Chapter 523: Chapter 521: Quite Smooth [3rd Update]

Maya listened to Noah Owen’s lament and quickly grabbed Ella Turner’s hand, introducing to Noah and Seven, "Noah, Seven, this is my good friend Ella Turner, Elijah Reed’s girlfriend."

"Noah, Seven, nice to meet you both." Ella greeted politely.

"Ella, I’m Noah Owen. Since you’re Maya’s best friend, we’re family now." Noah, being pregnant, had become more cheerful than before.

"Mm!" Ella nodded.

"Ella, I’m Seven Murray, happy to be friends with you." Seven extended her right hand with a smile to greet Ella.

"Mmm, thank you." Ella looked at the two girls in front of her, feeling a good vibe.

Tonight, she was especially happy to fit into Elijah and Maya’s life.

Before, whenever Maya wanted to introduce her to friends, she always felt a bit shy, feeling like she wasn’t in the same league, not from some wealthy family, so she only remained friends with Maya.

But today, meeting Noah and Seven whom Maya spoke of, Ella found them to be just like Maya, unpretentious and approachable.

Actually, she was second to none. With the care Ethan Turner and Elijah Reed gave her, she could be anyone’s princess.

Then, the girls began chatting about everything under the sun, movies, fashion, Seven’s work, and Noah’s pregnancy symptoms, chatting enthusiastically.

"Noah, don’t eat random things, and don’t drink alcohol." A moment later, Henry Reid came over and advised Noah.

Listening to Henry’s advice, Noah replied helplessly, "Got it!"

Her tone was filled with happiness, it seemed she got along well with Henry.

Maya watched Noah’s slightly bulging belly with envy, inadvertently thinking about the child she didn’t keep.

Even now, thinking back, Maya felt it’s a pity.

She wondered if she had kept that child, what would it be like now, would they look more like her or more like Liam Spencer.

Ella, sitting beside her, saw Maya staring at Noah’s belly and immediately held her small hand, comforting her that kids would come sooner or later.

"Hey, what are you thinking? Some classmates want to see you." Just then, Liam Spencer suddenly sat beside Maya, teasing her nose as he spoke.

Soon after, the girls were each taken away, leaving only Seven alone.

At the bar, watching her brother cuddle Maya in his arms, Seven wore a faint helpless smile, thinking her brother was truly heartwarming when being gentle.

Maya lay quietly in Liam’s embrace, listening to others’ conversations without speaking, just lying there in silence.

Noticing Maya’s low spirits, Liam bent down, whispered in her ear, "Maya, you’re still young. Just have fun now, and next year we’ll have a baby."

Liam saw the hint of sadness in Maya’s eyes, aware she was remembering things she wished to forget.

With time past, Liam didn’t want Maya dwelling on it, nor did he want her emotions affected.

"Mmm!" Maya nodded, agreeing.

Nearby, Seven watched the couple’s affection, biting her lower lip while smiling foolishly at them. Though she watched everyone pairing up, it would be a lie to say Seven wasn’t envious; after all, she’d been busy with work and hadn’t gone on a date.

"Seven." At that moment, Christopher Scott suddenly sat beside Seven, calling out to her.

The sudden voice made Seven turn abruptly, not out of excitement but startled, and upon seeing Christopher, she managed an awkward smile, acknowledging him with a nod.

Since they parted at the Shaw Clan Group’s annual celebration, Seven hadn’t seen Christopher.

Their meeting now left her feeling calm, without stirring up storms. Faced with Christopher’s amicable greeting, she responded politely.

"I heard you’re doing sales on a digital platform, is everything going smoothly?"

"Yes, it’s going pretty well." Seven replied calmly, not speaking as excitedly about her work as before.

After all, what she was doing seemed insignificant in Christopher’s eyes.

Watching Seven’s polite and gentle smile, Christopher felt a pang in his heart. Earlier, he had briefly explained the misunderstanding from three years ago to Seven, but she no longer cared. He wanted to explain it to her in detail but didn’t know how.

So, he continued with the work topic, asking, "Anything I can help with?"

"No, thank you!" Seven remained very polite, so much so that it pained Christopher, making him regret ever making that shameless demand to Seven back then, using unspoken rules to threaten her.

Now he deeply regretted it, yet couldn’t change Seven’s guarded attitude toward him.

After a brief chat, Seven casually found an excuse to slip away.

Even though she no longer harbored hatred for Christopher, she didn’t want any further entanglement.

Seven knew why Christopher approached her again; she wasn’t willing to repeat mistakes, and she had no feelings for him.

Christopher watched Seven from a distance, smiling as she chatted with others, his gaze never leaving her.

"Ah! Those unattainable are always stirring restively." At some point, Maya jumped to Christopher’s side, remarking with deep meaning.

Looking at her smug grin, Christopher threw his right arm over her shoulder, asking with a laugh, "Hey, sweetheart, tell me, what do I need to do to win Seven back?"

"Seven is a tough nut to crack; her temper is stubborn, and once she decides something, it’s hard to change. Even if she still has feelings for you, she probably wouldn’t admit it." Among these women, except for the mild-tempered Ella Turner, which one of them was easy to handle?

"So you’re saying you don’t think we have a chance?"

"Seven, I think you should let her be; she’s not the kind who’ll compromise. Maybe when she’s with someone else, she’ll realize she actually likes you." Maya opined indifferently, suggesting a bit of an expert’s familiarity with love.

"I can’t wait, Seven is a few years older than you, her mindset is different. Maybe now she just wants to find someone stable to live peacefully, to appease her mother." Christopher spoke with helplessness.

"Would it be like that? Choose to compromise because of age?" Maya furrowed her brow, puzzled, she didn’t think so. Besides, Seven wasn’t that old, just 26.

"Ah! When are you and your brother going to get things done?"

"Next year maybe!"

"Christopher, would you mind taking your arm away?" Liam glared at Christopher’s arm on his wife’s shoulder, displeased.

"Brother, why so petty? Let me lean a bit, comforting a wounded little heart."

"1, 2..." Before Liam could finish counting to 3, Christopher removed his hand from Maya’s shoulder.
