In the heart of the marsh stood a massive tree.

It resembled the smaller ones scattered around, but dwarfed them in scale—over twenty meters tall, its branches stretched more than a hundred meters in every direction.

Many branches drooped downward, piercing deep into the marsh.

Bathed in light, it shimmered with a soft, white glow, exuding a faint holiness like that of a sacred tree.

The radiance stemmed from the Light God, imbued with divine aura.

Yet without its source, it was nothing.

Mo Yun said solemnly, “It can move. I’ll lure it out. You finish it quickly, before it retreats to the Holy Light Marsh.”

“If it absorbs the holy light, it’ll recover and grow even stronger.”

Lin Moyu shook his head, “No need.”

The moment his words fell, an explosion burst against the boss.

A Skeletal Great Mage had struck first, casting Elemental Explosion.

The boss shuddered violently, lashing out with massive branches like whips.

The Skeletal Great Mage retreated swiftly, dodging the strikes, and the boss gave chase, leaping from the marsh after it.

Mo Yun realized she had overcomplicated things.

With so many skeletons at hand, there was no need for her to lure the boss.

Whatever she could do, Lin Moyu could accomplish on his own—without lifting a finger.

It was her first time clearing a dungeon so effortlessly, and the feeling was strangely satisfying.

The boss was dragged away from the Holy Light Marsh, its numerous branches stretching for hundreds of meters.

In an instant, it had been lured hundreds of meters away.

“That’s far enough.” Lin Moyu muttered, raising a finger.

Skill: Deterioration Curse!

Skill: Poison Starburst!

All of a sudden, red and green light flared.

Several Elemental Liches appeared, summoning thundering lightning and frost that clung to the boss.

Skeletons swarmed, launching a merciless assault.

Elemental Explosions rang out, and the Skeletal Berserk Warriors’ axes, glowing with red light, came crashing down.

Lin Moyu didn’t even bother checking its attributes.

As a level 55 dungeon boss—even though it was a plant-type and of hell rank difficulty—it stood no chance against the current undead army.

From the first strike to the final blow, only two seconds passed before Mo Yun received the notification of its death.

Her eyes widened in disbelief, “It’s… already dead?”

“What else did you expect?” Lin Moyu replied flatly, “If it weren’t to stop it from absorbing the holy light, there’d be no need to lure it out at all.”

She had to admit he was right. Two seconds, that was all it took.

Lin Moyu hadn’t even used Enhance Troops. If he had, it would’ve been instant annihilation.

Mo Yun shivered at the thought.

Lin Moyu’s strength had grown far beyond what she remembered. And she was falling further and further behind.

His voice pulled her back, “We can enter the marsh now.”

She nodded, following him into the glowing marsh.

The holy light was thick, almost tangible, washing over them like waves as they sank deeper.

As they reached the bottom, their vision was filled with a blinding sea of white.

Lin Moyu closed his eyes, then summoned a skeleton.

Skeletons didn’t rely on eyes, but had their own way of seeing.

Through their perspective, Lin Moyu quickly found the right direction.

“Follow me.”

He suddenly grabbed Mo Yun’s hand, pulling her forward.

In the glow of the white light, her face flushed crimson, “This is the second time…”

Lin Moyu had taken her hand before—in the Primordial Battlefield.

Her heart pounded wildly in her chest.

“Watch out!” Lin Moyu shouted.

The next moment, Mo Yun found herself swept into his arms as he retreated at high speed.

Not only had he lifted her, but her body was cradled at a new angle.

Suddenly, their retreat accelerated, and Mo Yun felt the jolt of a powerful impact.

“We’re under attack!” Though she couldn’t see anything, her instincts screamed the truth.

She was about to summon Little White when Lin Moyu’s calm voice stopped her.

“There’s no need. It’s fine.”

Their retreat halted abruptly.

The sound of clattering bones echoed, and Mo Yun realized the undead army had arrived.

Skeletons surged forward, forming a wall before them.

Explosions of sound followed as beams of light smashed into the skeletons, sending them flying.

“The source is pretty interesting.” Lin Moyu observed, “It has a self-protection mechanism that prevents anyone from approaching.”

Mo Yun only gave a soft grunt.

Strangely, she didn’t ask him to put her down.

Her face burned, thoughts tangled, but one feeling consumed her: an overwhelming reassurance.

That single phrase—it’s fine—made her feel shielded, as if Lin Moyu alone could block out the world’s tribulations.

In that moment, he seemed impossibly tall and strong.

“Mo Yun, you’re destined to be a God-level powerhouse. What’s going through your head?”

“But… this feeling… it’s so nice.”

“You have to depend on yourself, not someone else.”

“I wasn’t depending on him.”

“He has a wife, and she’s your best friend.”

“I know. But I’m not trying to be his wife—can’t I just fantasize?”

“No.”

“Well, I will anyway!”

A battle raged within Mo Yun’s mind, two versions of herself locked in argument.

Lin Moyu, however, remained oblivious to the storm in her thoughts.

In the world of blinding light, he advanced behind his undead army.

Rays of holy light knocked skeletons aside, yet the undead army pressed on relentlessly, a shield of bones.

Finally, with Mo Yun in his arms, Lin Moyu reached the source of the light.

He put her down, then extended his hand, placing it on the source.

The entire Holy Light Marsh erupted. Holy light surged, then receded, collapsing back into the source.

In moments, the marsh vanished. The brilliance disappeared.

Lin Moyu spoke softly: “It’s all right. You can open your eyes now.”

“Mhm.” Mo Yun lowered her head, trying to steady herself.

The blush on her face lingered, but when she saw Lin Moyu wasn’t looking at her, she finally relaxed.

Then she noticed the source of the holy light: a wing—radiant, sacred, and purer than the most flawless jade. Even the finest gem seemed dull in comparison.

“This is…” Mo Yun’s breath quickened. She had a guess, but it felt impossible.

Lin Moyu said calmly, “A wing of the Light God. Someone must have severed it.”

The Detection spell flew out.

[Light God’s Wing: contains the power and essence of the Light God.]

Mo Yun whispered, “Have you ever seen the Light God?”

Lin Moyu asked instead, “Do you know the Holy Overseer Church, and the Angel they worship?”

She nodded. “Yes.”

“The Light God likely resembles the Angel. I suspect the church has been worshiping the Light God all along, without even realizing it.”

“So that’s how it is…”

But Lin Moyu had another suspicion.

He wondered if the Holy Overseer Church was nothing more than a pawn placed in the Human World by the Light God.

After all, a fallen God might one day rise again—if enough faith fueled their resurrection. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Alone, the Light God might not succeed. But with the church gathering faith on their behalf… the chances would rise dramatically.

Lin Moyu placed his hand on the severed wing.

“Too bad it’s in my hands now. If the Holy Overseer Church had gotten it, worshiped it every day… perhaps you really could have risen again.”

Mo Yun blinked, “What did you say?”

Lin Moyu's voice had been very soft, and she hadn't heard him clearly.

He shook his head, “Nothing. Have Little White absorb it.”

Mo Yun nodded and summoned Little White.

The summon pressed against the wing, drawing in the holy light contained within.

Its body shone brighter and brighter. Within seconds, the energy it absorbed eclipsed everything it had ever taken in previously.

The feathers it had absorbed were mere fragments—insignificant pieces shed by the wind. No matter how many there were, they couldn’t compare to absorbing the wing itself.

That wing held an almost limitless reserve of the Light God’s essence.

Lin Moyu could feel the vastness of it. The Light God must have been a mid-tier God, no weaker than the Poison God.

Yet now they were gone. Even their wing had been severed.

“What in the world happened back then?”
