Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Private Affairs
Chapter 36 -36 Private Affairs
“You’re in trouble, you’ve fallen in love,” he exclaimed earnestly.
Qin Jingchen glanced at him, whereas Fen Ye was brazen even when his argument wasn’t coherent—had he really said something wrong?
When Jiang Zhe returned, Xiao Meng had just finished blow-drying her hair: “That was fast. It usually takes me a while to queue when I go.”
“Qin Jingchen brought it over.”
Xiao Meng revealed a knowing smile.
After breakfast, the two of them left the residential complex and walked towards the school.
The familiar Lincoln was nowhere to be seen; Jiang Zhe’s eyes lifted to spot another car.
“Jiang Zhe!” Two middle-aged men in their early fifties, dressed in suits, alighted from the car and approached Jiang Zhe, “We need a few minutes of your time.”
Xiao Meng looked at these strangers with a bit of concern.
Jiang Zhe said to her indifferently, “You go to school first; I’ll be there in a moment.”
Xiao Meng then ran towards the school’s entrance.
Jiang Zhe’s expression remained calm: “It’s only a few minutes.”
“We know you’re busy, so we’ll just say a few words. Zhe, are you truly not going to be a judge in that international piano competition? They specifically requested your presence,” one of the middle-aged men said, adjusting his glasses, his demeanor cultured.
“I’ve already said I don’t have time.”
“You, this kid. Let me lay out the conditions they’ve offered you; just listen,” the man insisted.
“Professor Fan, I’ve read the email you sent me. I’m really not going.”
Professor Fan adjusted his glasses: “Then the teaching pieces you promised to record for me…”
“I’ll get to those later.”
Professor Fan smiled: “You’re quite impossible, kid.”
Jiang Fanyue sharply spotted Jiang Zhe talking to two middle-aged men as they headed towards a luxury car from her own car.
Soon after, Jiang Zhe got into the car with those two men.
Her hand moved faster than her mind, pulling out her phone and capturing the scene.
She had previously heard vague rumors about Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng residing outside the school, which was odd given the intensive curriculum of the third year of high school—why live outside? Could it be that they were engaged in private dealings like these?
Jiang Fanyue’s fingers trembled with excitement; she hurried to class and, not wanting to leave any trace, didn’t dare to linger and quickly entered the school gates.
Jiang Zhe only stayed in the car for a few minutes before getting out and heading to the school gate, just in time to see Xiao Meng, along with Song Xingyu and Four-Eyes Xia Enci, running out.
“Xiaozhe!” Seeing her, Xiao Meng and Xia Enci ran over.
“What’s going on?” Song Xingyu asked, clueless as to why Xiao Meng had called him over in such a hurry first thing in the morning.
Xia Enci cast a glance back at Song Xingyu, “Do we need a reason to come and welcome our Xiaozhe?”
“That’s not an issue. But the urgency made me think something was wrong,” Song Xingyu replied.
Jiang Zhe, knowing Xiao Meng hadn’t spoken the whole truth for fear of making a bad impression, told her, “It’s a friend. There’s no problem.”
Ever since Jiang Fanyue had witnessed this event involving Jiang Zhe, she had been on the alert.
Sure enough, a few days later, she saw Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng having dinner with those two older men again.
Although the men seemed decent enough, the fact that they were mingling with Jiang Zhe made Jiang Fanyue feel uncomfortable deep inside.
Jiang Zhe hadn’t given up on Gu Jiaheng, had she? What on earth was she intending to do?
Jiang Fanyue wasn’t immediately sure how to handle the photographs. Sending them directly to Gu Jiaheng might just backfire.
She pondered in her mind.
Suddenly, someone bumped into her from behind.
Jiang Fanyue turned around and saw Bai Yilian wearing the school uniform of No.1 Middle School.
“Sorry, Jiang, I didn’t mean to bump into you,” Bai Yilian immediately apologized. At noon, when school let out, the boys would sprint towards the canteen as if they were a gust of wind sweeping up fallen leaves.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault,” Jiang Fanyue said gently, “Your class got out quite early today.”
“You know me, Jiang?” Bai Yilian was a bit surprised.
Jiang Fanyue was a notable figure at school, beautiful and academically excellent, while she was just from an unnamed class.
“Yeah, I saw you play the piano before, you were pretty good,” Jiang Fanyue didn’t hold back on her praise.
In fact, if it wasn’t because Bai Yilian and Xiao Meng shared a dorm with Jiang Zhe, Jiang Fanyue wouldn’t know who she was.
“Thank you,” Bai Yilian said, somewhat embarrassed by the compliment. “But I’m nowhere near as good as you.”
Jiang Fanyue changed the subject, “Aren’t you going to eat with your dorm mates?”
“They went together. Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng don’t live at school, so sometimes our schedules don’t align,” she explained.
Jiang Fanyue felt surprisingly calm once it was confirmed that they were not boarding students.
“Then let’s eat together,” Jiang Fanyue invited.
Bai Yilian was flattered by the invitation, the honor of being accompanied by someone like Jiang Fanyue couldn’t be compared to ordinary things.
For the next two days, Jiang Fanyue and Bai Yilian would almost always eat together.
After all, Xia Enci, Jiang Zhe, and Xiao Meng had their own clique, and Bai Yilian didn’t want to join them.
Seeing Jiang Fanyue suddenly become very close to Bai Yilian, Xia Enci muttered, “How did they become so close all of a sudden?”
Jiang Zhe glanced up nonchalantly and continued eating.
“That’s their business, let’s not worry about it,” said Xiao Meng.
Xia Enci pouted, “I’ve got some canned food to share with you later. My mom sent a new batch for Jiang Fanyue.”
Of course, those wouldn’t be passed on to Jiang Fanyue; they all ended up in her own stomach.
Xiao Meng smiled and said nothing, as her and Jiang Zhe’s place still had plenty.

After finishing his meal, Jiang Zhe left, and Xiao Meng and the others followed suit.
“A student asked me to bring back some yogurt bread. Luckily, I managed to get the last few,” Jiang Fanyue said, holding a few warm yogurt breads, just as her phone received a WeChat message.
Her hands were full, so she said to Bai Yilian, “Check the message for me, please.”
“It’s from your class monitor, asking about your piano practice schedule for the class duty roster.”
“The schedule is in my gallery, help me find it and send it to him.”
Bai Yilian acknowledged and started looking through the album for the schedule photo. As she swiped, she came across some photos that she shouldn’t have seen.
She held her breath, staring at those photos.
“Have you sent it?” Jiang Fanyue asked.
“Almost done! Is this the one?” Bai Yilian inquired.
“Yes.”
Jiang Fanyue turned away, “It smells so good, it makes me want to eat it. Instead of having dinner, I’ll just come and buy some yogurt bread later.”
Bai Yilian handed her phone back, “Sent, Fanyue. Here’s your phone, let me help you with the yogurt bread.”
Jiang Fanyue smiled, “Okay.”
…
The unnamed class.
Lou Qiaoyin stood at the lectern holding test papers, her expression one of satisfaction, “I did not expect everyone to have improved so much by now! I always said that as long as you work hard, the results will not disappoint you! Look, aren’t they?”
