Necromancer: I Am A Disaster-Chapter 616: The Lightning Trees’s Kingdom
Along the way, Lin Moyu encountered several more groups of Dragonkind.
Drawn by the aura coming from him, they approached, only to freeze in terror the moment they saw him.
He gave them no chance to flee; one by one, they fell beneath the Headless Knights’ swords.
A thought surfaced in Lin Moyu’s mind: he could sweep across the entire Wind-Lightning Continent, slaughtering every Dragonkind and Abyssal Demon, driving them out completely.
But he crushed the thought as soon as it appeared.
Doing so might greatly enhance human safety in the lower layer, but it would not benefit the human race in the long run.
Survival of the fittest was a natural law.
Humans needed continuous conflict to grow stronger—without it, their fighting spirit would fade.
Thunder rumbled louder and louder. Lightning flickered wildly across the sky, bolts striking under clear skies.
Serpents of lightning writhed through the air, occasionally crashing down into the forest below.
The Lightning Trees absorbed each strike, growing stronger with every bolt.
Lin Moyu had reached the region where the Lightning Trees were located. Before him stretched a vast mountain range, blanketed entirely by Lightning Trees.
This Lightning Mountain Range was the largest of its kind on the Wind-Lightning Continent, home to over a million Lightning Trees.
No one knew how many bosses lived within, nor how powerful they were.
Various other monsters inhabited the forest as well, coexisting peacefully with the Lightning Trees.
Few people dared to come here.
The Lightning Trees never initiated attacks, but the monsters certainly did.
Getting entangled with monsters alone was troublesome enough.
Accidentally using an area-of-effect skill and provoking the Lightning Trees could be fatal.
If they attacked together, few class users would survive.
Still, compared to the Wind Flower cluster, this place was relatively safer. As long as one was lucky and didn’t venture too deep, escape was possible.
But once someone entered the depths of the Lightning Mountain Range, only fate would decide their end.
Lin Moyu flew nearly 100 kilometers into the mountain range before stopping. Suspended high in the sky, he looked down at the vast sea of Lightning Trees.
Their heights varied—short trees with thin trunks, tall ones with thick trunks.
Their size clearly reflected their level; the thicker and taller, the higher the level.
This was well-documented knowledge.
As Lin Moyu observed, something caught his attention.
“The Lightning Trees are grouped into units of 10,000… Each cluster forms a small region. The boundaries are faint, but visible if you look closely.”
Indeed, the forest was divided into sections, each separated by gaps of several dozen meters. Monsters lived within these gaps.
If the entire Lightning Mountain Range was a kingdom, then these sections were its cities—distinct and orderly.
Every section of 10,000 Lightning Trees had one massive, towering tree at its center: a world rank boss.
Judging by its aura, Lin Moyu estimated it to be around level 80.
He continued flying deeper, into a land untouched by humans, a realm ruled solely by lightning and Lightning Trees.
Even Wind Flowers could not survive here.
As he observed further, a pattern became undeniable: the Lightning Trees always formed sections of 10,000. And for every 100,000, there was an even greater tree overseeing the 10 sections like a provincial lord.
“If that’s the case… there must be a king. A ruler of all the Lightning Trees.”
“And that king should be at the center of the mountain range.”
Lin Moyu gazed toward the center, sending his soul force outward.
Suddenly, a brilliant bolt of lightning tore across the sky.
The entire mountain range lit up as countless serpents of lightning wove through the air.
Space itself twisted, as if on the verge of rupture.
“What astonishing lightning… nearly God-level,” Lin Moyu murmured.
Lightning spread across hundreds of kilometers, then a bolt connecting heaven and earth crashed down.
In that blinding flash, Lin Moyu saw an immense Lightning Tree atop the highest peak, absorbing and enduring the strike without fear.
“This is the king of the Lightning Tree.” He concluded instantly.
Its level was at least level 88, perhaps even level 89, but still short of God-level.
The closer the sections were to the king, the stronger the Lightning Trees became.
In the lightning’s glow, Lin Moyu spotted an entire guard of boss rank Lightning Trees, forming a royal guard.
Lightning continued to hammer the Lightning Tree king, then spread into the earth.
Lin Moyu narrowed his eyes. Once the lightning entered the ground, he could no longer trace it.
“Is there something beneath the ground?”
Something was wrong. He just couldn’t say what.
Ever since seeing the structure of the Lightning Tree forest, Lin Moyu felt they resembled animals more than plants.
Ordinary plants didn’t form such orderly systems.
According to the information he’d gathered, Lightning Trees possessed a degree of intelligence and even a simple hierarchy, dividing their territory into units resembling a nation’s provinces and cities. No plant should behave like that.
As he pondered, a sharp cry split the air.
A Thunder Eagle, sparks crackling around its body, burst from the Lightning Tree forest and swooped at him.
A flicker of fire ignited in Lin Moyu’s hand.
Skill: Soul Blaze.
The Thunder Eagle shrieked and plummeted.
It was only around level 75, and not even a boss, so Soul Blaze almost instantly killed it.
It crashed into the ground, triggering a wave of shrill cries.
The Lightning Tree forest erupted. Thunder Eagles surged into the sky, swooping toward Lin Moyu.
Hitting one had provoked them all.
He had come to the Lightning Mountain Range to hunt Lightning Trees anyway, so dealing with the monsters here was only natural.
His undead army appeared in the sky. Before the Headless Knights could even charge, the Skeletal Great Mages and Skeletal Marksmen fired first.
Skill: Elemental Rampage!
Skill: Soul Shot.
Elemental blasts and soul attacks rained down together.
Thunder Eagles fell like raindrops, crashing into the Lightning Tree forest below.
Chaotic elemental aura still clung to them, and the flames from the explosions had yet to fade.
Those flames spread across the Lightning Trees.
The Lightning Trees’ branches quivered and released lightning.
Crack!
Explosions of lightning boomed through the air.
As if responding to a signal, the entire Lightning Tree forest reacted. The whole Lightning Mountain Range suddenly came alive.
From high in the sky, Lin Moyu saw a breathtaking sight.
He finally understood why this place was called the Lightning Mountain Range.
The vast range, stretching 1,000 kilometers deep and hundreds wide, transformed into a sea of lightning in an instant.
Every Lightning Tree acted in unison, firing bolts of lightning skyward.
Lin Moyu and his undead army were swallowed by the sea of lightning.
His Lightning Elemental Immunity allowed him to ignore the attacks, but his undead troops were not so fortunate; they took constant damage.
The passive Elemental Resistance skill reduced incoming elemental damage to him and his summons eightfold, but even with that, the sheer number of attacks was overwhelming.
Even weak blows could kill an elephant if enough ants delivered them.
There were over a million Lightning Trees in the mountain range, and at least a third were now targeting him.
Lightning filled his vision.
Just like with the Wind Flowers, he once again felt the exhilaration of being overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
The undead army surged through the sea of lightning, pressing toward the ground below.
The throne of bones emerged.
This time, Lin Moyu changed tactics. He summoned three Skeletal Kings, each formed from 30,000 skeletons.
Since the Skeletal King had cooldowns, summoning three allowed him to unleash three consecutive waves of area-of-effect attacks.
Against ordinary Lightning Trees, a Skeletal King of 30,000 skeletons was more than sufficient.
The three Skeletal Kings split apart, advancing through the churning lightning. Their immense attributes let them endure the lightning for a while.
Their two skills, Godslayer and Elemental Rampage, were both devastating area-of-effect attacks.
Each skill covered a radius of 3,000 meters, blanketing everything within range.
Bone swords swept out, cleaving through lightning itself.
Arcs of sword qi tore across the ground, ripping through the Lightning Trees.
Numerous Lightning Trees within range were cut cleanly in half.
But plant-type monsters boasted high health; that alone wasn’t enough to kill them.
Then came Elemental Rampage, a violent eruption that blew up huge numbers of Lightning Trees, roots and all.
White light rose from Lin Moyu.
With a single sequence of strikes, he earned an enormous surge of EXP, shooting straight to level 73.
