Not Being a Trainer This Time-Chapter 577 - 323: Longing (Part 2)
So it hid away, quietly observing the other’s actions.
As a result, the other person was very perceptive and immediately discovered it, then came over to visit its home.
Initially, Ogerpon was very frightened and scared, thinking that the human would chase it away and attack it.
But instead of doing so, the human greeted it kindly and even gave it a few Berries.
Ogerpon was extremely surprised, but it was too scared and had never encountered such a situation before, so it fled in a panic.
When it returned to the cave, it saw a small mountain of Berries piled on the stone table.
Ogerpon initially thought that after the person left, they would never return, but the next day, the person came again. They spoke kindly to it and gave some food when they left.
But there were so many Berries, it simply couldn’t finish them!
Would they come again tomorrow? A hint of anticipation rose in Ogerpon’s heart.
Ogerpon looked at the table full of Berries in front of it and suddenly thought of events from long ago.
When it was in its childhood, a tall human adopted it.
The man brought it here and cared for it like a child.
He would also bring Berries from outside and place them on the table, leaving them for it to eat.
In Ogerpon’s heart, the man was like a father to it.
However... the man left.
That day, in anger, it went to the town to avenge the man and defeated those four greedy Pokemon.
But the person who had adopted it could never return.
"Plop!"
A teardrop fell onto the damaged Teal Mask, followed by another.
Thoughts of longing went silently, as Ogerpon buried its face in the mask and sobbed quietly amid the sudden heavy rain outside.
*
Early the next morning.
A sudden heavy rain blanketed the entire Mossui Town.
The agricultural exchange meeting was forced to halt, so Naoki could only stay in the community center listening to the rain.
A few Pokemon stayed listlessly in the room.
Naoki watched for a while and then stood up, recalling them into the Poke Balls. He put on a raincoat and rode Koraidon to Ghost Mountain.
It wasn’t until he saw Ogerpon holding the mask in the cave that Naoki felt relieved.
He brought Koraidon into the cave.
After learning about Ogerpon’s story, Naoki viewed Ogerpon differently now.
Because this Pokemon was truly pitiful.
Despised by the people of Mossui Town, it could only stay alone, clinging to that mask in this cave filled with memories.
Swept up in sympathy, Naoki walked in with a backpack full of food.
Not knowing how to comfort Ogerpon, he simply dumped the food onto the stone table for it, completely ignoring the fact that Ogerpon hadn’t finished the Berries from yesterday.
Ogerpon stared blankly at the busy human in front of it.
It had thought the human wouldn’t come today...
"Here!" Naoki grinned, then handed over a bottle of warm goat milk that had been heated at the community center. To keep it from cooling, he had kept it warm in his pocket: "Rainy days are quite cold, have some warm milk to warm yourself up."
He placed the goat milk in Ogerpon’s hands and then turned to take out a towel from the backpack to wipe the cold rainwater off Koraidon to prevent it from catching a cold.
Seeing Ogerpon looking over, Naoki comforted, "Don’t be afraid of it, this is Koraidon. Though it looks fierce, it’s actually quite gentle!"
"Ah gasi!" Koraidon shook the rainwater off vigorously, splashing Naoki.
After wiping Koraidon dry, Naoki opened the backpack again and took out a blanket handed to him by the Indeedee Sibling and spread it on the stone bed.
Then, he released Slugma from its Poke Ball.
With the warm help of Slugma, the cold cave soon became warm.
The rain poured outside, yet inside it was beautifully cozy.
Even the dull gray walls were illuminated to a warm orange hue by Slugma’s flames.
In just a few minutes, the cave underwent a drastic transformation.
So quickly, Ogerpon hardly even had time to react.
"Boni..."
Naoki took out a frying pan from his backpack, set it atop Slugma, and began preparing breakfast for Ogerpon.
"Thank you, Slugma," Naoki said, feeding two Berries to Slugma. After Slugma ate them all, its body temperature surged dramatically.
The oil in the frying pan quickly heated up, sizzling noisily.
Naoki quickly cracked open an egg, added sliced tomatoes, and when the process was complete, he toasted two slices of fragrant bread using Slugma.
Finally, he placed the cooked egg and other ingredients into the soft bread, completing a warm sandwich.
Naoki handed the sandwich to Ogerpon, "Go on, eat!"
Ogerpon’s face was filled with bewilderment.
Naoki realized his actions might seem too abrupt to Ogerpon.
So he thought for a moment and explained to Ogerpon, "Don’t worry, Ogerpon."
Upon hearing the human call its name, Ogerpon’s face showed a clearly shocked expression.
"Boni...?"
"A villager from town has already told me everything about you."
