Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 757 - 753: Passion in the Dark Night (6)
Irene glanced at her watch; she had been waiting in the car for Asher Land for an hour and forty minutes.
"Miss Morton, do you need me to go inside the club to look for Mr. Land now?" The driver noticed the impatience in Irene’s eyes, as if the car was about to become the site of a volcanic eruption at any moment.
"Look for him?" She sneered, a hint of mocking smile at the corner of her mouth, "He’s off finding his woman now. If you go look for him, wouldn’t you be interrupting him? You certainly can’t afford to bear the consequences of disturbing the Third Young Master Land while he’s enjoying himself."
Sure enough, the driver dared not speak again. How could he have the guts to ruin Asher Land’s plans?
About twenty minutes later, the driver noticed a tall figure coming from the exit.
"Miss Morton, Mr. Land is back." The driver couldn’t help but let out a long breath; if Asher Land hadn’t come at that moment, this Miss Morton might have killed him with her glare.
The driver quickly got out of the car and opened the door for Asher Land.
Asher Land sat back in the car, not looking very well.
"Mr. Land, should we head home?" the driver cautiously asked.
"Mm." He responded in a low voice, and receiving the instruction, the driver immediately started the car.
"Oh, Brother Asher, Sister Sophie didn’t let you have fun? Why do you look so displeased?" Irene mocked harshly. In front of Asher Land over the past two years, she had become more and more audacious, yet despite her behavior, Asher Land tolerated her even more than before.
Irene knew that the reason Asher Land put up with her was because during the years after his severe car accident, she had stayed by his side, never leaving him, and even shielded him from a bullet...
People in helpless, painful, and desperate times need someone’s companionship the most.
She was very grateful that it was her who accompanied him during those times.
She knew that Sophie was searching for him all over the world, but during that period, Asher Land was beyond control. In the first year, he lay on a hospital bed as a vegetative state, utterly unaware of everything, and later on, he was either in a wheelchair or on the operating table. He, usually proud and arrogant, was full of insecurity during that time. She knew it wasn’t that he didn’t want to find Sophie, but that he didn’t dare.
He was terrified of showing his half-alive, crippled self in front of her.
After two years of treatment, he seemed to have recovered externally, and even his once useless left arm had improved significantly with long-term treatment and rehabilitation. Although Irene knew that internally, he was still fragile.
This was also the reason he dared not openly meet Sophie.
Asher Land didn’t speak; he just placed one hand by the car window, absent-mindedly tapping away.
His shirt had two buttons undone, and his tie was nowhere to be seen. Irene naturally knew what he had done with Sophie during his absence.
"Brother Asher, I thought you wouldn’t have any desires left for women," Irene chuckled softly, "I can’t believe that when you see Sister Sophie, you disregard everything else?"
Though she could pretend to be indifferent, her heart truly ached intensely.
These four years of her companionship could only earn his tolerance, yet never a single bit of affection for her.
The driver steadily drove the car along the road; Asher Land remained silent, even as Irene continued beside him, alternating between mocking sarcasm and tearful complaints.
