cute things. First, they just like them. Second, liking cute things makes girls cuter, so it can be a calculative trait. As for you...” Wayne roasted Veronica without pulling back. “You’re no longer a girl, Veronica. Grow up and give up this hobby of yours.”
Veronica didn’t understand what he was suddenly talking about at first. Only when she noticed her mother listening in did she realize Wayne’s intention. She punched him in the face to shut him up.
She was a girl. She had been, still was, and would always be.
Nature Knight Moula’s cabin was located right outside the forest, surrounded by green and pleasant floral scents. Several pixies flew around, tending to the place with particular care. Seeing strangers approach, they quickly flew away. Veronica couldn’t call them back even by spreading green energy from her fingertips.
Moula wasn’t home. He hurried over in his armor after about half an hour.
He broke into a smile when he saw Wayne. “It’s good to see you here.”
He was quite pleased. The seal in the Frozen Land was extremely dangerous, but his successor had still rushed over right after receiving his request. Wayne’s chivalrous spirit was not to be questioned. Moula could confidently entrust the future to such a responsible young man who was unafraid of sacrifice.
After exchanging a few words with Wayne, Moula grew even more satisfied. He turned to look at the three women accompanying Wayne and paused in surprise.
He recognized Senna as the Oracle High Reverend of the church and Wayne’s temporarily contracted mount, but what about the other two?
“Mr. Moula, this is my master, Silvia. She’s Windsor’s District High Reverend and Master Senna’s student. And this is Veronica. My master’s daughter and my fiancée.”
Wayne’s introduction delighted Veronica. She glanced at Senna reflexively. Heard that? He has a fiancée. You should leave on your own if you know what’s good for you.
Immature girl! Senna responded with a faint smile. What did Wayne having a fiancée have to do with her? She wasn’t going to marry Wayne.
Also, your fiancé is amazing!
Their eyes met, and they instantly understood each other’s message. Senna’s undisguised intention left Veronica speechless. Without her two besties with her, Veronica wasn’t confident that she could compete with the old hag.
“Wayne, this is a battlefield,” Moula said seriously. “It’s going to be dangerous. You shouldn’t have brought your family.”
“They aren’t just family. They are both Dragonbloods and can serve as my backup mounts.”
Wayne cited the excuse that he had prepared beforehand, reintroducing Silvia and Veronica with a stern expression. “I don’t know why you’ve summoned me, Mr. Moula, but I’m prepared for the worst. If Senna unfortunately perishes in battle, Silvia, my master, will take her place. Then Veronica, if worst comes to worst. My family and I are ready to shed our blood until the very last drop.”
His passionate speech moved Moula, who promised, “Rest assured that unless absolutely necessary, I won’t let my not-yet-mature successor join the battle. I called you here in preparation for my potential sacrifice.”
Wayne said in shock, “Mr. Moula, is the situation so dire that even a knight as powerful as you are may fall?”
“Everything related to the ancient god is dangerous. We must prepare for the worst,” Moula said with a smile.
But we’ve already come to the worst, he didn’t say.
“Oh, come inside and sit. I’ve had your quarters arranged, but I didn’t expect you to bring this many...” Moula turned around to invite the four inside. “I must go guard the forbidden ground. We change shifts every three days with five hours of rest in between. During the breaks, I’ll teach you the sword technique of the chosen knight. Prepare to work hard. We don’t have much time.”
“Of course.”
Wayne nodded. Just as he was about to enter the cabin with Moula, he sensed the power of Darkness surging from the portal and instinctively turned to look. A black dragon descended while beating her wings, shaking the ground and causing thunderous tremors.
The Darkness Knight stepped down from the dragon’s wing. On his helmet, crimson eyes scanned the surroundings. The aura unique to those with great power spread, earning the dark elves’ utmost reverence. They knelt on one knee and greeted him as Sir Knight.
The old man knows how to make an entrance!
Wayne rolled his eyes. It was more painful to watch Auston posturing successfully than to fail his own attempt. Moreover, Auston had departed first, but arrived later...
Oh, Senna had taken a shortcut. Never mind.
Auston raised his hands and accepted the dark elves’ worship. A few bold female elves stepped forward to express their admiration and respect for the chosen knight.
It was to be expected. Being a chosen knight was like a universal pass. In their respective churches, the chosen knights enjoyed the glory granted by faith and started with full affection with every follower they encountered. They could just walk right into a female follower’s home, coming and going as they pleased. Even if they put some buns in the ovens, the ovens would consider it a plus.
Of course, the same was true of the male followers.
Hearing the sound of teeth grinding together, Wayne turned to see Silvia’s eyes shine with murderous intent. He shrugged.
Yes, Master. That’s exactly the kind of person Auston is!
Sensing Silvia’s killing intent, Moula frowned slightly and asked, “High Reverend, is there bad blood between you and the Darkness Knight?”
“Yes!” Wayne answered for her. “The Darkness Knight once killed the church’s elites in the Windsor District. That was why my master took over as the High Reverend. She despises the Darkness Knight and wants nothing more than to kill him with her own hands.”
And she had acted on it: a simple beating every three days and a serious beating every five days, only he hadn’t died!
Wayne’s heart soared with glee. There would be another good show.
Moula fell silent. Then he said, “High Reverend, I know that this may not be the right thing to say, but the Darkness Knight has arrived at the Land of Seal for everyone’s sake. I hope you can set aside the conflicts of faiths from the outside world for now and not show your hostility.”
Silvia’s eyes twitched. She couldn’t find a reason to reject the Nature’s Knight’s request, but...
Bastard, push those women away! Why are you just standing there without moving?
I’ll beat you to death when we get home!
