However, Liam knew that Elijah would definitely come. Despite being slow with feelings, he wouldn’t need to hide from Ella like this. He must have been delayed by something important.
When they returned to the boarding hall, they saw Ella still craning her neck, constantly looking toward the entrance. She was still waiting for Elijah, still hoping for a farewell.
Yet, amidst the bustling crowd in the hall, that familiar figure was nowhere to be seen.
Seeing Liam and Maya return, Ella immediately withdrew her expectant gaze and smiled, saying, "Maya, I’m about to board. You and the principal take care; I’m waiting for your wedding, make it happen soon."
Ella hoped that by the time Maya and Liam married, she would have let go of Elijah, and hoped that by then, Elijah wouldn’t avoid her anymore.
Maya looked at Ella’s awkward expression, took a deep breath, turned her head, and glanced towards the entrance, still not seeing Elijah’s figure.
Then, Maya forced a smile and explained, "Elijah might be busy."
"It’s okay; after all, we’re not that close. You and the principal coming to see me off makes me really happy." Ella’s smile was barely convincing.
Maya felt a pang hearing Ella’s forced smile and immediately opened her arms to gently hug her, providing a bit of warmth.
"Maya, take good care of yourself. I’ll be your bridesmaid at your wedding," Ella promised.
"Mm, you too, take care of yourself," Maya patted her back, comforting her.
At that moment, both of their eyes were red.
After the hug, Ella wiped her tears, forcing a smile, and looked at Liam, instructing, "Principal, take good care of Maya."
"I know," Liam replied without any expression, as he didn’t need anyone to tell him; he would naturally treat Maya well.
After a round of instructions between the two girls, Ella waved her little hand and walked towards the boarding gate.
Though she kept smiling, her eyes remained red; she felt like dying from sadness. Elijah was heartless not to see her off one last time. She wondered just how much Elijah disliked her to not want to see her one last time.
If Liam and Maya weren’t there, Ella would have burst into tears. She held back for fear Maya would worry about her, so she didn’t cry.
In the boarding line, standing among the crowd, though Ella desperately wanted to control her tears, they still overflowed from her eyes, with even a hint of resentment towards Elijah for being so heartless.
"Ella!" Just as Ella was about to board, a familiar voice from Elijah suddenly reached her ears.
For a moment, Ella thought she was hallucinating from missing Elijah too much.
"Ella, Elijah is here." However, when Maya excitedly called her, Ella turned her head and looked towards the not-so-distant future.
Instantly, Ella burst into tears. She hadn’t seen Elijah for a week, and now seeing him suddenly appear, appearing in the airport boarding hall to see her off, her emotions were out of control, tears falling "plop plop."
She raised her right hand, wiped her tears with her sleeve, and beamed a brilliant smile at Elijah.
At this moment, her smile was no longer forced, no longer helpless, but instead was genuinely radiant and happy.
However, she did not run to Elijah but waved her little hand at him, signaling goodbye.

After being pulled out, Ella looked up, smiling, and said, "Elijah, thank you for coming to see me off."

Elijah looked at the girl’s politeness, his face turning red. He immediately grasped her arm, staring straight into her eyes, earnestly saying, "No, you weren’t a bother."
Ella glanced at Elijah’s serious demeanor, took a deep breath, and smiled, "Mm! Until we meet again, I’m leaving now."
After saying this, Ella turned to look behind her, seeing fellow passengers from the same flight already entering the secure passage, starting to board.
Elijah watched the girl’s red, swollen eyes and saw the radiant smile at her lips; he felt guilty.
Elijah knew he had made Ella sad, causing her to cry until her eyes were swollen, guiltily saying, "I’m sorry!"
Ella was taken aback by Elijah’s apology, then, after a moment of surprise, smiled again, confidently saying, "It’s okay."
She thought Elijah’s apology was for rejecting her confession.
These matters are consensual; there’s no forcing it. She didn’t think Elijah needed to apologize, hence saying it was okay.
Then, she looked again at Maya, smiling sweetly, saying, "Maya, I’m leaving."
"Be safe on the road," Maya instructed.
Liam saw the trace of loss in Maya’s eyes, raised a helpless smile, then pulled her closer, embracing her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, gently saying, "It’s okay, don’t worry."
"What’s there to worry about now?" Obviously, her tone still carried a hint of unhappiness, quite regretful that Elijah and Ella didn’t end up together.
When Ella’s gaze returned to Elijah, she felt slightly shy, not knowing what to say but had to leave.
Thus, she opened her arms to lightly hug Elijah, saying, "I’m leaving, take care."
After saying that, Ella turned around, again heading to the boarding line, starting to queue.
