New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 58: Over a cup of tea

"Uhh.. Sorry— what?" Coco blinked rapidly, her body frozen in her spot as she stared at the white haired woman behind the glass display.

She came inside the Magia Pierre to ask Mrs. Tani to buy some of the fruits first before she starts selling them to the vendors in the market and also, she wants to ask her if dragon fruits are a thing in their world.

However, she was slapped in the face with the relieved and thankful expression on the woman’s face.

"Would you mind having a conversation about it over tea?" Mrs. Tani asked, a pleading look in her eyes, making Coco even more confused.

"I think she’s planning something sinister!" The garden fairy perched on Coco’s head exclaimed, "Don’t be fooled, Coco! People with pretty faces are usually the baddest ones!"

Uhuh.. That’s true though. Coco agreed with Lala’s statement in her mind.

"Well, if you’ll tell me what kind of tea we will be having." Coco said, her voice brimming with reluctance, "This is sudden, but if it’s really important then I’m willing to listen..?"

Mrs. Tani’s face brightened up when Coco agreed, albeit reluctantly, but still agreed nonetheless.

"Yes! Of course, of course, it will be worth your time!" Mrs. Tani exclaimed, the tone of her voice holding a promise that somehow assured Coco and Lala, "Come to the back with me, I’ll prepare you some tea."

Coco did as she was told and made her way behind the counter, following Mrs. Tani at the back of the shop.

Just like the interior of the shop, the back looked pretty cozy and warm with the wooden furniture, linings, and scents of incense— she could feel strange energies lingering in the air, too, making her wonder if it came from the magic stones inside the shop.

She couldn’t wonder much about it because she was led to the dark colored cushion adorned with flower carvings, the intricate designs was a telltale sign that it was carved by a professional.

"Please wait here for a moment." Mrs. Tani said and excused herself before she made a beeline to a small kitchenette from the other side of the room.

Coco watched the dark skinned woman work inside the kitchenette, holding a kettle, filling it with water where she saw a small blue magic stone inside the faucet, and placing it on the stove which has two red medium magic stones.

"What are those small gems?" The garden fairy wondered out loud, shifting on Coco’s hair as she tried to think what it was used for.

Though, before she could think of any way to come clean, Mrs. Tani was done with her tea preparation and came forward while carrying a small wooden tray.

"This is chamomile tea." Mrs. Tani informed her as she placed the teacups down on the table, "It helps with relaxation, stress, and can help a person have a good night sleep. It also lessens a person’s overthinking if served before bedtime."

"Oooohhh." Lala and Coco let out at the time, amazed at the sudden information dump about the tea.

"Would you mind if I make a phone call for a moment? I have to inform my husband about the flying pig you bought at the butcher shop." Mrs. Tani said, asking for permission to excuse herself once more.

"Ah— no, no, no, go ahead." Coco chuckled out nervously as she waved her hand frantically, "I actually told Jacques and Renaldo that you will be coming today so they should give you a discount, but seeing that we’re going to talk, tell your husband to tell them that you sent him instead and that I know about it."

Mrs. Tani blinked in surprise and opened her mouth to say something, but Coco only smiled at her which made her nod her head and decide against it.

Then, Mrs. Tani immediately went out of the room and stood in front of the doorway where the telephone was placed.

The garden fairy had flown out of Coco’s head and looked down at the tea instead, she dipped her head inside the teacup to smell the tea and let out a satisfied hum.

"Ah, my dearest Jam. I’m so sorry to trouble you, but can you go to the butcher shop instead? I made an appointment with someone important and we’re about to— yes? Yes, yes, yes.. Oh, no, you can buy whatever you want...."

Coco smiled softly when she heard the soft and gentle tone of Mrs. Tani while talking to her husband. Not only that, the cringe nickname? Jam? That’s a sign that she loves him! She’s smitten to the point that she called him with a cringe nickname!

Only people who truly love someone would give someone they love a cringe or bad nickname.

So, hearing Mrs. Tani giving Joachim the nickname of Jam made her smile and root for the two of them at the sidelines, just cheering them on and being there as the first fan of the ship!

The telephone call with Joachim was quicker than Coco expected because it wasn’t even a minute later when Mrs. Tani came back inside the room and settled herself in front of Coco.

"What I’m about to ask of you would be shameless of me, but the exchange for it was the thing you asked of me this morning." The merchant started with a grim expression on her face.

Coco swallowed thickly, feeling like she was at the death’s door due to how serious and tense Mrs. Tani looks.

"I have a client, a customer, a patron— or whatever you want to call him.. Who wants to have something as soon as possible.."
