Chapter 424: Chapter 422: The Person Really Left [Second Update]

Maya Spencer saw Christopher Scott coming in, lazily leaning against Liam Spencer and shook her head, exasperated: "Fifth Master Scott, you’ve come too late, Seven went to work."

Christopher Scott, unfazed by Maya’s report, scratched his head, defending himself: "Who said I’m here to see her? I’m just here to see my sweetheart, you."

Though Christopher denied it, his darting eyes betrayed him. Those eyes were searching all around — what’s he looking for if not someone?

After he scanned the ballroom, he still couldn’t catch a glimpse of Seven’s figure. He pondered if that woman hadn’t returned at all, and if everyone was just toying with him, deceiving his feelings?

Unable to spot Seven, Christopher started to doubt that she had returned.

On the sofa, Maya Spencer nestled like a boneless snake in Liam’s embrace, playing with his fingers, but her gaze remained fixed on Christopher. Seeing his tense demeanor, she couldn’t help but giggle, and even Liam Spencer let out a mocking chuckle, teasing Christopher’s timidness.

Moments later, Christopher’s gaze finally returned to Maya.

Seeing this, Maya remarked mischievously: "Fifth Master Scott, she’s really gone."

"Sweetheart, you’re getting more wicked, tricking me along with everyone else," Christopher still doubted Seven Murray had returned.

Maya watched Christopher’s anxious, restless demeanor and didn’t bother to argue. She casually took back her phone from Liam and flipped through it a few times, then handed it to Christopher, asking: "Is this the person you’re looking for—Seven Murray?"

Breath held, Christopher looked at the girl in the photo with Maya. Yes, the girl in Maya’s phone was indeed Seven Murray, no mistake about it — the woman had finally returned.

Over the years, Christopher had secretly looked at pictures of Seven often, but seeing Seven in a photo with Maya stirred him inexplicably, leaving him breathless with excitement. Fortunately, Seven wasn’t there at the moment, otherwise he’d be terribly embarrassed — he never intended for Seven to notice his nervousness around her.

She had been gone for 7 years, and Christopher still felt dissatisfied, thinking she was too heartless, making forgiveness difficult — little did he know she didn’t care at all for his forgiveness.

Maya noticed Christopher’s dazed expression and kicked him lightly with her foot to remind him: "Christopher, Seven has returned, so you better stop calling me ’sweetheart’ lest she gets jealous."

Back when Christopher called Maya ’sweetheart’, Liam had quietly felt jealous too! But then, since their relationship wasn’t clear at that time, he couldn’t really ask Christopher to change his nickname. Gradually, he just got used to it.

Hearing Maya’s reminder, Christopher casually raised his eyebrows, saying: "Why should I care about her feelings? I’m not that familiar with her."

Now that Seven Murray had returned, Christopher started pretending, acting indifferent, while internally he was dying of nerves. Hearing that Seven left hurriedly because of work, he couldn’t help worrying, wanting to know what had happened to her yet felt embarrassed to call her directly.

Seated on the sofa, Liam Spencer had his arms wrapped around Maya’s waist, silently observing Christopher’s bravado. Watching his stubborn front, Liam suddenly said: "Christopher, cherish what’s before you; don’t ruin yourself."

These were Liam’s heartfelt words — he was experienced and somewhat of an expert concerning women, having achieved success in that regard. Given how obstinate Seven Murray could be, they’d all learned in school back then. If Christopher didn’t lower himself to plead with her, she would certainly run off with someone else.

"Third Brother, what was the cause of Seven and Christopher’s feud all these years — 7 years, I can hardly imagine," Maya mused as she spoke, utterly forgetting about her own escape.

"Little gossip, are you hungry?" Liam sidestepped the issue, unwilling to discuss other people’s affairs.

"Starving, will you get me something?"

Liam observed the girl’s charming demeanor, pecked her lips gently, and responded tenderly: "Alright."

...

Meanwhile, the taxi carrying Seven Murray had already stopped at the entrance of the studio. She paid the fare quickly and got out in a hurry.

Just thinking about that model who had taken the money, yet acted like a diva and didn’t cooperate, made her furious, wishing she could break the model’s legs so she’d never walk a runway again. But now she’s a civilized person and has to handle matters with civility, not like when she was in school, capriciously.

Thus, she took a deep breath to calm herself and made her way into the studio.

At this moment, a short-haired girl hurriedly emerged to meet her, grabbing Seven’s arm to stop her from entering.

Seeing the girl’s flustered expression, Seven frowned and asked: "Ella, what’s the situation inside?"

"Seven, better wait a bit before going in!"

The girl didn’t reveal that Gigi Harding was inside throwing a tantrum, not only tarnishing the ToGigi brand but also tearing up the sample outfits for the shoot, claiming she wouldn’t wear such cheap goods.

For Seven, these clothes and accessories meant everything — ToGigi was her all. How could she allow anyone to trash her work like this? That’s why the girl held her back, hoping other colleagues would tidy up the scene a bit before letting Seven in, to prevent her from impulsively lashing out.

Indeed, Seven was capable of such actions. However, considering the brand hadn’t been promoted widely yet and lacked recognition, if the founder caused a scene, the road ahead could be more difficult.

Looking at Ella’s tense, fearful expression, Seven brushed her aside swiftly and made her way into the studio by herself.

Seeing Seven’s resolve, the girl grabbed her arm again and asked, "Seven, why did you come barefoot?"

"What’s happening inside?" Seven’s suspicions were heightened by Ella’s reluctance to let her in.

Observing Seven’s stern look, the girl carefully suggested: "It’s a bit chaotic."

Ella’s timid expression made Seven all the more certain the situation was beyond just a bit chaotic — something must have occurred that would infuriate her greatly.

Seven was never someone to shy away from confrontation since she was young; she always faced provocations head-on.

So, she took another deep breath, once more shook off Ella’s grip, and headed toward the photography studio.

Inside, Seven’s clothes, bags, and shoes were strewn everywhere, some even torn to shreds.

Standing at the doorway, watching her efforts trashed as rubbish, Seven’s breath hitched, hands clenched tightly, eyes fixed on the celebrity model seated with her legs crossed, back to her.

Then, she heard the model’s disdainful mockery: "And you think these cheap goods could be an international brand? I wouldn’t wear them even if you gifted them to me, and you expect me to endorse them? Trying to ride on my fame, have some shame! Just because my agent signed the contract, don’t think I fear you. I wasn’t aware of this gig beforehand — I won’t accept it."
