No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 551 - 549 I Really Like It [Update 1]
Sophia listened to James Bennett’s questioning, pouting and saying dismissively, "I just suddenly don’t like him anymore! I think Liam Spencer is better. Look at how cold he is; if I can conquer him, that would be such an accomplishment."
James, hearing Sophia’s ambitious words, shook his head helplessly and reminded her, "Are you sure you can snatch Liam Spencer from Maya?"
James was highly skeptical of Sophia’s abilities. Not to mention beating Maya, even if Liam were single, Sophia wouldn’t stand a chance.
This situation made James and Sophia’s parents quite anxious. Firstly, they were worried about Sophia constantly changing her crushes, and secondly, despite Sophia not lacking in any way, she’s never successfully pursued a man. What could be more pitiful than this?
Annoyed by James’s doubt, Sophia puffed out her cheeks, shook his arm, and said indignantly, "That’s why I need you to help me, Uncle! You have to create opportunities for me."
"I’ve created plenty of opportunities for you before, but you never seized them. Forget about Liam; go after someone else. Liam is Maya’s," James definitely didn’t plan to help Sophia break up Liam and Maya, as it was simply impossible.
At this point, Sophia snapped, grabbing James earnestly, "Uncle, what’s wrong with you? Of course, you have to help me create opportunities. If I manage to get Liam, then you’ll have a chance to pursue Maya! If we work together, we can definitely break them up."
Upon hearing Sophia’s analysis, James’s expression suddenly darkened, and he scolded in a low voice, "Nonsense, how could you ask me to chase Maya? It’s utterly ridiculous! Sophia, let me be clear: if you’re serious about getting married, you can choose anyone, but forget about Liam. He belongs to Maya."
Sophia was thoroughly shocked by James’s outburst.
Sophia had grown up without ever seeing James angry at her; today, he yelled at her for Maya’s sake. Feeling wronged, Sophia bit her lower lip tightly, her eyes red, and shouted at James, "If you won’t help, then fine! I’ll pursue him myself." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
With that, Sophia turned around and ran out of the club. As she reached the lobby, she coincidentally saw Liam and Maya once again. Liam was gently helping Maya take off her down jacket and lightly stroking her face with an extremely tender look in his eyes.
Sophia, upon seeing this, ran up angrily to Liam and Maya, wiping her tears and formally declared war on Maya, "Maya, I’m declaring war on you! I’m going to pursue Liam, so watch out!"
The girl’s challenge left Maya utterly perplexed, thinking this girl must be out of her mind.
Subsequently, Maya coldly laughed at Sophia, saying, "Alright! I’m waiting for you to make a move."
She didn’t believe for a second that this ridiculous girl could steal her cousin away.
"Hmph! Just you wait." With that, the girl ran out of the club, not even bothering to attend the party.
Maya turned around, watching Sophia leave, and only after her figure disappeared in front of the club did Maya turn to Liam, smiling mischievously, "Cousin, what do you think of this girl? Isn’t she unique? Who do you think is more likable, her or me?"
Sophia’s tantrum didn’t catch Liam’s attention but instead amused Maya, who found the girl quite amusing.
"Pfft..." Liam watched with that teasing smile on Maya’s lips, raised his hands to pinch her cheek, and promised softly and tenderly, "In my eyes, Maya is the most unique and likable; cousin loves only Maya and will never change."
"Liam, you said it. If you dare to break your promise, see how I’ll deal with you." Maya half-squinted her eyes, looking as if she was about to squeeze Liam to death, giving him a warning.
"Don’t worry! But I think you’re quite interested in her; I’m afraid she’ll steal you away," Liam responded indifferently.
"Cousin, you’re so silly!" Maya stood on tiptoe, poking Liam’s forehead with her finger, chastising him.
"Am I?" Liam wrapped his arms around her waist, leaning close to her lips, seeking a kiss.
"Ahem!" Just then, James suddenly appeared, coughing twice, interrupting the two of them.
Maya turned around to see James standing behind her, with a helpless look on her face, thinking to herself that the Bennetts really were troublesome, with one barely gone before another appeared.
Liam acknowledged James’s presence, "Chairman Bennett!"
Liam thought of how Sophia had run out crying earlier, guessing that she must have been scolded by James, so she was so upset and declared war on Maya.
"Liam, Maya, I’m sorry. My niece likes to make trouble for nothing, she’s not malicious, and once her three-day enthusiasm passes, she won’t bother you anymore." James feared Maya might worry or be upset, so he apologized on Sophia’s behalf.
"We didn’t take it to heart," Liam replied politely.
Maya, however, snuggled against him, pinching him hard, seemingly indicating that she did mind.
James noticed Maya’s small gesture, a hint of helplessness in his smile. He said, "Maya, you don’t need to worry, I’ll keep an eye on Sophia, so she doesn’t cause you any trouble."
James’s explanation left Maya confused, unable to figure out what this man was thinking.
She thought, if he let Sophia run wild, wouldn’t it be more beneficial for him? Why did he make these assurances to her? What was his true feeling towards her? Was it really just because they had a good rapport? Did he genuinely just want to be friends with her despite the age gap?
Thinking about being friends with a much older person, Maya felt goosebumps all over. She would rather not.
She had enough friends now and didn’t need another, especially not an older man.
So, she smiled at James and said, "It’s okay, let her bring it on, it’s not enough to pose a threat to me."
Maya wasn’t willing to owe James any favors over someone so inexplicable, making it seem like Liam was given to her by them when in fact, her cousin had always been hers, right?
"Pfft..." James was amused by Maya.
He rarely laughed, but today Maya made him laugh twice. Her brash personality was quite similar to how he was when he was young.
After laughing, James said gently, "Maya, your trust in Liam is very adorable."
"Hehe!" Maya forced a smile, not caring much, she didn’t appreciate this strange uncle’s compliments.
"Maya, be polite," Liam whispered in her ear to remind her.
Maya became displeased, immediately turned around, raised her head, and looked at Liam seriously, asking, "Cousin, when was I not polite?"
Liam, irritated by Maya, gritted his teeth. He knew she was intentionally arguing back.
Seeing the situation, James quickly smoothed things over, "Maya is very straightforward, I like it."
