Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 769 - 765: Seeing Him, Even Breathing Stops (Part 3)
"Luke Land."
"So, why didn’t you answer?"
Sophie Smith vaguely felt he was avoiding something.
Asher Land seemed unwilling to say more on this topic. He got out of the car and sat in the driver’s seat.
He started the engine and reversed the car out of the garage.
There was joy and excitement in Sophie Smith’s eyes. Seeing how skillfully he drove, she thought his left arm must have recovered.
"Where are you living now?" he asked.
"Oh." She quickly gave him the address of her single apartment.
About an hour and a half later, the car stopped downstairs at her apartment building.
Sophie sat in the car, thinking about what she should say to him now.
Why is it that after four years of not seeing him, she feels she can’t even talk to him normally?
"Aren’t you going to invite me upstairs?" He turned to look at her sitting quietly in the back seat, raising his lips slightly. "If there is another man in your apartment, then I won’t go in."
"There’s no one..." Sophie opened the car door, stepped out, and walked to his side. "Let’s go."
She went upstairs first, followed closely by Asher Land.
She took the key from her bag and opened the apartment door.
The apartment was small, one bedroom and one living room, but it had a cozy, tidy, and bright interior that made people feel comfortable.
He sat down on the single sofa.
His tall frame seemed somewhat out of place in the room; everything she thought was just right suddenly appeared much smaller in front of him.
"Would you like some tea?" Sophie, not knowing why, suddenly became more courteous in front of him.
Asher thought it must be his attitude today had frightened her. If it wasn’t for today’s accident, he hadn’t planned to appear in front of her. But since they had already met, he shouldn’t make her sad, should he?
She feared his unfamiliarity, so he must find a way to dispel her inner fear.
"I don’t want anything to drink, come here." His tone always carried a kind of undeniable assertiveness, and Sophie obediently followed, walking up to him. He extended his long arm, pulling her over to sit on his lap.
His large hand gently pinched her chin, bringing her lips closer to his own.
His warm breath passed by, and Sophie’s body tensed as she felt uneasy, wanting to turn her head away.
"Did you miss me?" he asked.
Miss me?
Sophie let out a small laugh. So many nights, she didn’t sleep peacefully. In her dreams, he would always make an appearance, either good or bad.
Either way, it was enough to leave her restless.
She didn’t answer him, feeling only a sour and bitter heaviness in her heart.
"Did you or didn’t you?" he pressed further. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Asher Land, in these four years, there hasn’t been a day I didn’t miss you. But even if I did, so what? I couldn’t find you, and you didn’t come to find me. Every time I missed you was a torment for me, you know?" She looked into his eyes and spoke each word deliberately.
Asher Land’s lips curled into a helpless smile. Not come to find her?
Does she think he didn’t want to find her? God knows how much he longed to, but cruel reality had rendered him powerless.
Between the two, there was a tacit silence. There were countless ’stories’ to tell about these four years, but neither was willing to start.
