Chapter 513: Chapter 511 Can Learn [3rd Update]

He was afraid of waking Maya Spencer, so he immediately covered his mouth, coughed lightly twice, and then carefully opened the bedroom sliding door to check if Maya had been disturbed.

Once he confirmed that Maya was still asleep, Liam Spencer closed the sliding door again and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, continuing to smoke.

He clearly wasn’t used to the taste of cigarettes, finding it harsh and spicy, yet he still smoked. Because this harsh feeling could bring a slight fluctuation to his emotions, and the discomfort in his body could give his mind a moment of rest.

However, after a moment, he still thought of Charlotte Owen’s confession and that DNA report.

At the thought of this, Liam furrowed his brows tightly and took a fierce drag on the cigarette to vent his displeasure.

"Cough cough cough," he choked on the smoke as a result.

"Third Brother, are you smoking?" Suddenly, Maya Spencer came out of the bedroom barefoot.

She was stunned when she saw Liam smoking because it was the first time.

In front of the floor-to-ceiling window, Liam quickly turned around when he saw Maya approaching, extinguished the cigarette, and threw it into the trash can beside the desk, hastily explaining, "I’m hungry, so I’m having a couple of smokes to fill my stomach."

"Pfft..." Maya couldn’t help but laugh at Liam’s excuse.

After laughing, her heart ached intermittently because she knew Liam felt suffocated and troubled but didn’t want to express it.

Since Liam didn’t want to talk, Maya didn’t press him further, not wanting to make it difficult for him.

He said he was hungry, so she pretended to believe him. Smiling, she approached Liam, stood on tiptoes, cupping his face in her hands, and said playfully, "Third Brother is hungry. How about I cook something for you?"

Liam eyed the girl’s sweet smile, furrowing his brows, and asked with suspicion, "Do you know how?"

"No, but I can learn!" Maya said, then turned back into the bedroom, put on her shoes, and pulled Liam to the kitchen on the first floor.

She found a steak in the fridge and decided to pan-fry it for Liam, although it was already 1 AM, not the best time for steak.

In front of the cooking platform, Maya tied a cartoon apron around her waist, held a phone in her left hand, and an oil bottle in her right. She poured some oil into the warm pan, then tossed the marinated steak into the pan, cooking it slowly over low heat.

Liam leaned against the kitchen counter, watching the girl learn and improvise on the spot, and couldn’t help but curl his lips into a heartwarming smile, feeling more and more like they were an old married couple.

As he watched the girl’s serious back, he unconsciously took a step forward, stood behind her, wrapped his arms around her waist, and gently complimented her with his lips close to her ear, "Maya is becoming more and more mature."

"That’s right." Maya tried to act cheerful, aiming to lighten the atmosphere and lift Liam’s spirits.

Liam kissed her cheek and said, "Smells good."

"Mm! Next, we put it in the oven for a bit."

"Maya, Third Brother really likes you."

Maya listened to his confession, turned her head slightly, left a light kiss on his lips, and sweetly said, "Third Brother, Maya really likes you too."

Seeing Maya’s bright smile and hearing her gentle voice instantly lifted Liam’s spirits, so he tilted her chin up and kissed her deeply.

To accommodate Liam, Maya didn’t push him away. While kissing him, she kept an eye on the steak in the pan, flipping it back and forth with a spatula in her right hand.

"Pfft..." Liam was amused by her divided attention and released her so she could focus on cooking the steak.

Noticing Liam’s helpless smile at the corner of his mouth, Maya threw him a playful wink and said, "Feed your stomach first, then feed your tiny little desires."

"You little thing, you’re becoming more and more shameless, naughtier by the day." Liam pinched her nose, sweetly chiding her.

"So does Third Brother like it?"

"I like it, I like it very much." Liam’s mood improved significantly.

At this point, Maya had placed the steak into the oven for roasting.

A moment later, the delightful aroma of a visually appealing steak appeared before Liam.

Although it was Maya’s first attempt at cooking, the texture of the steak revealed her hidden talent, showing she would make a good wife.

"Maya, it seems Third Brother didn’t misjudge you after all." Liam raised his thumb in praise of someone.

"Of course, a woman like me who is capable in the living room, handy in the kitchen, and adept in the bedroom is definitely a catch." Someone started boasting.

"Pfft..." Liam simply loved her shameless demeanor, finding it utterly endearing.

Seeing that Liam finally laughed, Maya sighed in relief, immediately sitting next to him, smiling brightly, and said, "Third Brother, try the taste, it should be pretty good."

Liam immediately sliced a small piece of steak and put it in his mouth, his expression brightening as he once again gave someone a thumbs-up.

He then cut another small piece and fed it to Maya.

Tasting her own pan-fried steak, Maya was almost moved to tears, feeling she was truly talented.

So, the two of them took turns feeding each other until they finished the decently-sized steak.

Afterward, they sat at the table drinking juice, relishing their delightful nightlife.

Just then, Liam suddenly raised his head, looked directly at Maya, and said indifferently, "Maya, I am Aunt Charlotte and Second Uncle’s son."

"Pfft..." Maya was so shocked that she spat out a mouthful of orange juice, followed by a fit of coughing.

Liam quickly patted her back.

A moment later, Maya furrowed her brows tightly, turned to Liam, and asked, "Third Brother, you’re not joking with me, are you?"

"Do I look like I’m joking?" Liam replied seriously, questioning in return.

Maya shook her head vigorously and no longer doubted him. She thought to herself, no wonder Liam had been so despondent today, even giving her the illusion that his feelings for Sister Jane Spencer were too deep, leaving him worried about her. It turned out that there was not only this issue but also his identity problem.

Now, Maya understood why Liam and Noah Owen happened to be born on the same day—the two children had been switched.

Regarding the Spencer Family’s relationships, Maya’s entire worldview was utterly turned upside down, including her own identity. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Recalling the time she learned that Old Master Spencer wasn’t her father, and seeing Liam’s calm demeanor now, Maya couldn’t help but feel even more respect for Liam.

She took a deep breath, grabbed Liam’s big and small hands, and consoled, "Third Brother, this doesn’t have anything to do with you. You don’t need to feel it’s hard to face them. The ones who should feel ashamed are them."

Maya could somewhat empathize with Liam at this moment, having gone through a similar experience herself.
