Chapter 159: Void World wielder

‎The first thing Morgan felt was pain.

‎He weakly stirred on the ground, groaning slightly.

"What even was that..." he murmured weakly.

The creature had moved so fast he barely had any time to register its movement.

One moment he’d been stabbing, and the next he was flying through the air.

‎A sticky, warm liquid flowed down his face, clouding his vision. He groggily wiped it away, wincing in pain.

‎"Crap..."

‎He could tell that he wound on his forehead was already beginning to slowly close but that didn’t make the pain any less real.

‎" You’re slightly injured, but I think the damage isn’t anything to worry about..."

‎Morgan slowly got to his feet, his blurred vision quickly regaining clarity.

‎In front of him, the strange fog swirled ominously, constantly shifting in different directions in a ghostly breeze.

‎The fleeting sound of cackling and derisive mocking laughter floated through the visual mir,e reaching his ears.

‎He sucked in a breath, ignoring the bite of pain.

‎" Man, this sucks."

His options didn’t look good, but then again he didn’t have much if a choice in the matter.

Either way, he was essentially a sitting duck.

"Might as well go all in then..."

This was the first time he was facing an opponent that was not only far mor powerful than him but was also untouchable, literally.

‎Morgan turned inward, concentrating on the feeling of his connection with Sarenus.

‎The number of options he had in this situation was alarmingly abysmal.

‎Really, the most logical course of action was to flee.

‎It could even be argued that he was mad for deciding to venture out after Cassius.

‎And for all his efforts, the two of them could still end up dead, in gruesome fashion. But against all reason and logic, he wasprobably doing the most suicidal thing he’d ever done.

‎As Sarenus had said, ordinarily, the Void World Morgan wielded wouldn’t stand a chance against the influence of a fragment of the realm of a Lord.

Heck, he didn’t even think it was possible to exert it in Tenebris.

He barely had any grasp on the umbralis technique he’d obtained.

‎And the way things were going, the veliscera definitely had the edge in this downhill fight.

It was a truly frustrating situation, one that he’d found himself in several times over the course of his stay in Tenebris.

‎Morgan was outnumbered and in a sense outmatched, and on top of that, Cassius, his main target, was nowhere in sight.

‎To make things worse, even if he discovered the Talented, there was no guarantee that they’d be able to reach a shelter with a sigil in time.

Not that the veliscera would stand idly by and allow them to make their timely escape unscathed.

Frankly it was even a miracle they were alive and probably the only humans to grind Azaroth in a quite a while.

The dreadful city wasn’t really a tourist destination and he couldn’t imagine sny of the Great Houses taking it on as a stronghold.

Veliscera weren’t exactly the most hospitable of companions especially considering the fact that they clearly had a knack for dining on other inhabitants of a city.

‎So that left only one option, really, the only option.

‎Frankly, it was a little mad, trying to do what Sarenus was saying, unreasonable even, but in the time they’d spent in Tenebris, Morgan had done several unreasonable and even slightly questionable things

‎" I guess it’s all or nothing."

‎Turning inward, Morgan found himself standing in the familiar darkness of the Void World.

‎Vast dark plains stretched out into the distance before him.

‎In the next moment, a dark rift crackled into existence with a roar, splitting the space in front of him.

‎A large tenebrous form moved within the darkness within the rift, surging forward.

‎In the next moment, the figure shrank down, and a miniature Drayghar stepped out the rift, gracefully flapping it’s wings.

‎" Nicely done." Sarenus’ voice said, his voice echoing with a trace of power through the darkness.

Brilliant white flames ignited in the darkness, revealing the canine grin on Sarenus’s face.

" The first part is done. Now for this second part...listen carefully..."

Morgan was standing still in the middle of the fog when Lucian found him.

His eyes widened slightly at the sight of the motionless scion.

" Morgan? Morgan!"

Lucian frowned slightly, inching closer cautiously.

He could literally hear his heart pounding in his chest.

A rush of adrenaline coursed through him, setting every nerve in his body alight and sending his senses into overdrive.

He listened intently for even the slightest sound, watching closely for the tiniest of movements.

" What are the odds of this being in my head? And all this is an illusion..."

A short while later, the rest of the group joined him.

Talia stopped a short distance away, brandishing her blade warmly.

She nervously scanned their surroundings, gripping her blade tighter.

"Is that Morgan?"

" So you can see him too, huh..." Lucian muttered.

" What’s that supposed to mean?" Talia hissed.

Lucian rolled his eyes sarcastically, stepping closer to Morgan’s unmoving form.

" It means there’s a chance this isn’t just in my head if the rest of you can see it as well.

The dark-haired youth had no visible injuries.

" Why is he just standing there?"Emily muttered.

"I’m not sure. Do you think this is the veliscera’s doing?"

" We need to move..." Amanda stated in a matter of voice.

The group had stumbled around for a while in the fog, watching the veliscera’s eerie silhouettes elusively float through the veil of the mist from time to time.

Just then, the fog around them thickened.

"Do you feel that?" Lucian murmured.

"Everyone, around Morgan now! Stands around him, back to back."

"And what exactly are we supposed to be feeling, Samantha asked, eyeing the growing fog around them warily. She still held the elegant spear in her hand, holding it in front of herself.

In the next instant, a myriad of figures could be seen moving through the fog, their shapes becoming more and more discernible by the second.

"Any brilliant ideas, Lucian?"‎ Talia asked, her voice shaking slightly. Her face was slowly turning paler.

Lucian scoffed, gritting his teeth. His face darkened at the sight of the approaching figures.

"What do you think?"

For a split second, the fog receded and for a brief moment the brilliant blue snd emerald light of the twin moons shone through the fog.

A moment later in the eerie stillness that followed, a translucent figure stepped through the fog, standing a shortdistance away from the wary youths.

The temperature in their surroundings plummeted dramatically at the figure’s appearance.

The veil of the fog turned even thicker, suffocating.

Lucian shivered slightly, his eyes widening in shock.

" A woman..."

The woman’s hair was a beautiful white colour, he eyes gleaming with unnatural light in the darnscof the fog.

Her blood red lips were curked i to a gentle smile.

In that moment, Lucian felt his limbs grow sluggish.

"What is this..."

The blades in his hands suddenly felt several times heavier.

His eyelids felt like blocks

"What the hell is happening to me..."

Every breath burned his lungs. He gasped from the effort, staggering forward slightly.

" Am I hallucinating? Are you all seeing this?" Lucian asked weakly.

The other youths weren’t faring any better.

Talia weakly dropped to one knee , supporting herself weakly on the long blade in her hand.

Emily struggled, gritting her teeth in pain.

Her eyes flickered early with a pale light, her ability barely activating.

A single icicle formed, shooting through the air at the slowly approaching woman.

The icicle harmlessly passed through the woman’s translucent form disappearing into the Mist behind her.

"Oh dear...You poor things, "the woman spoke how melodic voice echoing, reverberating through their minds.

"I can see your pain I can tell how much you have suffered.

Amanda snarled, weakly sosrks of current flying from the tips of her fingers tips.

Behind her, another beautiful woman appeared, slipping her arms around her neck.

She struggled violently, screaming frantically, then went silent in the moment.

" Rest well, now you poor thing. You’ll soon be home child. Homw with me...Everett you belong..."

The woman sensuously strode forward, the youths’ energy fading with every step that she took forward.

"It’s all right. Everything is going to be fine now. You don’t have to suffer anymore."

She came to a stop in front of Lucian.

"You can rest now...you clearly look like you need it, child, she said gently caressing his face. "

Lucian fell to one knee, willing himself to move. Sadly his limbs stubbornly refused to obey him, almost like they were a part of someone else.

Gritting his teeth,he stared murderously at the veliscera.

" is this how they truly look like? He thought.

His mind worked feverishly looking at all possible opportunities to escape his current predicament.

He weakly turned his gear staring at Morgan’s motionless figure.

" Was this all a trap from the very start?"

Even the umbralis around him felt like it’s was rejecting him.

Amanda wa down for the count.

The other three girls were slowly approaching the same fate.

Lucian smiled weakly turning back to the horrifically stunning creature in front of him

" We’re all going to die here huh... " he thought grimly.

" How poetic..."
