Chapter 581: Chapter 579: Take Good Care of [Part 1]

Seven Murray listened to Christopher Scott say he wanted to hold her, and her eyes turned red again.

After all these years, it was the first time Christopher Scott said he wanted to hold her, but besides wanting to cry, she felt not a trace of excitement, and she didn’t even want his embrace.

She wanted to refuse Christopher Scott, but Christopher Scott suddenly stood up from the chair, quickly pulled her into his arms, and held her tightly.

He heard Christopher Scott whisper, "Seven, I’m sorry! I’m really sorry, I let you down, and it’s a pity I can’t become your future. You’re right, I was too selfish, only caring about my own feelings, never considering you. I’m really sorry, I hope Ian Hobbs can give you the happiness you didn’t find with me."

"Seven, but I really like you, I like you a lot! Even though I’ve never said it to you."

In that instant, Seven Murray broke down in tears, she raised her small hand, gently patted Christopher Scott’s back, and confessed, "Even though you made me so sad, I’ve never regretted having my youth accompanied by you. In the future, we both have to be well."

"If Ian Hobbs treats you poorly, I’ll help you beat him up." Seeing Seven Murray cry, Christopher Scott hurriedly pushed her out of his embrace, grabbing her arm with his left hand, wiping her tears with his right.

Christopher Scott had known Seven Murray for so many years, but this was the first time he saw Seven Murray so sentimental. He really didn’t want to let go, yet it seemed he had to.

Seven Murray listened to Christopher Scott’s comforting words, furiously nodding, saying, "Okay!"

Yet she knew, Ian Hobbs would not treat her poorly.

Then, Christopher Scott’s lips curled into a smile as he gently caressed her face, saying, "Hurry and get busy! It’s Christmas Eve tonight, leave work early."

Actually, Christopher Scott was barely holding on, he feared if Seven Murray didn’t leave soon, he would do something extreme, making her hate him, he didn’t want to leave more unpleasant memories for her.

"Uh-huh!" Seven Murray nodded, wiping her tears, and walked towards the coffee shop door.

Christopher Scott took a deep breath, turned around, staring intently at Seven Murray’s back, wishing so much she would turn around and happily say to him like before, "Christopher Scott, I like you. Let’s date!"

However, he saw Seven Murray getting farther away, saw Ian Hobbs waiting for her outside the coffee shop, saw her suddenly rush into Ian Hobbs’ embrace, holding him tight.

He never got to see Seven Murray turn around, just like Seven Murray waited for him for 7 years, never seeing him come for her.

Christopher Scott looked at the figures of the two, his lips curled into a bitter smile.

In the end, he still lost her!

Christopher Scott took a deep breath, slowly turned around, gently closed his eyes, and feebly collapsed onto the sofa, forcing himself to accept the fact that he and Seven Murray were over.

Ironically, his memories became more vivid, his past with Seven Murray seemed like it happened yesterday, he felt she still belonged to him.

But, in the blink of an eye, he had lost Seven Murray.

Christopher Scott hated himself, hated how he couldn’t recall the past bits and pieces during these 7 years, yet when Seven Murray decided to leave, he suddenly remembered her beauty, realizing how reluctant he was to let her go.

Christopher Scott held his breath, trying to control his emotions.

He told himself, everything was a consequence of his own actions, he didn’t cherish Seven Murray, he hurt Seven Murray’s heart.

Yet, he still felt unbearable pain, pain so overwhelming it felt like dying; pain so intense he sat on the coffee shop’s sofa, heedless of image, unconcerned with others’ bewildered glances.

For a moment, Christopher Scott felt his heart had died, he even didn’t know how he would live tomorrow, how he would face Seven Murray’s engagement.

Even though Seven Murray had been absent these years and he carried on as usual, he still felt awful.

Outside the coffee shop, Ian Hobbs was waiting patiently for Seven Murray, seeing her come out tearfully, his heart ached, quickly stepping towards Seven Murray.

Seven Murray looked at the worry in Ian Hobbs’s eyes, her tears fell even larger, rushing towards Ian Hobbs in a hundredfold grievance, holding him tight.

Ian Hobbs saw Seven Murray’s weakness, saw her tears, he gently held her waist with his left hand, his right hand on her nape, lowered his head and kissed her forehead, comforting her.

He knew that Seven Murray was feeling sad, yet he couldn’t comfort her with words, he would rather bear it all himself than see Seven Murray shed tears.

Seven Murray lay in Ian Hobbs’s embrace, clutching his clothes, crying out, "Why? Why? Why is he only thinking of me now? Why did he make me sad for so long?"

Although Seven Murray said she had let go, when facing Christopher Scott’s apology and reconciliation, her heart still felt sad, as Christopher Scott had been her entire youth.

She would rather Christopher Scott be heartless to her for a lifetime, rather Christopher Scott not say he likes her, than see him show weakness at this moment.

She finally made up her mind to give up on Christopher Scott, she kept telling herself, Christopher Scott didn’t love her, which is why he neglected her for so many years.

But, what does it mean when he says these things on the eve of her engagement? Does he want to shake her resolve? Does he not want to see his former little follower belong to someone else?

Seven Murray understood all these reasons, but she was in great pain. She’d rather Christopher Scott always be a ’bad guy’ in her heart, a ’bad guy’ who didn’t know how to love her well.

Ian Hobbs watched Seven Murray crying heart-wrenchingly, and he choked up.

He had liked her for a long time, finally having this opportunity, he didn’t want to give up Seven Murray.

But he was even more afraid to see Seven Murray upset, afraid Seven Murray might regret in the future.

So he gently pushed Seven Murray away, cupped her tear-stained face with both hands, wiping her tears, said, "Seven, no matter what decision you make, I will understand and support you."

Ian Hobbs understood the relationship between Seven Murray and Christopher Scott.

Ever since he and Seven Murray met for matchmaking, he knew what kind of opponent he was up against.

With Christopher Scott, he had no absolute certainty, yet he was willing to give it a try, wanting to bring happiness to Seven Murray in his own way.

On the day before their engagement, making this decision was indeed difficult, but he couldn’t bear to see Seven Murray sad.

So he spoke upfront, letting Seven Murray have no worries, encouraging her to follow her heart, he wouldn’t blame her, not at all.

He was already satisfied with the memories he shared with Seven Murray during this time.

Seven Murray looked at the sadness in Ian Hobbs’s eyes, at his generosity, at his heartache for her, Seven Murray felt her heart ache.

She could understand the feeling of waiting, she also understood the feelings of unrequited love and worry, she had experienced all these feelings with Christopher Scott.

This man liked her for over ten years, but remained unnoticed, never disturbing her life, yet confessed to her in her most distressing and difficult times, Seven Murray’s heart was impacted, the warmth Ian Hobbs brought her starkly contrasted the pain Christopher Scott gave her.
