New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 609: A reward?
The kitchen door swung open, alerting Quizen and Heiren who were standing by the staircase.
"I really don’t need to come everyday to the guild." Coco’s voice flowed out of the room first before they saw her step out, her eyes red and puffy, but there was a cheerful smile on her lips.
"Are you really sure..?" Cleora’s voice came in second and just like Coco, she stepped out of the kitchen, too.
"I’m sure, mama." Coco giggled and dragged her out of the room before she led her mother inside of the living room, not noticing the presence of her two lovely mediators.
She walked past the two of them, the mother and the daughter engaged in a conversation the two couldn’t quite make sense of.
"Did you see her eyes?" Quizen whispered to Heiren. "They were red."
"She looked fine though." Heiren whispered back, the two of them peeking their heads around the corner to see what the mother and daughter duo are up to.
They saw Coco force Cleora down onto the couch before she rushed over to the telebox sitting across the room.
"I have not watched anything with this magical device since we bought it." Coco said, laughing quietly as she turned on the magical television. "But since you’re here.. I can ask Heiren to help me cook something so we can enjoy a whole day of watching whatever."
"Oh!" Cleora visibly perked up, her voice dripping with excitement. "Like a movie night, but during the day?"
"Yes, mama." Coco giggled, just in time for the magical television’s screen to come into life. "I don’t know what they have in here, but since you already watched some of it.. Why don’t you choose what we will watch?"
Heiren’s and Quizen’s hearts swelled at the sight of their wife’s smile.
If there was something that could change their minds quickly, it would be seeing Coco’s smile and hearing Coco’s laugh. It was like a switch, whatever makes her happy will also automatically make them happy.
"They’re going to spend the day together." Quizen whispered to Heiren, his lips stretching wide into a grin.
"Zaque already left, so you will have to go to the bakery he works at to buy some bread." Heiren turned to the fourth husband, straightening himself up and ushering the two of them inside the kitchen.
"I can’t bake good pastries like him, unfortunately, but we can buy something from where he works to get the chocolate bread she loves." The second husband stated, already fishing out a gold coin from his pocket.
"Here." He said and dropped the coin onto Quizen’s hand. "Buy whatever you can using that coin."
"I could have used my own money." Quizen retorted, his eyebrows furrowing in displeasure as he looked down at the gold coin. "Whatever, I’ll go now. Boil some water so I can make her favorite drink once I get back."
"You don’t have to tell me twice." Heiren called, already moving towards the kettle.
Quizen didn’t waste any more seconds inside the kitchen and rushed towards the front door, but before he could reach the door, a hand reached out and yanked him back by the back of his shirt.
"Ack—" The mediator gasped in fear, his feet scrambling to get his balance stabilized.
"Relax." Coco’s voice reached Quizen’s ears the moment he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. "I just wanted to ask where you’re off to in such a hurry. Didn’t you say that you don’t have work today?"
Quizen’s heart was pounding loudly against his ears, but the sight of Coco’s confused face made his heart pound for another reason.
"Y-Yeah.." The blue haired mediator answered, his voice sounding a little breathless from both shock and fear. "I-I was on my way out to buy some bread for you and mother, but I’ll be back before you know it."
Coco blinked, and she brightened up tremendously. "Is that so? You’re being such a good husband to me. I’ll give you a reward once you’re back."
Quizen’s heart skipped a beat. A reward? He’s going to receive a reward for being good to her?
The mediator’s face practically became flushed with color after hearing those words and the sight was enough to make Coco giggle.
"Aww, you’re so cute." Coco cooed before she started pressing kisses on Quizen’s face.
She missed his forehead, his nose, his cheeks, his eyelids, his little eyebags, but not on his lips— the only place that he desperately wanted to feel her lips against.
"I can’t have you walking out there looking like this, pretty boy. I have to make sure you have calmed down first, then you can go." Coco hummed, brushing her fingertips under his eyes as she caressed his flushed cheeks.
Quizen couldn’t breathe at this point, his brain turned into a mush at the sudden onslaught of kisses.
"Damn." Coco grumbled, snapping him out of his daze for a moment, and was shocked to see her lean in, her lips pressed against the shell of his right ear. "You look so cute that I want to breed you right here, right now."
The words were whispered right into his ear, but he felt like she had screamed those words aloud at how loud her voice was against him.
Before he could react, Coco was suddenly pulled away from him with a force that caused him to stumble back against the front door, his back pressing clumsily on it.
"Ow!" Coco hissed, her voice dripping with a whine. "Oh, come on! I was so close to making his knees weak!"
"Go do what you were told, Quizen." Alhai called, his voice ringing out across the hallway and snapping Quizen out of his foggy mind. "And make sure you have cooled yourself off before you come back."
The mediator was quick to do as he was told, his heart still pounding against his ears as he swung the door open and rushed out, slamming the door shut behind him.
