Obsessed with a High-Ranking Esper (BL)-Chapter 315: I love you so much
Stannis, ignoring his own injuries, surged forward to intervene, only to be met by a wall of golden energy that slammed him and others violently against the far wall.
"Any last words, son?" Thaurion sneered.
But Jian Rui showed no fear. "I should be asking you that."
A chilling shink ripped through the air. Thaurion gasped, his eyes widening in disbelief. A blade, a physical blade, protruded from his back, crimson blooming on his regal robes. He turned, his face a mask of shock and betrayal.
Standing behind him, clad in a sleek, charcoal-grey exosuit, was Jian Wei.
"You?" Thaurion croaked, blood bubbling between his lips. He attempted to unleash his psychic power, but found it... muted and constrained.
Jian Wei’s voice, amplified by the exosuit, was cold and steady. "Don’t worry, you will live... but no longer as the tyrant."
Thaurion roared, a primal sound of impotent rage. He lunged, a wounded beast robbed of its claws, but Jian Rui, fueled by adrenaline and a desperate surge of power, slammed him into the floor with a devastating psychic blast. Thaurion lay still, a growing pool of blood staining the polished stone beneath him.
Jian Rui turned to his brother, his face pale and drawn. "Ah- Wei, are you okay?"
Jian Wei gave a curt nod. "I am good, don’t worry about me."
Jian Rui’s voice cut through the chaos, sharp and cold. "Make sure he doesn’t die. Death is too easy for him."
They all turned to look at Thaurion, broken but still breathing. Jian Wei’s lips curled into a grim smile. "Oh, he will live... alright."
Jian Rui’s steps quickened as he crossed the hall, his eyes locking onto Stannis. The marshal was struggling to rise, his body battered, his breath uneven. Jian Rui’s chest tightened at the sight. He rushed forward, catching Stannis before he could fall again.
"Take it easy," Jian Rui said, steadying him.
But Stannis wasn’t concerned with his own injuries. His eyes scanned Jian Rui with frantic urgency, his hands trembling as he gripped his shoulders. "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"
Jian Rui shook his head, his voice calm. "I am fine. You should be worried about yourself."
Suddenly, Stannis pulled him into a tight embrace. His voice broke into a whisper, raw and trembling. "It’s finally over... it’s finally over."
Jian Rui froze, then slowly relaxed. The weight that had pressed down on his shoulders for years; the grief, the rage, the burden of vengeance finally lifted. For the first time, he felt he could breathe. For the first time, he could sleep knowing his mother had been avenged.
They held each other like that, unmoving, and no one dared disturb them.
Jian Rui had forgotten about his own injury until a sharp wince reminded him. His arm throbbed, though the wound was already knitting itself back together. Stannis pulled back, his eyes narrowing as he finally noticed.
"Let’s get that checked out," Stannis said firmly.
Jian Rui nodded, allowing the medical staff he had brought with him to examine his arm.
Meanwhile, Jian Wei glanced back at them, his gaze lingering on the quiet intimacy between Jian Rui and Stannis. An inexplicable thought struck him, sharp and unsettling. ’Was Yu Xi right all along? Was I truly too stupid to realize?’
The question gnawed at him, but before he could dwell on it, another thought surged forward, urgent and consuming. ’Where are Jian Ci and Yu Xi?’
***
The mansion was quiet, its walls heavy with secrecy. Yu Xi had carried Jian Ci here, the place Eros had given him. It was a sanctuary hidden from imperial eyes. Jian Ci’s condition was poor, his body battered, his aura flickering weakly. He needed time to heal, and Yu Xi knew this was the only safe place.
Yu Xi stood by the window with the floating screen of his communicator in front of him, speaking quickly to the doctor. He knew Jian Wei was too busy to help, so he had called the only one he trusted was that quack doctor. Reliable, though eccentric but reliable nonetheless.
On the bed, Jian Ci lay still, his gaze locked on Yu Xi. It was so intense, so piercing, that Yu Xi could feel it burrowing into his skin. He hung up the call and turned, meeting that gaze.
"He’s on his way," Yu Xi said softly.
Jian Ci’s voice was hoarse, but his words carried weight. "Why are you so good to me?"
Yu Xi arched a brow, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Is that a question you should ask your boyfriend?"
Jian Ci’s fingers curled, beckoning him closer. Yu Xi walked over, his steps slow, his expression unreadable. "What do you want to do?"
Jian Ci’s lips curved faintly. "I want to hug my baby."
Yu Xi chuckled, the sound low and warm, before lying down beside him. Jian Ci’s arms wrapped around him, pulling him close, and Yu Xi settled into his embrace.
Jian Ci’s chest tightened. He knew he didn’t deserve Yu Xi. Yu Xi was always the one rescuing him, always the one carrying the weight. He felt like a burden, dragging him down. He wanted to be stronger, to protect Yu Xi, but the truth gnawed at him and he felt useless.
His fingers threaded through Yu Xi’s hair, reverent and tender. He closed his eyes, savoring the moment.
"Little Xi," Jian Ci whispered, his voice breaking, "I really don’t deserve you."
Yu Xi looked up at Jian Ci, their gazes locking. His voice was firm, almost scolding. "Don’t say that."
Jian Ci’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his heart pounding fast. He could see the upset in Yu Xi’s eyes, the way his words had struck too deep.
"Do you love me?" Yu Xi asked, his tone quiet but sharp, demanding truth.
Jian Ci didn’t hesitate. "I love you... more than life itself."
Yu Xi’s lips curved into a smile, though his eyes softened with emotion. "Then stop talking nonsense," he said, before looking away.
Jian Ci’s hand rose, caressing Yu Xi’s shoulder, his nose pressing against the crown of Yu Xi’s head. A slight smile touched his lips. He knew he didn’t deserve Yu Xi’s loyalty, his love and care, but he would work hard, harder than ever. He would give him his life. Today, when he rushed in, he had been prepared to die for him.
"I love you so much, babe," Jian Ci whispered, his voice trembling with sincerity.
Yu Xi smiled where Jian Ci couldn’t see, his chest tightening with warmth. He hugged him closer, whispering back, "I love you too."
