No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 477 - 475: Quite Clever [7th update]
"Mmm... mmm..." Maya took a deep breath and let out two strained groans, attempting to communicate to her captor that she had regained consciousness.
Maya recalled the earlier events; all she knew was that she had been ambushed at the bathroom entrance, and what followed was a complete blank.
Just as she let out the two calls, the pitch-black surroundings immediately lit up.
It was then that Maya realized she was in an abandoned warehouse, about 15 meters high, and about 800 square meters in area, filled with many discarded oil drums and lots of expired, illegal drugs.
She glanced around but saw no sign of the kidnapper.
"Mmm... mmm..." She called out again, indicating for the other party to come out from hiding so they could talk things over clearly.
Suddenly, a shadow was cast in front of her from behind.
Maya turned her head, trying to see what this person looked like, whether they were someone she knew, and why they had kidnapped her.
But just as she turned her head, the person pulled her hair hard, dragging her head to hang behind the chair, and said impatiently, "If you want to live, be obedient."
Maya, head raised, looked at the man in an upside-down view, seeing he was dressed in black, wearing a black hat and black mask, making it impossible to discern his features.
Listening to the man’s reprimands, Maya’s eyes were steadfastly fixated on him, without anger or fear, remaining calm as if conveying that she wanted to talk with him.
The man, seeing Maya’s calm gaze, ordered viciously, "If you dare make any noise, I will make your death very unpleasant."
After speaking, he let go of the large hand gripping Maya’s hair.
Maya sat upright, her mind racing, as she kept recalling, searching for anyone she might have offended enough for them to go to such lengths to kidnap her.
But besides Elia, did she have any other enemies? Elia was now locked in a mental institution, so it was impossible for her to exact revenge. Even if it was Hannah’s doing, she wouldn’t make it this easy; she would have had someone repeatedly torment her by now.
She really couldn’t come up with any other enemies who would kidnap her.
When the black-clothed man approached Maya, she stared straight into his eyes with even breathing, seemingly trying to win his trust.
The man also stared intently at Maya, only extending his right hand to peel the tape from her mouth once he was sure she wouldn’t scream.
When the tape was removed, Maya didn’t utter any calls for help. She merely looked at the man calmly, as if waiting for him to speak first.
However, the situation was at an impasse, and the man did not speak first.
After a while, Maya spoke up first.
She said, "Covering yourself up so thoroughly, and even using a voice changer to talk to me, we must know each other, right."
"Pretty smart." The man did not deny it.
Seeing he didn’t deny it, Maya took a long breath and smiled nonchalantly, thinking, it really must be a familiar face committing the crime, but for the life of her, she couldn’t figure out which acquaintance would kidnap her.
But one thing was certain: it wasn’t for money.
So, she said, "You obviously know my background, yet you dare to kidnap me. Looks like you’re not planning on keeping your life, so it’s definitely not for wealth, but I don’t understand, by kidnapping me, what could you possibly gain besides money? Are you willing to trade your life for mine? Are our grudges really that deep?"
At this point, Maya was very clear-headed. She knew if they didn’t kill her, there must be something they wanted her to do, or have Liam do, otherwise she wouldn’t still be alive.
The man listened to Maya’s analysis and couldn’t help but laugh, his laughter chilling and frightening, but Maya remained unfazed, merely staring at him nonchalantly, waiting for him to reveal his identity and the purpose of capturing her.
Maya’s composure unsettled the kidnapper. He coldly chuckled, "You indeed have a sharp mind; no wonder you managed to put the master behind bars."
"Assistant River?" As soon as the man finished speaking, Maya immediately guessed who he was.
Arthur River, Aron Hanson’s assistant, had been with Aron for seven or eight years. Aron once spent money to treat his wife’s illness, so to him, Aron was like a second parent. For Aron’s sake, he would not hesitate to give up his life.
At the same time, just from his one sentence, Maya deduced that someone had instigated a misunderstanding in front of him, making him so enraged that he kidnapped her.
The instigator was not difficult to guess; Maya could easily tell it was Sister Jane Spencer, no one else.
Maya couldn’t fathom why Sister Jane Spencer would still be stirring trouble; shouldn’t she be busy transferring her uncle’s shares at this time? Why would she make a move on her now?
For a moment, Maya was confused.
But she quickly came back to her senses, suddenly recalling she still had 30% of the Hanson Clan Group’s shares, a bequest from her grandfather; could Sister Jane Spencer be using Assistant River to kill two birds with one stone, trying to swallow her shares?
Maya thought Jane was completely crazy now, even more deserving of a mental institution than Elia.
Seeing Maya had guessed his identity, the man no longer hid, removing his hat and mask.
Maya’s guess was spot on; as expected, it was Aron Hanson’s confidant, Arthur River.
After removing the mask, he casually threw it to the ground, slowly approached Maya, then crouched in front of her, extending his right hand to pinch her cheeks tightly, asking, "Why? Why did you frame the master?"
When questioning her, his eyes seemed eager to devour her.
Listening to the man’s queries, Maya took a deep breath and calmly said, "Sister Jane Spencer told you, didn’t she! I didn’t frame uncle; he didn’t kill anyone. They are just checking the evidence now."
"You’ve been checking for a week, yet you haven’t found anything. The master didn’t order those two people to hit Ethan Turner; why did you send him to jail?"
"I didn’t, I also want uncle to be alright."
"Slap" No sooner had Maya finished speaking, then a stinging slap landed on her face, leaving her dazed, her ears ringing, and her vision swimming with stars.
At this moment, she wished she could tear Jane to pieces for whatever malicious gossip she had spread to incite the hatred Arthur River held for her.
Previously, Arthur had treated her with respect, and wouldn’t have raised a hand against her unless completely enraged.
Maya recovered a bit, blinked her large eyes, and shook her head, saying, "You didn’t kidnap me to target me, did you! If you have something you want to ask, just ask. I will answer truthfully, but if you lay another hand on me, I can’t guarantee I’ll comply with your wishes. After all, you know I’m not exactly well."
Hearing Maya’s threat, the man ground his teeth in anger, yet Maya’s depression, and her history of a suicide attempt, was something he knew all too well.
