"Crap!"

โ€ŽAmandaโ€™s eyes widened slightly, staring at the three youths standing in front of her. ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐•–๐—ฒ๐˜„๐šŽ๐—ฏ๐•Ÿ๐จ๐•ง๐ž๐š•.๐•”๐• ๐ฆ

โ€ŽIn the days sheโ€™d spent in this mysterious dimens, ion sheโ€™d realized just how capable assassin-born could be.

โ€ŽEven though sheโ€™d wanted to deny it on several occasions, she had to admit that they were something else. And just when she thought that nothing they could do could surprise her anymore they did.

At first, she had only met Talia. But then a short while after that they ran into Lucian who turned out to be uneven bigger monster and just when things couldnโ€™t get any more unreal they had found Morgan.

โ€ŽMorgan, had single handedly taken the Bretnar king out of the air.

โ€ŽWhat sort of kid was supposed to be able to do that?! It was preposterous, it was insane.

โ€ŽAnd that was saying something, considering that her very existence was insane.

โ€ŽNot but seriously what even was that!

โ€ŽAnd to think that the Talented fought the Brotherhood of Shadows for centuries.

โ€ŽEach every oneyone of the scions was a monster to be reckoned with, even with superhuman powers.

โ€Ž,"Hey Amanda, snap out of it," Cassius roared.

โ€Ž" We need to take care of the small fry so they can focus on taking out that thing!"

โ€ŽSprinting past her, Samantha yelled, leaping into go the air.

โ€ŽIn one fluid motion, she twirled the spear into the air then violently slammed it down, smacking it into the head of a lunging Bretnar.

The slender spear instantaneously turned the unlucky Bretnarโ€™s head into a bloody mash.a

With casual twirl, Samantha flicked the blood of the spenonchalantlylant walking forward. She stopped in front of Amanda, staring at her briefly.

โ€Ž" Whose putting us in danger now..." she taunted.

In the next moment, she moved past her, deftly twirling the long spear and stabbing one of the incoming creatures.

โ€ŽAmanda smirked, turning away from the brunette.

โ€Ž" Donโ€™t get cocky now! You have seen anything yet!"

โ€ŽBut Samantha had already moved, sprinting deeper into the throng of moving creatures.

โ€ŽCassius was ahead of her, slamming bodily into the creatures and ripping them apart with his bare hands with chilling brutality.

โ€ŽEvery time the Bretnar would get off the ground and take to the air, Cassius would follow, leaping after the gigantic bat like creatures and shredding through their wings with membranous wings ease.

โ€ŽAround him, the Bretnarโ€™s bodies lay in piles, broken, mangled and horrifically brutalized.

โ€ŽSamsntha strained to keep up with him.

โ€ŽDespite the ensuing pandemonium, the world felt strangely peaceful.

โ€ŽIt was strange,, really.

โ€ŽThe Bretnar seemed to move in slow motion.

โ€ŽIn her hand the elegant dark spear felt surprisingly weightless, almost like an extension of her body.

And while she couldnโ€™t fully understand the sensation.

It was almost like sheโ€™d done this before.

โ€ŽThe spear hummed with a power that wasnโ€™t her own but somehow she was able to tell just when it was charged enough, to release a devastating bursts of obliterating force.

โ€ŽIn her vision, she knew just when and where to move. It was quite the surprising experience. As a matter of fact, sheโ€™d never quite experienced anything like it.

โ€Ž It was shocking, really.

โ€ŽSamantha and the spear were one. Where Samantha ended the spear began and where the spear ended there she began.

The two of them flowing and melding into a living, moving obliterating wraith of destruction.

โ€ŽUnknown to Samantha, her movements were becoming faster and faster.

โ€ŽHer decision-making in the heat of battle was becoming more precise, more accurate.

โ€ŽEach step flowing rhythmically into the other.

โ€ŽIn her mind, with each Bretnar that died, it felt like a piece of a puzzle was slowly falling into place.

โ€ŽSamsntha had experienced several life and death experiences in a short period of time, and her mind...her mind was adapting, getting rewired to survive in the unpredictable terrain of Tenebris.

Her mind was entering, delving into a state of battle clarity, state even seasoned warriors rarely entered, the hallowed state of flow.

โ€ŽSlowly but surely.

โ€ŽJust then, a Bretnar slammed into her with bone-jarring force, throwing her off her feet.

In the periphery of her vision, she noticed the movement, but her body reacted too late, failing to keep up with the incredible state of cognition of her mind.

Her eyes widened slightly in panic.

"I wonโ€™t be able to dodge in time!"

A massive surge of adrenaline coursed through her in a fight-or-flight response. With only seconds to spare, she braced herself, angling the spear between her and the charging Bretnar.

โ€ŽIn the next instant, she hit the ground, instinctively rolling away, while awkwardly clutching the spear along the length of her body.

โ€ŽBefore she could regain her bearings, the Bretnar was upon her, its mouth opening in a frenzied screech.

โ€ŽShe frantically raised the spear in front of herself, wedging it firmly in the creatureโ€™s jaws. She almost gagged from the smell of its rancid breath blowing across her face, its drool dripping down her face.

Just then, an icy spear ripped through the Bretnarโ€™s torso stopping a few centimetres away from her face.

โ€ŽThe Bretnar let out a startled, pained yelp, its eyes widening slightly on registering the object in its chest.

โ€ŽA split second later, a second icicle erupted through its eye, finishing the job.

โ€ŽWith a strained heave, Samantha pushed the creature off her chest, gasping heavily, then quickly staggering to her feet.

โ€Ž" Em!"

โ€Ž

โ€ŽThe putrid smell of Bretnar blood permeated the air suffocatingly.

โ€ŽTo her right, Emily was going fully on the offensive. Without having to play offense and defense, she was wreaking havoc on the battlefield.

โ€ŽEmilyโ€™s eyes glowed a vivid emerald in striking contrast to the stunning blue ice around her.

โ€ŽAll around her, azure icicles bloomed out of thin air, zipping through the air and striking the Bretnar with uncanny precision.

โ€ŽThe very same icicles revolved around her, forming both her offense and defense in a seemingly endless cycle.

โ€ŽWhenever a Bretnar managed to break through the defense, sheโ€™d simply โ€™skateโ€™ back on the ice, with almost practiced ease.

โ€Ž" What the hell, Em?"

โ€ŽSamantha stared at her in a daze for a brief moment, then quickly turned her attention back to the battlefield.

โ€ŽAmanda elbowed her, going back to back with her.

โ€Ž"Focus!"

โ€Ž

โ€ŽOn the other side of the battlefield, the three young assassins darted around the Bretnar king without stopping, taking turns as the bait and dealing damage.

โ€Ž" This thing is more intelligent than Iโ€™d suspected."

โ€ŽTalia had come to the realization when sheโ€™d tried to take out the Bretnar kingโ€™s eyes from a distance using her guns. The creature had shielded its eyes, then barreled across the ground in a mad dash.

โ€Ž"Itโ€™s almost like itโ€™s fought humans before...but how?!"

โ€ŽLucian and Morgan flanked the creature, moving in unison.

โ€Ž"Iโ€™ll go high, you go low," Morgan shouted.

โ€ŽA remnant of the draygharโ€™s power coursed through him, increasing his speed significantly by leaps and bounds. With his Awakened ability active, his perception of the world was significantly heightened.

โ€ŽThe Bretnar kingโ€™s claws whistled towards him with the promise of death, just barely missing his face by a hairโ€™s breadth.

โ€ŽPushing forward with the momentum of his run, Morgan slashed upward, aiming for the creatureโ€™s vulnerable joint.

โ€ŽA heartbeat later, he was falling to the ground in shock.

โ€ŽIn the next instant, Lucian hurtled through the door, slamming into him with concussive force.

โ€ŽThe two boys rolled, tumbling violently on the ground and skidding to a stop a few feet away.

โ€ŽLucian wheezed, then coughed violently, spitting out blood.

โ€Ž" Ahhhh... that hurts a lot..."

โ€ŽMorgan nodded, rolling into a kneeling position.

โ€ŽThe Blood Reaper sword glowed slightly, making down into identical blades.

โ€ŽMorgan grimaced at the sight, turning his attention back to the brutish beast.

โ€ŽCradling his ribs, he slowly got to his feet.

โ€ŽThe Bretnar king roared, beating its chest with an extra set of slime-covered hands that had mysteriously sprouted from its sides.

โ€ŽTalia shot at it repeatedly, buying time for the other two scions.

โ€Ž" Youโ€™ve got to be kidding me..."Lucian muttered, staring at the furred monstrosity in front of him.

โ€ŽNormal Bretnar had two pairs of arms. The first two were normally attached to their membranous wings, and two more.

โ€ŽBut in a cruel twist, the Bretnar king now had six arms, with five fully functional.

โ€ŽLucian came to a stop beside Morgan, staring at the abomination in repulsion.

โ€ŽHe winced, cradling his chest.

โ€Ž" I think that thing broke something."

โ€ŽLucian had received the brunt of the blow when an extra limb had suddenly sprouted, slamming into him.

โ€ŽHeโ€™d rolled with the blow, dissipating most of the force, but heโ€™d still taken considerable damage.

โ€ŽMorganโ€™s instinct had been sharper, which was why he was in better shape.

โ€ŽLucian was quietly muttering, staring at the massive creature with a pensive expression

โ€Ž"How the hell are we supposed to kill this thing now? Six arms, six arms!"

โ€ŽMorgan sighed, gripping the Blood Reaper blades.

โ€Ž" I guess weโ€™re about to find out."

โ€ŽThe Bretnar king charged forward with a roar, instantly closing the distance between it and the two young assassins with a leap.

โ€Ž" Damn!"

In the next moment, Lucian charged forward as well.
