Chapter 559: Chapter 557: Don’t Be Proud [4 Updates]

Ian Hobbs’s appearance caused Christopher Scott to panic, making him feel that Seven Murray was drifting further away from him.

He originally wanted to call Seven Murray, to ask her out for a talk, but when he remembered that there was no place for him in Seven Murray’s eyes anymore, Christopher Scott gave up.

The next day, Ian Hobbs invited him for dinner, but he made an excuse about being busy with work and turned it down.

However, he still went to the bar at night, because if he didn’t even show up for the latter part of the night, it would make him seem too petty.

Even if he took a loss, Christopher Scott was unwilling to be so ungracious.

At the bar, when Christopher Scott arrived, everyone was already there, except for Henry Reid and Noah Owen. Those two were home talking to their baby.

At the bar counter, Maya Spencer saw Christopher Scott arrive, and hurriedly stepped forward to ask, "Christopher, have you eaten? Should I order some late-night snacks for you?"

Looking at Maya Spencer’s concern for him, Christopher Scott knew that Maya was worried about him, afraid that he might feel uncomfortable seeing Seven Murray and Ian Hobbs together.

Christopher lifted his right hand, gently ruffled Maya’s hair, and smiled as he said, "Dear Maya, I’ve eaten."

Christopher’s smile was warm, yet tinged with a bit of helplessness. Maya rarely saw Christopher like this, so despite his words of reassurance, Maya still felt sad for him.

Not far from the bar counter, Seven Murray was holding Ian Hobbs’s arm, laughing and joking with everyone. Everyone was very warm towards Ian, having fully accepted him.

Seeing Christopher Scott arrive, Ian Hobbs quickly put down his glass, walked over to Christopher, and greeted him with a smile, "Christopher, you’ve come."

Ian’s demeanor was very cordial, not flaunting his relationship with Seven Murray, nor feeling guilt towards Christopher, just meeting an old friend.

"Hmm!" Christopher Scott smiled and nodded, without showing any other dissatisfaction.

After a polite exchange between the two men, Ian Hobbs went to greet other friends, while Maya Spencer stayed by Christopher’s side to keep him company.

She recalled, three years ago when she was being troubled by Liam Spencer at the bar, it was Christopher who helped her out. Every time at gatherings, Christopher would accompany her, making sure she wasn’t bored.

Now, with Christopher in an awkward situation, she naturally felt she had to stay with him, to ensure he wasn’t left alone.

Maya leaned her right hand on the bar counter, propping up her face, watching Christopher as he drank one glass after another. Her brows furrowed more and more severely.

After Christopher downed his sixth glass of wine, Maya immediately grabbed his glass, anxiously saying, "If you can’t let go of Seven, then go after her, go confess to her! What good does it do to drink like this? Trying to get Seven’s sympathy? The Christopher I know wouldn’t be like this."

"Dear Maya, you don’t understand this feeling, because you’ve always been loved by Liam. Seven had already removed me from her eyes a long time ago, even if I go confess, if I go after her, it would only be humiliating myself." Christopher grabbed the glass back from Maya’s hand, and explained with a bitter smile.

"Christopher, how did you become so lacking in confidence? When Seven wasn’t back, I thought you were pretty confident." Maya was unwilling to accept that Christopher wouldn’t even risk it all before giving up.

What if Seven’s heart still cares for him? What if Seven’s pride is just too overwhelming? Especially given that girls are meant to be coaxed, Christopher hasn’t even tried to coax Seven yet, how can he just give up?

As the saying goes, emotions spark when people meet face to face. If he gave Seven a promise in person, perhaps Seven might come back.

"Hmm! I was too self-assured, so it was myself who missed out on Seven." Christopher’s mood was exceedingly low, and he wasn’t confident at all that he could win Seven back.

He watched Seven holding Ian Hobbs’s arm, laughing so happily, he couldn’t bear to disturb her anymore.

Because, ever since Seven returned, when they interacted, Seven never laughed so happily.

Faced with Christopher Scott’s explanation, Maya Spencer was at a loss for words, continuing to lean her right hand on the bar counter, propping up her face, watching Christopher drink.

Just then, Liam Spencer walked over, noticing the trace of disappointment in Maya’s eyes and helplessly shook his head, gently wrapping his arm around her slender waist, planting a kiss on her cheek to indicate that she shouldn’t worry.

"Good evening, Young Master!" Just as Liam had held Maya, a familiar, crisp voice rang in the ears of the two.

Upon hearing the girl’s voice, Maya Spencer gritted her teeth in anger, thinking, how this Sophia Bennett had managed to track their whereabouts so carefully and followed them to the bar. Clearly, she was intent on going head to head with her.

However, Liam Spencer directly ignored the girl, treating her as if she didn’t exist, continuing to hold Maya.

"Young Master, what a coincidence." Sophia Bennett, noticing Liam wasn’t paying her any attention, quickly raised her right hand to remove Liam’s hand from around Maya’s waist, cheerfully looking at Liam.

Sophia had a personality, whether a flaw or a strength, of remaining oblivious to others’ cold shoulders, persisting only in pursuing whoever she was interested in, despite the other party not liking her.

Seeing Sophia taking Liam’s hand off her waist, Maya sneered, grabbing Liam’s hand and placing it back on her waist, rolling her eyes dismissively at Sophia with sarcasm, "Sophia, your shameless persistence skills are really impressive, actually being able to find us here."

"What? Afraid? Maya, I haven’t brought out the big guns yet, so don’t get cocky." Even though Liam ignored Sophia, she remained full of confidence.

Looking at Sophia’s brazen attitude, Maya thought to herself, if Christopher could learn a thing or two from her, perhaps Seven would have a change of heart.

Nearby, Christopher Scott looked at the three before him, bewildered, not yet acquainted with this bold mistress.

"Sophia, why are you here?" Ian Hobbs suddenly walked over and pulled Sophia away from Liam’s side, sizing her up and down, questioning.

"Young Master Hobbs! I heard you already have a girlfriend, congratulations! You’ve moved fast." Before chasing Liam, Sophia’s target was Ian Hobbs; within half a month, she’d changed her focus.

Nonetheless, she chased Ian Hobbs for a relatively long period, at least half a month. Previously, the shortest she’s ever pursued a man was thirty minutes; having seen someone with a large appetite, she simply despised it.

Looking at the girl before him, Ian took a deep breath, pulling her aside and warning in a low voice, "Sophia, don’t cause trouble for me. I’ve said, I won’t like you."

Listening to Ian’s warning, Sophia let out a couple of cold laughs, abruptly shaking off Ian’s hand, quickly running back to Liam’s side, enthusiastically hooking her arm around Liam’s, declaring smugly, "Ian, don’t get any ideas thinking I still like you! Let me tell you, I’m currently pursuing Liam. So go ahead and focus on your romance, don’t interfere with mine."

"..." Ian was embarrassed; he hadn’t anticipated Sophia to change her target so swiftly.

A few days ago, when she was chasing after him, she had made him a heap of promises, saying she’d like him alone for life, would be good to him forever, care for him, even sending him lunches filled with love.

And now, within days, she had changed, chasing after Liam. Ian inserted his hands into his waist, shaking his head with a mixture of amusement and helplessness, saying, "OK! OK! Whatever makes you happy."
