Nine Revolutions Star Transformation-Chapter 649 - 668: Journey to the Thunder Pool (2)
"Golden Dragon, this Gale Eagle is different from the Flame Wolf. If I encountered him, I would have to retreat. You need to be careful," the Barbaric Earth Dragon said to Chu Linfeng.
"So the Gale Eagle is already at the Eighth Level of the Saint Martial Realm? Or is it because he is inherently your natural enemy, hence you're very afraid of him?" Chu Linfeng asked.
"The Gale Eagle should be considered one of the most formidable Fierce Beasts in the Divine Battlefield. His strength is extremely powerful, especially his speed, which is indescribably fast, and his attack power is incredibly fierce. If his thunder strikes your body, it's quite an unpleasant experience," the Barbaric Earth Dragon said, clearly recalling past losses to the Gale Eagle.
The Gale Eagle's speed is indeed troublesome. Previously, Chu Linfeng might have found it challenging, but now he has no worries about this Gale Eagle at all because he possesses the Wind Stabilizing Pearl, whose Artifact Spirit can immobilize him, allowing for any torment desired.
"No worries, it's just speed. I naturally have a way to handle him. If you suffer any grievances from him, you can return them in full. Rest assured with me around!" Chu Linfeng confidently said to the Barbaric Earth Dragon.
The Barbaric Earth Dragon believed Chu Linfeng implicitly. After all those incidents, he already regarded Chu Linfeng as a true peerless expert with unfathomable attack power and speed.
The two flew continuously toward the Thunder Pool direction. Along the way, various sceneries unfolded before them. The Artifact Spirit was utterly astonished by the view, continuously asking Chu Linfeng questions, which he diligently answered, not daring to offend the little fellow, as he needed her help to deal with the Gale Eagle.
They arrived at the location mentioned by the Barbaric Earth Dragon at dusk. It was a vast valley, filled with towering trees similar to the Magic Beast Forest in the Canglan Ancient Land, where one couldn't see the sky upon entering.
Of course, even flying in the air, Chu Linfeng and his companion couldn't clearly see the things below. "Golden Dragon, let's find a place to recuperate. It's already dark, and dealing with the Gale Eagle is better done during the day. Since we're unfamiliar with this place, if he escapes, finding him again will be exceedingly difficult," the Barbaric Earth Dragon suggested.
Chu Linfeng thought the Barbaric Earth Dragon made sense. After surveying the surroundings, he noticed a natural cave by a cliff not far away. He then said, "We'll rest in that cave for tonight, and tomorrow we'll settle the score with the Gale Eagle."
Upon reaching the cave entrance, Chu Linfeng realized the cave didn't seem entirely natural, as there were marks of tools at the entrance. Although time had covered them with moss, his sharp eyes easily discerned them.
Chu Linfeng didn't enter the cave directly but used his Divine Sense to inspect it first. If it turned out to be a Magical Beast's lair, that would be troublesome. He wasn't afraid of the Magical Beast inside, but he worried it might alert the Gale Eagle, making him even harder to find.
Upon inspection, there were no Magical Beasts inside, so he entered. The cave wasn't very deep, about ten meters long, but inside it was spacious. Chu Linfeng discovered stone tables and stools and some pottery, indicating someone had lived here before.
"Could this be left by people who entered the Divine Battlefield back then? If so, where are they now? Why did they choose to reside near the Thunder Pool, and what was their purpose?" Many questions flashed through Chu Linfeng's mind.
Suddenly, he thought of the Demon Lord, who perhaps could answer his confusion. So he immediately infused his Divine Sense into the Storage Ring and began communicating with the Demon Lord.
"Demon Lord, were there humans left behind in the Divine Battlefield back then? Why are these things here? Do you know the details?" Chu Linfeng asked.
"You've asked the right person. Few know about this. Even Qingshuang might not be aware. During the great Divine War, many experts from Hidden Sects participated, and a few who were severely injured stayed behind.
The Divine Battlefield was rich in Star Stones, making cultivation easy. If they hadn't left then, they might have become super strong by now. If you encounter them, try to avoid them. These individuals could have reached even the Eighth or Ninth Layer of the Saint Martial Realm," the Demon Lord replied.
This made Chu Linfeng uneasy. If he truly encountered masters of the Ninth Layer of the Saint Martial Realm, he wasn't sure if he could escape unscathed, as he couldn't rely solely on his defense power against their attacks.
"I think these people are probably dead. If not, they would have left the Divine Battlefield long ago. No such peerless masters have appeared in the Canglan Ancient Land. Anyone staying in this dull environment for thousands of years might go insane. I don't believe your claim, Demon Lord," Chu Linfeng said.
"There are no absolutes. If a peerless expert is trapped in an absolute predicament with no way out, do you think they still stand a chance of returning to the Canglan Ancient Land? It's good to have a bit of foresight. One can't be too cautious," the Demon Lord warned.
Chu Linfeng found sense in the Demon Lord's words, so he scrutinized the cave once again, ensuring no one had been around for years, even centuries, before letting go of his worries.
He then sat at a stone table, closed his eyes to rest, and waited for dawn while the Barbaric Earth Dragon quietly sat on the ground, also closing his eyes to rest.
The night passed without words. The next day, early in the morning, Chu Linfeng and his companion left the cave. "Earth Dragon, go check if the Gale Eagle is in the woods. Be careful, I'll wait here for you."
"Rest assured, Golden Dragon. I can find him soon. You just prepare to slay him," the Barbaric Earth Dragon said and vanished before Chu Linfeng.
Chu Linfeng didn't idle and slowly unfolded his Divine Sense, constantly mindful of what the Demon Lord said, deploying his sense cautiously to prevent unforeseen situations.
After a while, the Barbaric Earth Dragon returned, visibly shocked, and said to Chu Linfeng, "Golden Dragon, that creature is on a big tree now, not sure whether nesting or what. I released a black fireball and quickly left. I believe he will soon be coming after us."
"Nesting? Is this creature male or female? Where did its mate come from? Could it just breed with any Flying Magical Beast?" Chu Linfeng wondered.
At that moment, piercing bird cries echoed from afar, followed by a gigantic bird shining with golden light appearing tens of meters away from the two... (Happy Lantern Festival!)
