Chapter 604: Lala’s explanation

Coco and Quizen walked into the kitchen, high from the happiness and fuzzy feeling they felt when they shared a passionate kiss in his bathroom.

However, they froze mid-step when they spotted Lala sitting at the table, with Richard serving her a plate of pancakes with exaggerated care and a small smile on his lips.

Lala turned to him, having seen them in her peripheral vision, and blinked up at them as if nothing had changed.

"Good morning!" She chirped, completely unaware of what had just happened between Coco and Richard when she was sleeping in the goleter’s bed last night.

Richard shot them both an unreadable look over his shoulder before muttering. ".. Pancakes are ready."

Coco eyed Richard and Lala suspiciously, but she approached the table with slow pace and dragged Quizen with her, but when she got closer, her expression softened and she looked at Lala.

"Good morning, Lala." Coco greeted with a warm smile, one that was just a little too innocent for Richard’s liking.

Coco quickly looked at Richard, making him stiffen under Coco’s gaze like he had been caught in some unspoken crime.

He awkwardly set down another pancake on Lala’s plate without comment, making Lala beamed up at them both obliviously. "You’re all so nice to me! Oh, and thank you for the pancakes, Richard~"

Coco took a seat across from Lala and Richard hovered over them, serving up pancakes for Coco too.

Coco smiled at Lala, as she forced Quizen to take a seat beside her. "Why wouldn’t I be nice to you, Lala? You’re my friend. If there’s someone in this house who would be nice to you after you change appearances, it would be me, and without ulterior motives."

Coco’s eyes flickered up to meet Richard’s briefly before returning to Lala.

Richard froze in the middle of pouring more batter for the pancakes, his expression shifting into a frown.

"The nerve." He muttered something under his breath.

"You’re not mad at me..?" Lala asked, blinking up at her with those red eyes. "I had sex with Richard."

The second the words left Lala’s mouth— Richard choked on his spit, his face turning a violent shade of red as he doubled over in a coughing fit, his hand covering his mouth in an attempt to stop it.

Lala’s cheerful smile didn’t waver as she tilted her head at Coco, completely oblivious to the chaos she had just unleashed.

Coco’s smile didn’t waver as well and she kept her composure, but the corners of her lips curled in a knowing smile as she eyed Richard with an annoyed glint in her eyes.

"Don’t worry." Coco said with a hum. "I don’t mind it. It’s your life."

Then, she tilted her head and added. ".. Why aren’t you small anymore? Aren’t fairies supposed to be small?"

Lala blinked at her, tilting her head as she considered the question before she started fidgeting slightly under Coco’s inquisitive gaze, but her cheerful demeanor didn’t diminish.

"My size isn’t really small." She began, her voice low and quiet.

She paused for a moment before continuing. "But I can’t be as big as you, either. I had to wait for a certain period of time for my body to adjust."

Coco’s eyebrow quirked up as she absorbed this new bit of information. Coco had never said anything about this before.. Why didn’t she tell her? Isn’t this important ?

"Adjust how?" Coco decided to press for more information, her curiosity piqued.

Lala straightened up at Coco’s question, her smile widening as she leaned forward excitedly, obviously eager to share some knowledge.

"The magic level of this world is quite low because this world was made not too long ago." she explained, gesturing animatedly with her hands. "So my body had to adjust. If this was Earth, I wouldn’t be able to grow in size at all, you know?"

Coco blinked slowly as Lala rambled on like an overexcited child explaining a science project.

Richard merely stared at Lala, his eyes softening ever so slightly as he tried to understand what she was saying.

".. I have no idea what you’re talking about." The goleter mumbled, even though he wasn’t the one Lala was speaking to.

Unlike Richard, Coco nodded her head slowly as she processed what Lala was saying because she understands.

"I see.." She murmured, tilting her head a little.

"So, what you’re saying..." Coco began slowly, trying to make sure she understood correctly. "This is what you actually look like even back in your homeland? Uh.. What was the name? Was it Fairy Dale?"

Lala nodded enthusiastically, her face shining with excitement as she listened attentively to Coco’s words. "Yes, that’s right. It was Fairy Dale, and yes! This is what I actually look like!"

Coco hummed in response, her mind whirring as she tried to make sense of the information. "Okay.. And you were waiting for some mana?"

Lala nodded again as she explained further, squealing. "You’re so smart, Coco! The mana in my body comes from Fairy Dale! And if I haven’t said it to you before, mana is basically just an energy that acts as magic!"

"I know." Coco assured her, smiling. "Anyway, what was the problem with the mana in your body?"

"Oh, uhm.. The mana in this world.. It’s quite different from our own." The fairy murmured, her expression turning almost solemn for a moment. "So it took some time for my body to adjust."

"But isn’t this world made by fairies?" Coco asked, blinking owlishly. "Why would it be different from your world?"

Lala paused, her eyebrows furrowing as she thought hard of the right words to explain it to Coco. "Uhm.. Think of it as a mother and father making an offspring."

Coco brightened up. "Oh! I think I know what you mean now.. The children they made are theirs, but they are not entirely like them."

"Yes!" Lala beamed at Coco like a child eager for a gold star, and Coco could just smile back.
