Nightblade (Darkest night)-Chapter 192: An Act of Mercy
The girl, Keila, took them to a nearby building then ascended the stairs.
The inside of the building was surprisingly sophisticated.
The floor and ceiling were covered in thick white tiles that meticulously arranged into a peculiar pattern.
A large fountain of flowing water stood at the centre of the room.
Giant sculptures were molded into the length of the walls, their figures embedded into the massive structure.
Keila led them deeper into the building, entering one of the deserted chambers
An unconscious figure lay sprawled at the centre of the hall.
" Sammie"
Emily rushed forward kneeling at her side. She quickly examined her for any visible injuries, concern flashing in her eyes.
A small trickle dried blood ran down the side of her head.
The temperature in the room plummeted drastically, layers of frost creeping across the walls.
" What did you do to her?" Emily asked quietly.
She turned staring at Keila menacingly.
Her green eyes ignited simultaneously the ghostly green glow.
Keila laughed nervously inching back a few steps but Lucian roughly shoved her forward.
" Answer her question."
A river of ice slithered across the floor in serpentine fashion creeping up the Talented’s legs and effectively locking her in place.
Kelia raised her hands with a gasp.
" Wait, we didn’t mean her harm, we just wanted to take her out of the fight."
Glistening ethereal jagged icicles bloomed from the surface of the ice slowly inching towards her vital spots.
"Please, I’m serious. We just caught her off guard and knocked her out from afar.
Emily glared at her for a few moments then let out a weary sigh.
Lucian walked forward gently grasping the unconscious girl in his arms.
" Where are you planning on taking her? Talia asked curiously.
" Away from here," Lucian muttered.
" Well, I’d think in her state it’d be much better if she stayed here, for the mean time.
Emily can stay with her. It should be the safest place here."
Talia walked over to where he stood.
" Let’s leave her here for the time being. Take this one with us," she said pointing at Keila.
" And regroup with Morgan and Cassius."
Lucian hesitated for a brief moment then obliged.
"Very well then. Emily, I trust you’ve got everything under control here?"
Emily gave him a curt nod, then threw an icy glare at the nervous Talented.
" Why are you still smiling?"
Keila smiled nervously, her lips twitching slightly
" I guess I can’t help it."
Lucian and Talia marched her off, stepping back out into the street.
Morgan and Anthony were still in the middle of the street.
Morgan observed Anthony for a few moments while quietly pondering just how he was able to drag him into his Void World.
The Talented boy was undoubtedly in Morgan’s Void World.
Kazarax toyed with the Talented, bending his mind in several different ways.
At first, the Talented resisted valiantly, at times even employing his own mental defences against the psychic onslaught.
But Kazarax was too overbearing, too powerful and too ancient.
And eventually the Talented broke.
Anthony screamed and writhed and begged
He let out a sigh, releasing the sobbing boy from his grasp.
" And yet....my Lord spares your miserable disappointment of a life."
Kazarax twitched cocking his head slightly.
"Ironic isn’t it?"
While you’re an annoying brat, and verily deserving of your fate, he has ordered me to spare you."
Consider it an act of mercy.
Anthony slowly looked up at his terrifying captor with tearful eyes
" Of course, there is one small condition. One that took some convincing to get him to allow me but he agreed in the end."
A predatory grin appeared on Kazarax’s face at the hopeful light in his eyes.
Morgan stared at the sobbing boy then turned striding a short distance away.
Yielding to his will, the sandy plains surged, moving forward.
The sand coalesced into an inky dark throne, on which he sat.
Anthony stared at the dark figure before him in bewilderment and fear.
The being in front of him stared at him impassively, the white flames where it’s eyes should have been regarding him with a bored gaze.
Morgan casually rested his chin in a fist leaning back slightly.
Anthony remained frozen in place staring at him in shock.
" Just who are you?"
Kazarax materialized behind the throne his massive form standing guard behind Morgan.
The large Void Walker grinned, clasping it’s hands behind it’s backs, immolating white flames flickering in the depths of it’s maw.
Morgan sighed.
" I’m not entirely sure myself."
He fixed Anthony with his gaze.
In the next moment, the ground on which Anthony stood surged forward bringing him to where Morgan stood.
" What did you do to her, Anthony?"
Anthony shivered slightly. His gaze drifted to the massive figure in behind the tenebrous throne.
" I trapped her consciousness within her mind."
Morgan silently stared at him for a few moments.
After a while he spoke.
"Can you undo it?"
Anthony seemed hesitant for a few moments then eventually nodded.
" If I do this, will you let me live? I’m tired, of this...this nightmare..."
" Very well. Kazarax, let him go."
The tenebrous giant bowed deeply then snapped his fingers.
In the next moment, several golden shackles materialized into existence then shattered.
Antjony gasped taking a step back.
It felt like a massive weight has been lifted off his chest.
He resisted the impulse to bow letting out a sigh of relief.
In the next second, his eyes snapped open faxing at he Works in front of him.
Morgan slowly rose, staring at him with interest.
Anthony rolled onto his side then walked over to where Amanda lay unconscious.
In the next moment, his eyes glowed an ethereal blue.
Amanda groaned slightly then shuddered.
She let out a terrifed scream then gasped staring at Anthony’s figure in front of her.
She instinctively activated her ability, sending a stream of electricity hurtling through the air.
Sarenus moved intercepting the current of electricity with his his blade.
The deflected bolts streaked into the sky exploding into chain lightning that crackled violently through the sky.
"Amanda, that’s enough."
She slowly turned staring at Morgan in disbelief.
He smiled faintly.
" It’s alright. It’s all over."
