New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 615: Magical cube and chocolate
"Coco? Oh, Coco!" Yuuko brightened up when she spotted Coco walking towards the mission board.
"It’s been a while! How are you?" The hunter asked, settling on the spot beside Coco and flashing her a small smile. "I haven’t seen you around for the past couple of days. Are you okay?"
"Hello." Coco smiled at Yuuko, her heart swelling with gratitude at the woman’s worries. "I’m fine. I just decided to take a break because my husbands were worried about me. I didn’t want to worry them further, so I stayed home."
"Wow, what an understanding wife." Yuuko cooed, her lips twitching in amusement.
"Uhm, well, not really.. I don’t understand why they were worried, but I didn’t want them to look sad, so I just stayed." Coco quickly denied Yuuko’s claim and scratched her cheek sheepishly. "I would rather see my husbands smiling in relief, than frowning in worry, you know?"
The woman blinked, then raised an eyebrow at Coco. "Who knew that you would be such a devoted wife?"
The question was directed more at Yuuko than Coco, so Coco didn’t bother responding except for smiling politely and went back to scanning the mission board for any easy task she could take on today.
She can’t stay before dark because she made a plan to visit Jacques and introduce her to Cleora.
Just thinking about the reaction of her friend brought a sweet smile on Coco’s face, making Yuuko look at her with a puzzled look in her eyes.
Thankfully though, Coco had decided on taking a particular mission that only required her to bring back two monsters.
It doesn’t matter what kind of monster so I’ll just get whatever I stumble upon. Coco hummed to herself, turning in her heels to walk to the guild’s reception desk.
"Hold on, Coco." Yuuko called, her hand reaching out to grab the huntress by the wrist.
Coco stopped in her tracks and looked at Yuuko, her eyebrows pinched together in confusion. "Please, don’t think of touching me without my permission, or else, I’ll think of it as harassment which leaves me no choice, but to act out in self-defense."
After saying those words, Coco slowly pulled her wrist out of Yuuko’s grasp and cast another glance at her.
The older huntress flinched at the harsh and cold tone of her junior, but she didn’t say anything to disregard her words and opted into raising both hands in surrender.
"I’m sorry." Yuuko apologized, her voice laced with remorse. "It’s my fault for crossing a line."
"Just don’t do it again." Coco stated flatly, but her expression softened a little. "I don’t like it when people get too friendly with me and touch me without permission. Next time, just tell me what you want. It’s not like I won’t stop and listen."
Yuuko nodded, her lips curling into a small smile. "I understand. I won’t repeat the same mistake."
Coco hummed and turned away from her, but she stayed rooted in her spot. "What is it that you want to tell me? It sounded like it was urgent, especially with you grabbing me like that."
"Oh, right." Yuuko perked up and shifted her attention on the bag that was slung over her shoulder. "I heard that you like chocolate, so I got this for you."
Chocolate? Coco couldn’t stop herself from peeking over at Yuuko’s bag, her eyes twinkling with eagerness and curiosity. What could Yuuko possibly have in her bag? Is it exactly what she’s thinking?
Is it a chocolate spread? Coco thought, but her mind became blank when Yuuko thrusted something strange in her face.
"Here." The older woman cooed, a hopeful glint flickering in her eyes. "This one came from Amberwhich. It’s quite popular there, so I got one for you. You can think of it as a souvenir or something."
Coco’s lips parted as she accepted the strange object and stared at it. "What is this?"
"That’s a magical cube." Yuuko stated, as if such a thing is common around the main city. "It can store different kinds of food, but inside this cube right now is a chocolate. I melted the chocolate myself and poured everything inside."
"It’s not poisoned, right?" Coco blinked, shifting her attention to her fellow huntress.
"What?" Yuuko flashed Coco an incredulous look and was unable to hold her glare back. "Why would I put poison in the chocolate? That’s basically telling the food fairies that I don’t care about their efforts, and that alone is a sin."
"So it’s not poisoned." Coco huffed, her lips twitching in satisfaction. "Great, thank you so much for the souvenir."
"If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that you view me as an enemy." Yuuko mumbled to herself, her fingers massaging her temples. "But you were already like this when you joined the guild."
Coco didn’t pay attention to Yuuko’s words and instead, carefully hid the magical cube inside her bag before storing it in her secular inventory.
"I’ll make sure that I’ll enjoy this with my husbands." Coco smiled at Yuuko, her gratitude evident on the way she looked so excited as she said those words. "Since it’s from Amberwhich, then I can look forward to its sweetness, right?"
Yuuko laughed, nodding her head. "It’s a magical chocolate, so it depends on the water."
"A magical chocolate?" Coco’s jaw dropped, her eyes widening at the concept of a magical chocolate because she didn’t know that something like that could exist.
"Ah, you’ll get what I mean once you eat it with your husbands." Yuuko decided to brush it off with a wave of her hand. "Anyway, it’s best if I go now. I only wanted to give that to you so I dropped by. It was a good thing that I did it today."
Coco blinked and waved her goodbye. "Uh, yeah, sure— see you around."
"See you around!" Yuuko gave Coco a grin before she rushed out of the guild like she was running away from something.
Huh, weird..
