Chapter 644: Chapter 642 Are You Going to Heaven? [4th Update]

Sophia Bennett later heard from Maya Spencer about the reason for Seven Murray’s departure back then, so she felt filled with guilt about drugging herself.

Thus, she increasingly feared Christopher Scott.

Over the past year, all her sharp edges have been worn away by Christopher Scott.

She sends him three texts a day, persisting for 600 days, 1800 messages, yet he never made an exception; he always just replies with two words: "Received."

In the weekly phone calls, he never says a word. Sometimes she even doubts whether he’s listening to her at all, but when she asks if he’s there, he coldly responds with a single word: "Yes."

He never asks her a single question about what she says.

Christopher Scott has turned her from an arrogant young lady into a small woman full of insecurity, making her always feel that her personality is flawed and therefore unloved.

Sophia listens to Christopher’s questioning, takes a deep breath, and stares into his eyes without looking away. She sees that this man is extremely disdainful of her, doesn’t want to talk to her at all.

She doesn’t want to be misunderstood by him, so she bites her lower lip and softly explains, "Liam Spencer asked me to check the documents in person. The key points he mentioned, I’ve noted them all. I’ll leave as soon as I finish verifying."

Christopher Scott heard Sophia’s explanation and rolled his eyes at the air indifferently. He knew Liam Spencer did it on purpose, deliberately making Sophia appear in front of him to annoy him.

Christopher thought, Liam Spencer, you scoundrel. I kindly reminded you once, yet you hold a grudge and sent Sophia to disgust me. Well done, Liam, you wretched brother.

However, looking at Sophia’s timid appearance, he lacks the energy to get angry, letting her stand across his desk, checking her phone notes while verifying documents.

This was Christopher’s office. Since he didn’t allow her to sit, Sophia didn’t dare take a seat. In front of Christopher, she dared not make any decisions about even the smallest of things.

Christopher saw Sophia’s timidity and thought she was acting to gain his sympathy, because she was inherently not a low-profile person, so he never looked at her directly.

"You’re blocking my light," Christopher said as he noticed her standing across his desk, feeling stifled.

Sophia heard him and quickly stepped a few paces to the left, realizing it was almost impossible to finish reviewing the documents quickly.

So she reached out to pull the chair beside the desk, intending to sit, but when she caught sight of Christopher’s sharp gaze, her little hand immediately withdrew.

She could tell from Christopher’s eyes that he didn’t like her sitting across from him, resented her, and even hated sharing the same air with her.

Suddenly, her sense of inferiority surged back; the motivation she had at home vanished instantly. She stood there stunned for a moment and then quietly moved to the couch, placing the documents and phone on the coffee table and sat on the couch to continue checking.

Although she was verifying work, her gaze often fell on Christopher, secretly watching him.

Even though they are so close, it feels incredibly distant; Sophia feels inexplicably sad and uncomfortable, her eyes slightly red, feeling an urge to cry but holding back because Christopher hates her tears, saying she’s pretentious.

When Sophia again sneaked a glance at Christopher, he was also looking at her.

Their eyes met; Sophia felt extremely aggrieved, while Christopher appeared full of impatience.

Seeing Christopher’s sour expression, Sophia quickly averted her gaze and continued checking the documents.

Christopher noticed her red eyes when he looked at her, but he didn’t believe in her grievances.

He vividly remembered this woman being extremely unreasonable before; now, in front of him, she’s always timid and careful. The more she behaved like this, the more he disliked her.

Over the past year, Sophia has changed a lot except for her feelings for Christopher.

Suddenly, Christopher threw his phone onto the table with a "smack" and said indifferently, "Sophia, have you played enough? Is it necessary to act pitiful in front of me? Do you think I’d believe you? Like you?"

Christopher felt terribly annoyed after being pestered for so long.

Despite Christopher’s skepticism and distrust, Sophia didn’t offer any explanation. She knew if she hadn’t been so headstrong before, Christopher wouldn’t have such an opinion of her. So everything was her own doing.

Thus, she lowered her head and remained silent, ignoring Christopher.

Christopher seeing her ignoring him, indifferently rolled his eyes and continued his work.

No matter why, Christopher just dislikes Sophia, whether she was her previous arrogant self or the current cautious one, he intensely dislikes her.

At five o’clock, Sophia had reviewed most of the documents, and Christopher’s phone suddenly rang.

Sophia heard the phone ringing and paused for a moment, then quickly bowed her head to continue reviewing her documentation.

Christopher grabbed his phone and glanced at Sophia.

He then asked, "Mom, what’s up?"

"Christopher, I’ve found two girls for you these days, and I’ve already arranged a meeting with one. After work today, you should have dinner and watch a movie with her," Madam Scott said excitedly over the phone.

"Mom, I’m working late today, no time for dinner or movies," Christopher declined since he didn’t have any plans regarding relationships.

"No, I’ve already arranged it. You must go even if you’re busy. If you don’t want me to worry about you, then marry Sophia. She’s a good girl, pursued you for so long; why resist? Want the impossible?"

Christopher turned 29 this year, without a girlfriend, and Madam Scott was anxious.

She likes Sophia quite a bit, thinks this girl is beautiful and devoted; with her liking Christopher, it’s his blessing. But Christopher never looks at her properly, forcing Madam Scott to push this meeting upon him.

Upon hearing he should marry Sophia instead of going, Christopher’s brows furrowed, and he quickly replied, "Okay, okay! I’ll go! Send me the address."

On the couch, Sophia heard Christopher’s words and didn’t need to ask to know he was going on a blind date.

Instantly, Sophia felt extremely hurt inside, and although she didn’t want to cry, the tears couldn’t help but fall onto her hands.

Even a small blind date was unacceptable for Sophia, her instincts telling her that agreeing to date would mean Christopher will drift further and further away until he’s gone from her sight.

She liked Christopher for so long, pursued him for so long; this is not the outcome she wanted.
