Chapter 260 - 259 : News of Hayashi!!
Deidara is gone?
The voices of the shinobi echoed as they exchanged looks of confusion and disbelief.
They had been assigned by Ōnoki to monitor Deidara's actions—just to make sure he wasn't doing anything that could harm Iwagakure.
According to Ōnoki's instructions, checking in every three days was enough. But on just their second visit, they found Deidara's residence completely reduced to rubble by an explosion. And Deidara himself was nowhere to be found.
"Good thing the Tsuchikage had him leave the village beforehand. Otherwise, judging by the power of this explosion, the nearby villagers could've been caught up in it!" One of the shinobi muttered, staring at the ruined ground.
Clearly, he didn't have a good opinion of Deidara.
"Enough complaining! The Tsuchikage ordered us to track Deidara's movements. Now he's vanished—how are we supposed to report this back?" The lead shinobi frowned, his tone serious.
Failing a direct order from the Tsuchikage was a major mistake.
"Relax. Deidara probably noticed the explosion spread too far, so he just relocated," the shinobi who had complained earlier said dismissively. He glanced around before continuing, "Let's search the area. We might find him nearby."
With that, he signaled the group to split up and search.
As he moved out, he still grumbled under his breath, "Seriously, this guy's just a walking disaster. Why does the Tsuchikage care so much about him?"
Annoyed as they were, they scattered to look for him.
But as night fell, they regrouped—this time with tense expressions.
Their initial confidence had faded.
The group exchanged glances and shook their heads.
There were no clues, and no signs of anyone living nearby. It was clear that Deidara was missing.
"Captain, do you think Deidara secretly went back to the village?" the person who had been complaining earlier asked.
"No!" The man in black at the front shook his head and continued, "I summoned my summoning beast, the Violent Bear, to track Deidara's scent. The answer it gave was that he headed in that direction and seemed to be following someone else!"
{Among animals, a bear's sense of smell is seven times stronger than a dog's, so I didn't use ninja dogs, because using only one type of ninja dog as a tracking summoning beast would be a bit boring!}
The man in black pointed toward Konoha, his face growing serious. freёnovelkiss.com
"Konoha? And he's following someone else?" The others were shocked. They hadn't expected Deidara to leave, let alone head toward Konoha.
"Deidara has a close relationship with the Uchiha brat who came to Iwagakure this time. He might have gone with him!" One of the ninjas seemed to remember something and added.
"He's following the Uchiha brat?" The man at the front furrowed his brow.
"Forget about it. In my opinion, Deidara is either going to Konoha or planning to cause trouble there!" Someone continued with a sarcastic remark, feeling slightly relieved.
"No. This matter must be reported to Lord Tsuchikage!"
Iwagakure Village!
Tsuchikage's Office.
"What? You say Deidara went to Konoha with the Uchiha brat?" Onoki furrowed his brow after hearing the report.
He never expected this kind of result. Deidara actually left with that Uchiha kid?
"Yes, that's what it seems!" The person nodded.
"That Uchiha brat has gone too far. He actually took one of my Iwagakure ninjas with him?" Onoki's expression remained dark as he listened to the news. He truly didn't expect this outcome.
"Lord Tsuchikage, let me bring that brat Deidara back!"
In Onoki's mind, no matter how troublesome Deidara was, he was still from the Land of Earth. How could he just follow someone else?
"No need. Let them leave," Ōnoki shook his head and said to Onoki, "Deidara has his own thoughts now. If you forcefully bring him back, it will only stir up his rebellious nature, and that... might backfire."
Ōnoki understood Deidara's character very well. Deidara was someone they had personally pushed out of the village. Forcibly bringing him back could lead to a complete break between Deidara and Iwagakure.
Letting Deidara go free was the best option.
Deidara wouldn't stay in Konoha for long, and Konoha wouldn't let him stay in the village for too long either. Eventually, Deidara would have no choice but to return.
Thus, Ōnoki decided to abandon the search for Deidara.
Genya took Deidara and headed towards Konoha, making their way back in a few days.
During the journey,
Uchiha Shin advised Genya to have Deidara stay outside the village, but Genya refused.
Because Genya knew that Deidara wasn't the kind of person to kill innocents. Even after following the Akatsuki for so many years, he hadn't done anything that would make everyone hate him.
"Stop! Who's that person next to Uchiha Shin?"
Just as Genya and the others were about to enter Konoha, a team from the Konoha Police Force stopped them—it was the Sarutobi clan's Police Force.
The leader was someone Genya recognized very well—Sarutobi Eisuke!
"Eisuke!" Uchiha Shin's temper flared upon seeing Sarutobi Eisuke, but he held his anger back and said, "This is a friend of Genya from the Land of Earth, Deidara!"
"Why is he here in Konoha?" Sarutobi Eisuke continued to question, his tone filled with clear suspicion, as if he thought Deidara was trouble just because he was brought by Genya.
"Of course, he's here to hang out with me!" Genya spoke up, "I don't have many friends, so I thought I'd show my brother around Konoha. Got a problem with that?"
"If he's a friend, then I have no issue," Sarutobi Eisuke said, his gaze sharp. "But... I just want to remind you, keep an eye on him. If he causes trouble in Konoha, your Uchiha clan will be the ones to deal with the consequences."
Sarutobi Eisuke's words were filled with anger.
"Don't worry about it, Captain Sarutobi," Genya replied with a smile, then mocked, "If you had done your job properly the other day, the Uchiha clan wouldn't have had so many foreign ninjas invading, but alas..."
"Genya..." Sarutobi Eisuke's eyes turned cold, his glare piercing as he glared at Genya.
Genya's words had clearly mocked him, but sadly, Eisuke had no way to argue, since it was true that foreign ninjas had invaded the Uchiha clan's territory.
Ignoring Sarutobi Eisuke's furious look, Genya turned and left.
Back at the Uchiha clan's land, Genya settled Deidara in and then went to find his father to ask about recent news in the ninja world.
Uchiha Kinya shook his head.
"There's nothing major happening in the ninja world recently, but something did stir up a little commotion. A few days ago, a ninja who could use Wood Release killed a top-level rogue ninja from Cloud Village."
